Playing the trumpet or speaking, Terence Blanchard is class. Showing respect for those that came before and trying to help the next generation step up.

I love your playing. You are my current favorite jazz player of the trumpet. You write great stuff and play even better. I am 65 years old and your advice is so dead on and I knew and was lucky to get advice from some of the best. You validate so much of what I have always thought Your honesty and class are spectacular.

Great advice! I've played guitar for 20 years and never got good because I've always thought the right way to play was to play like this guy or that guy. I'm now trying to break out of that and am realizing I'm still only 2 years old.

Hearing his sound when I was watching Mo Better Blues made me pick up the trumpet after 12 years. He has a wonderful sound.

Think that some great musicians learned from listening to radio. You have so much more options now. All the information is available.

The difficulty in finding a jazz instructor is probably one of the reasons why the music is dying. I born and raised in New Orleans, and it is pretty hard finding a person to teach you the tradition. You expect a 13 year old to catch the bus to Preservation Hall (which is literally a night club) and just hand out with his horn? It reinforces the idea that jazz is some exclusive club that only a select few are allowed into. It was way easier finding instructors for different genre's of music.

Take a chance... why not? You are only on this planet for a short period of time, and I would rather go out swingin', than go out worrying what's somebody else is gonna say about what I do...
