- Jyotiraditya Scindia is a third generation politician currently serving as Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel in PM Modi’s cabinet since 2021. He is a member of the upper house of parliament from his home state of Madhya Pradesh and has also represented Guna parliamentary constituency in Lok Sabha for more than 17 years. Scindia is an economics graduate from Harvard University and has an MBA from Stanford University. Prior to entering politics, Jyotiraditya also worked with Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch as an investment banker. He is also a cricket enthusiast and has served as president of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association. In this edition of ANI Podcast with Smita Prakash, Scindia talks about how he joined mainstream politics after the sudden demise of his father Madhav Rao Scindia in 2002. He also recollects his memories of his grandmother Vijaya Raje Scindia, who was one of the founding members of Jan Sangh. He also talks about his relationship with the Gandhi family and reveals reasons why he left Congress to join the BJP. Scindia also talks about the INDIA alliance and terms it as a group of political entities who want to serve their own interests instead of serving the people. He also talked about initiatives taken by the civil aviation ministry and exuded confidence that the BJP will win the upcoming state elections in Madhya Pradesh.

We had the oppurtinity of meeting Rajamatha Vijayaraje schindya in 1976 during emergency in karnataka. She was so simple, humble and down to earth. We students sat around her and chatted with her like old friends.The few hours we spent with her can never be erased from our hearts.I sang a Tyagaraja keertan and she said I should never give up singing.❤Jyotiraditya is her grand son .🙏
The way described his own history starting from his ancestral village in Satara district of Maharashtra to the time of his great great great great grandfather Mahadashi Shinde, is incredible. He knows his roost and from where exactly he is coming from and his choice of doing Janseva for the people is in his blood. That’s how the maharajas are supposed to be, well Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj raised his people very well….

This man is a thoroughbred, a pedigree and probably the best man to be CM of MP. He has an emotional connect with the state and seems so sincere in what he speaks. I wish the not so talented in the state BJP make way for him and whole heartedly support him. He deserves Madhya Pradesh and vice versa.

I am a Panjabi living in the UK, but my mind is always in Bharat. It was nice to listen to this interview and learn much. I know India was left very impowerish by the British. I studied from The Scindia School, one of the premium boarding schools of India. I'm proud to have him as His Highness(which we will always call him). Met him many times and he's an absloutely fun person to be around. He has an abundant knowledge and love for the sports is insourmantable.
I'm being a National Swimmer of India when I met him, he was elated to represent India and Scindia at national level and gave me a fantastic tip to my sports - "stay focus like the way you're now. You will bring laurels".
He will always be my My Highness.

Very good podcast. Jyotiraditya Scindia is a good leader and true Nationalist. He supported abrogation of article 370 when he was in Congress. This shows that he considers National Interest above other. Great to have learned and well read ministers in the cabinet

People saying Scindia being a dynast, I disagree. He is highly educated, cleared harvard education, worked as an Investment banker, built his own startup and won the elections on his own. Now, he is running a central ministry and fighting for CM portfolio! The best contribution of Modiji is that to all younger politicians of all parties he has demonstrated what is expected of a leader and set the bar for public service. I hope this influences all genuine leaders from all parties to adopt the same policy. Jyotiraditya is clearly one of them and I look forward to seeing him as the next CM of MP and see him transform MP from bimaru to a Gujarat.

There lies the difference. Academic degrees have only that much in grooming a person’s demeanour and character. It depends a lot on one’s parents and family and the environment they provided during one’s growing up years. And there lies the difference. Many people with degrees just bark, lie and indulge in immoral activities without batting an eyelid. Few others are the likes of examples you see here.

An extremely intriuiging episode.......well conducted..by our hostess Smitha........Our aviation minister Mr.Scindiia's clarity of thought, & the transparency with which he explained the nuances of politics.....the hicuups they have to constantly confront ....the sheer enormity of responsibilities they have to shoulder .....added to the pressures of confronting an ever criticsl section of the audience ....combined with that sense of elation when success comes knocking at their doors sending shivers of gratification down their spines.....this episode opens ones mind to the amount of midnight candles burnt by our leaders to be in that seat .......makes us lay people to the world of politics squirm & feel guilty at the callous remarks citizens make at tirelessly hardworking people leading our country......!!! This episode felt like a narration out of a spell binding thriller...it truely was intruiging.....
