You don't know how much I wish I could stop by! Perhaps god willing I'll be back in Whittier somwday.
I know you’ll make it out again!!!
My home turf.. lived just blocks away. Walked past it everyday on my way to Washington Elementary school. Glad to see it's still around and in great hands! Continued success!
Yes, it’s definitely in great hands!
Just discovered this local homage to Huell Howser.
Well done.
We live just a few blocks from Steak Corral and it's been a while so thank you for the reminder. Wife and I will be back soon for another tasty dinner.
Thank you for the kind words!! Huell is the inspiration, hope I’m doing his legacy justice. Glad the video inspired you return to Steak Corral!
Born and raised in Whittier (Mar Vista/Ocean View area). This place was a staple.
Lots of people grew up on Steak Corral, I'm so glad that the video has resonated with them! Thanks for watching and commenting!
I remember Arcadia steak corral
That’s awesome! Not too many people have commented that they remember the Arcadia location
I remember going to the West Covina location with the neighbor across the street who used to babysit me. Loved going 'to town' to Covina and West Covina growing up. Thanks again for another great episode!
The West Covina one seems to be the most well known! They turned it into a Norms, but the building is still the same shape. Thank you as always for watching, appreciate you!
Back in the 80's we stole west covina cowboy statue and put it on top of the gym at covina high school
Nice! Gotta come with the family and check it out ❤
It’s a great family dinner spot!
I'm enjoying your content bro, I have to hit this place up for sure.
Thank you!! That's a huge compliment. If you've never been to Steak Corral, you definitely need to go at least once. They don't make restaurants like this anymore. If you're lucky, you might see Steve Ramirez working on something. He's such a cool dude, I could talk with him for hours.
I used to go to the one in Pasadena when I was a kid. I don’t remember the food but I remember getting the Indian head bands! I will head to Whittier and go there for lunch, looks delicious!
The Pasadena one was the biggest one they had, I've only seen sketches of it, but I'm sure it was amazing. I need to ask if they still give headbands the next time I go.
Thank you , i löve Califa from Berlin Agape
Wow, amazing to know I have a viewer from Berlin! Thank you so much for watching and subscribing!
Great video, Foo! I remember going to the Pasadena restaurant as a kid for special occasions. Loved the croutons ❤😊
Thank you!! You’re actually the 1st person to comment that’s been to the Pasadena location! Just need someone that went to the Santa Anna and Temple City locations (I forgot to mention the Temple City one in the video since it opened during the time others were closing)
Thank you!
You’re welcome! Steak Corral deserves to have its history told just like the bigger chains like McDonald’s!!!
Very interesting. Can you do a video on Musso and Frank Grill?
It’s on my list!
@@californiography fantastic thanks
I love your videos very interesting and informative, always makes for pleasant viewing.
Thank you for the awesome feedback! I strive to get better with every video!
How does this have 1.6 million likes but only under 900 views?
That’s showing on your end?! I only see 49 likes and 1K views, wonder if it was a glitch?
Hey bro great video. I heard you on the "My Whittier" 11/29 epi and you mentioned something. I moved to San Pedro from Whittier and I stayed there for 2 years in 1993-1995-ish. There was a Corral Kid out there too at that time. I remember seeing it and thinking hey home slice lol. I believe it was near that Pepper Mill restaurant on Pacific if I am not mistaken, or maybe a little bit further down Pacific. It may be gone now because they were doing a lot of renovations down there. LMK if it is still there please. I also grew up in Whittier and my grandparents are in Pico Rivera. So, meeting at the one on Washington was a family tradition (also my dad never cooked LOL).
I was told that the San Pedro Corral Kid is now at the Whittier location in storage. They’re going to refurbish him and put him out with his Whittier brother. Thanks for watching and commenting! Appreciate you! 🙏🏽
Probably shouldn't have watched this during my lunch break...lol Great recap on the history. There are so many special places in Whittier!
😂 I’m craving some Steak Corral too. Thank you man, it’s such a great place and I felt like it deserved to have its history told.
Javier, I loved your video on the Steak Corral restaurant. Sad to think that there is now only one location left. I might just make my way down to Whittier to try it out. If you'd like, you can join me. After all, who wouldn't like a taste out of a Beefy Bill? I know I would...LOL
Hahahaha, your Beefy Bill comment had me dying 😂! If you make it down let me know, I will never say no to Steak Corral!
Question, where can i find the best bolillos in Whittier? Thanks!
My spot is La Moderna at 8035 1/2 Norwalk Blvd, gotta get there early because it does get busy!
@@californiography hell yeah! Gonna check it out!
