      Thanks man, I appreciate it. Hasn't been out of the box since I got it. In the meantime, I bought a couple other retro M16A1 type rifles. I have yet to take them out and shoot them. Just not enough time in the day/week/year it seems.

    The first VN issue I received was a M16 without a forward assist and a 3 pron😮g flash suppressor. The 2nd had forward assist with the same 3 prong suppressor. Both were made by TurboHydramatic Division of GM and were dark gray in color. Never had a Colt. I would pay that amount for one of these.

      Personally I'd suggest a Brownells BRN16A1. The closest and most accurate replica you can get without spending the ungodly amount of money for a colt

    And why would you not fire it? These things should be loved and enjoyed. Plus the M16A1 configuration is just very comfortable to shoot. I'll definitely be putting several rounds through mine. Life's too short to collect museum pieces, and I already have enough guns that i can't fire for physical reasons. Just my $0.02, cheers.

    • @wsucougarx
      @wsucougarx  Před 6 lety +6

      It was bought for an investment. I've got 6 other AR's I can shoot:-)

    • @ozarkbeararms8840
      @ozarkbeararms8840 Před 6 lety +14

      Honestly, if we're talking just pure investment? For what one of these costs, you could buy 3 LE6920s and they would appreciate in value/worth quicker than this M16 replica. Guns made and bought specifically to be collectible rarely actually become collectible. Its kind of ironic, but I've been doing this a good long while now, and it is just the way it is. And firing a firearm has surprisingly little effect on its resale value. So might as well enjoy it. The M16A1 design is a lot of fun.

      L F Again, just another jealous I can’t afford it but really want one so I am here hating reply. You can’t even afford what he considers an investment. Here’s a suggestion. Spend less time in replies and go get a better job.

    • @gunsmokeGA
      @gunsmokeGA Před 6 lety +2

      vettelover2009 I hear you but I didn’t buy mine as an investment and don’t plan to ever sell. I wanted it and could afford it and nothing more. I wanted the closest A1 example to what was issued when my father served in 67. That wasn’t a Brownells, Troy, personal build with surplus parts or the SP1. I liked the rifle, it’s built well, and frankly I could care less whether one likes it or not. I love this example for what it is and plan to shoot the crap out of it and enjoy it. I would buy it again because it’s a jam up rifle. Overpriced, yes. But they are having no issues selling them at all and will continue to do so if they haven’t already dried up. Might be foolish to you but not to some of us.

    it cracks me up how they can come out with something like this for more money than a standard AR , with all the bells and whistles. So you get that Vietnam era vibe, so what? The modifications on the M 16 since 1965 are improvements ,this is all about vibe.

    • @wsucougarx
      @wsucougarx  Před 11 měsíci

      What an ass. The vibe is not for me, but for my 11 Bravo father and father in law. My father served with 3rd Platoon, D.Co, 1/20th, 11th LIB, 23rd ID 1969-1970. My father in law was with C.Co, 2/60th, 9th ID 1968. It cracks me up how many dumbass comments I'm seeing. As if your opinion seems to matter?

    • @cottonballs185
      @cottonballs185 Před 3 lety

      Might were it actually sourced from Colt's Manufacturing, what you have instead are third-party components assembled under license. The premium is for the roll marks, but 2:59 they are of inconsistent depth as you would expect on a shoddy phony- ironic

    • @snowlothar45
      @snowlothar45 Před 3 lety +1

      It will follow the other Colt mistake that was not a real Colt - the Expanse. Colt collectors shun it. Buy a true SP1 for the same or less, and watch it continue to climb in price as a "real" Colt.

    • @Kill3rGr1zzly
      @Kill3rGr1zzly Před 3 lety +1

      These will never go up in value. They’re not made by Colt, they’re a reproduction made by U.S. Ordnance. It’s no more collectible than the Brownells Retro line or the Fulton A1 Government. Nobody’s being a naysayer when they point this out, they’re pointing it out after thoroughly examining the rifle and discovering they’ve been ripped off, as you were here. Shoot it and enjoy it, that’s all it’s good for. It’ll be the best all around ranch rifle you’ll ever own. If you want something as an investment, get an SP1.

      @DonnyDoo42 Před 5 lety

      Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the stock on the A1 and the A4 are a different material. My Brownells A1 has the original black stock that feels much lighter than the solid stock on the A4 I was issued in the Marines. Also, A1 stocks don’t have the trap door for a cleaning kit like the later advancements do.
