Thank you. I am a Limonense by birth but have lived in the US for over 50 years. When I go to Costa Rica I feel like a tourist, but not in Limón. I still have family there and Limón is home.

Hi thanks for the tour of my home Town (Old Harbor)(Harbour) Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Limón Costa Rica.
Small correction, we were not slaves in Costa Rica. My grand and great Gran parents reach there for a better life from Jamaica W I.
Keep up with the good work.

Limon is cool and like anyplace in the World you have to pick your spots. Certain neighborhoods are more sketchy than others. Walking around at night may be a gamble. I was cruising around with a couple local characters that I was introduced to by a friend. I realized something was up when people saw us on the sidewalk and crossed into the street to avoid our pathway. Found out later one of these “bodyguards “ was a stone cold killer and the other one was the baddest “knife” man in town. But hey, at least they were on my side.

When I lived in San Jose it was people walking down the street hollering Limon to me everytime they passed. I knew right then Limon was where my people were at. I had a short stay, when I go back I'm coming to Limon!

Super grateful and appreciate the good review of my place of birth playa Bonita is a few minutes from my parents and Puerto viejo is our hangout, don’t blame Monique about being scared of that little plane…thanks so much because the distance can be such a turn off to visitors 🙏🏽 glad you enjoyed my birthplace.

Ah your information was very informative, but why didn't take pics with your phone about it as well. My grandparents went there over 100 years ago and their home is still there. My aunt who is deceased now told me she went Marcus Garvey school. She would have been in her 90's if she was alive. I never been to Limon but plan on going by the end of this year. Yes It used be called Jamaica town Costs Rica. All the Jamaicans went there to help build the railroad. They were hired by President Roosevelt to do so after the Asians could not bear the heat and was dieing with all types of diseases. Well you know the black man's melanin once again was needed to do hard labor in the sun!!😉 😉 Sorry for such a long text 😁
