I love this guitar solo. There are missed notes, and missed timing - on purpose. I have always thought that it represents the escalading conflight of a fight with the seemingly happy couple referenced in the song. The song is called '5 days in May'. The album is '5 days in July' (three months later) and on the cover of the album is a burning house- representing the incineration and destruction of the relationship. The solo builds and is messy- like a break up. I can hear both sides arguing in the solo...
Great job-i think this solo is a salute to Neil Young-it has his frenetic style written all over it. "They met in a hurricane " being a reference to like a hurricane. Killer Canadian band.
Great job. Saw them live last night bit they treated this solo differently which was the only disappointment of the evening. Do you know who originally performed this solo on the album?
That's the answer. Plus he goes completely off near the end of the Solo with these very wild and poorly played pinch harmonics. The solo kind of devolves into chaos.
@@KellyDeanAllenGuitar That's how I interpreted it. The couple in the song were in such a fever, the solo was just matching the intensity, probably of their sex life.
Neil is actually one of my favorite guitar players. I adore Neil's soloing style. However, Neil's solos almost always fit the mood of the song. This one doesn't.

Wow. That’s almost impossible to play. Great job.
My favourite band... love this, great cover

When are you making another guitar and tweaking it out ?
0:55 what are you playing there? Is it some sort of power chord?
Double stop.
Great rendition. Why do you consider this amazing solo to be strange?
I'm guessing just because it doesn't really match the laid back vibe of the rest of the song? I always thought it didn't match, but it works.

Sheesh. I guess anyone being critical of this is also critical of Neil Young's 'poorly played' solos also.
