I’ve watched a few of these reaction videos and everyone says, “how are these guys just falling?”
If you watched MJ play you would know how quick and fluid his moves were. He would often come at defenders later in the game, slightly modifying a move he used earlier. If you didn’t get it just right in a fraction of a second, he was already gone and mid dunk. Just about everyone in the league was scared of MJ.

    • @xsjado_anon
      @xsjado_anon Před 10 měsíci +3

The 80s game was far less perfected planned plays and far more psychological battles based on skill and headgames, so every time he'd hit you with a variation of the move as the battle developed over the course of a game.
Larry was making dudes fall left and right despite his lack of athleticism because he was a master of using people's weight and inertia/momentum against them - wait until you made a tiny weight shift and then go the opposite way, and they made such an art of it that you weren't even aware of your own shift in direction, and so when you attempt to defend you are confused to find your body not complying for some reason.
Look at the faces of those guys on the ground - they look like they have idea why their bodies just betrayed them - these days the subtlety is gone thanks to AI making carries and travels part of the game that is no longer policed - why bother with learning such subtlety when you can just hold the ball until the defender is all and truly committed to a direction before "continuing" you dribble (I.e. double dribbling) and going the other way. I remember Kobe wrong-footed a dude right off the damn court using that, still cool, but give me back 80s rules anyway.

As Jordan said, He wore 45 because his father wasn’t there to watch him play anymore as he was murdered in 1993. So when he returned to basketball, it was a new beginning, 45 was also his first high school number. Jordan was not trash during the 25 or so games he wore 45. He just needed a few games to get back into basketball shape. He scored 55 in his return to MSG. In the 1995 semifinals against Orlando, Jordan turned the ball over late and in the post game, Nick Anderson of the Magic commented “45 isn’t 23” so Jordan wore 23 in the following game and shot for almost 40. However he was fined about $20k per game or total, I’m not sure for wearing 23. When he came back and told the league he wanted to wear 45, the league gave him the number and made thousands of 45 jerseys for fans. When he brought 23 back w/o permission and during the current season, it basically made the 45 jerseys in stores unsellable. I have the 45 jersey still with the tags. Jordan was the VP of the Wizards then played for them 2001-2003. He owns or partially owns the Hornets.

Actually with the fine, Jordan was wearing his iconic 11’s for the first time and the league didn’t approve of them (the same happen with his 1’s) to wear for the game. So each time he wore them, they fined him $10k. The next year he was able to wear them without getting fined because the league cleared it.

  • @commissaryarrick9614
    @commissaryarrick9614 Před rokem +6

Jordan still has the highest vertical on record amongst NBA players. His first step was very quick. He also has abnormally large hands, which let him do one handed ball fakes. His fundamentals and footwork were incredible. As he got older and slowed down, his fade away and mid range game were incredible. For reference, during his championship years, he shoot 50% from mid range. For comparison, LeBron for his career in the midrange is 35%.
Imagine if Jordan could play with the no contact rules of today, use a gather step, carry the ball like players can today and defenders had to worry about 3 seconds. He wouldn’t need a 3pt shoot because his fg% would be over 60%.

117 NBA players from Lebron’s era voted who they believe is the greatest NBA player of all-time. This is the results…
      1. Michael Jordan (73%)
      2. Lebron James (11.9%)
      Other (15.1%)
MJ’s era, along with modern NBA coaches voted MJ as the greatest of all-time at a higher percentage. And fan voting has placed MJ as the greatest of all-time at just above 75% of the votes…
Not only does MJ have beat Lebron in more prime for prime comparisons, but so does 6 other all-time greats, including Larry Bird. Below is Birds prime stats on the left and Lebron’s on the right…
      Bird/Lebron

      3P% - 40.0/36.5 - Bird
      FT% - 89.9/74.9 - Bird
Larry Bird beats Lebron 7-2 when comparing their stats from 5 years of their primes. Lebron’s longevity achievements, not prime abilities, has gotten him placed so high on the all-time greats, whereas many other greats are lower on the all-time greats for the same reasons. So only by recency bias and media narratives, Lebron has gotten more credit by far than any other greats but not well deserved…
Most PPG by a defensive player of the year…
      MJ - 35.0 (87-88)
      Giannis - 29.5

      Robinson - 23.2
      Dwight - 22.9
      Kawhi - 21.2
During Lebron’s best 3 scoring seasons he had his worst defensive seasons. He also came in dead last in the entire league in time spent getting past the half court line back on the defensive end of the floor in all 3 seasons…

MJ won 3 championships, 3 scoring titles, 2 season MVPs, 3 finals MVPs, 3 all-defensive 1st teams, and missed 0 games in just a span of 32 months. And this is only a small fraction of why he had the best prime of all-time…
There have only been 4 finals matchups in NBA history where both teams had 60+ wins. MJ won 3 of them in a row…
Lebron’s early dominance in the weakest conference in NBA history when adding up win totals for the top 8 seeds has been a major factor of his fanbase logic of why he should be so high on the all-time greats. But here’s Luka’s dominance compared to Lebron in a mostly tougher conference…
      Luka/Lebron
      Wins - 134/126
      Points - 26.1/26.5
      Rebounds - 8.5/6.6
      Assists - 7.9/6.6
      DBL-DBLS - 121/61
If Pippen was the reason why MJ won, why couldn’t he win with Hakeem and Barkley as his teammates?
Here’s a flip coin to Lebron’s fanbase logic behind their longevity argument.
      Lebron James all-time playoff/finals ranks
      Finals losses - 1st
      Missed shots - 1st
      Missed three’s - 1st
      Turnovers - 1st
      Swept in finals - 1st
      Missed free throws - 1st
Most finals series lost - 3rd
      Worst +\- finals - 6th
No this isn’t another top 75 list. It’s Lebron’s teammates through the years…
      Dwyane Wade (13x all-star)
      Kyrie Irving (7x all-star)

The 2017 Warriors and Cavs were more evenly matched in the finals than Lebron’s protective media likes to tell his easily deceived fanbase. But you can’t blame them. They had to manufacture a fake goat to raise the NBA ratings, in return raising their own ratings after the departure of MJ. It really came down to Lebron and KD as to which team ultimately won, but of course they couldn’t tell the fan’s that KD just beat Lebron. Here’s how evenly matched their help was…

Nobody, not even Lebron’s naive fanbase will argue that the Rockets with a duo of Harden, CP3 and company were better than the trio of Lebron, Irving, Love and the rest of Lebron’s handpicked company. But the Rockets took those Warriors with KD to 7 games and would have won if CP3 hadn’t suffered an injury, causing him to miss game 7. The Cavs lost in 5 games to that same Warriors team in the finals. Lebron doesn’t have the winning mentality that some may think…

Most superstars are lucky to have 1 all-star teammate, 3-4 good role players and some bums to fill out the rest of the roster for up to 7 years of their career, kind of like MJ. Lebron's had 2 all-star teammates, shooter's and vetran minimum notables taking less money to completely fill out rosters from top to bottom for 12 years of his career. After he decided to 1up the rest of the league to be a heavy favorite for years to come with two different teams, Heat and Cavs, KD decided to return the favor to him and 1up Lebron by joining GSW. People just want to see a competitive league instead of naively getting excited over Lebron making so many finals when he's always been heavily favored to except once. I definitely don't hate Lebron but much of his fanbase is embarrassing to be associated with. And I'm more disappointed that we'll never really know just how great Lebron really is. I mean just imagine if he joined 1 all-star and recruited 3-4 good role players along with some bums for just 7 years of his career in the tougher conference, kind of like MJ. How many finals appearances and rings would he have then? Maybe 2-3 finals appearances max? Maybe 1-2 titles max? He might be considered a top 20 great all-time at best. But he's played in the weaker conference with 2 all-stars, shooter's and vetran minimum notables taking less money to stack teams from top to bottom for 12 years of his career. Almost all of Lebron’s accomplishments are due to all the help he’s had and longevity. Even Karl Malone had longevity stats over MJ but he still couldn’t get past him. That’s like giving Shaq 100 free throw opportunities to MJ’s 10 and suddenly saying Shaq is the better free throw shooter. That’s Lebron’s fanbase logic. But guess what? Even with Lebron playing many more seasons than MJ, he’s still not as accomplished in the NBA. So with the many more opportunities Lebron has had to surpass MJ in overall accomplishments, he’s still not done it. And Lebron can’t turn back the clock to be better prime for prime than MJ or several other all-time greats for that matter…
Lebron fan’s give him full credit for his 4 titles and no blame for the 6 losses. If Ray Allen didn’t hit that shot, Bron is 3-7 right now. If Kyrie didn’t hit a vital clutch 3 in game 7 against GSW, Bron would probably be 2-8 right now. If the low seeded Miami with Butler as the best player, and an injured Dragic as the 2nd best player (Taking Lakers to 6 games lol), didn’t steal the blue print to beat the Bucks, Bron is probably 1-9. If Lebron didn’t play next to the 3rd best shooting guard of all-time, a top 5 power forward at the time, shooter’s and vetran minimum notables taking less money to stack the roster from top to bottom, Lebron would probably be 0-10 in the finals. Nah, actually he would’ve only made 3 finals appearances max if he wasn’t favored to every year but once. And he wouldn’t have made that one he wasn’t favored to if he wasn’t playing in the weakest eastern conference of all-time when adding up the win totals for the top 8 seeds. Lebron bandwagon fan’s are the the most easily deceived. MJ is the goat by a long shot…
MJ had to overcome diversity to win his first championship. The Pistons and Lakers were both favored to meet in the finals when MJ beat both out for his first ring. MJ never lost as a favorite in a single series, including the finals. Lebron has lost a few series’s as the favorite, including his ridiculous meltdown against the Mavericks. MJ lost to a dynasty in the Celtics when he had no help, but he still put up 63 points trying to will his team through them. Lebron lost in the first round with AD playing in 4 of those games along with an entire handpicked roster against the Suns with an old CP3 and Booker…
MJ had the lowest surrounding scoring cast of teammates among all superstars throughout NBA history to go on and win a title. He holds this feat 5 out of the top 10 spots, including the top 3. He went 6-0 in the finals carrying the heaviest offensive load of all-time and 11-0 in all championship opportunities. Despite Lebron having the most help all-time, he’s 4-6 in the finals and 6-6 in all championship opportunities. If this was boxing, Lebron would be considered a journeyman. Nobody would argue that MJ had a teammate better than Pippen or Rodman. But did you know both of them completely fell off their games once the playoffs began, forcing MJ to carry a much heavier load to win. Rodman wasn’t only the worst offensive player in the NBA, but he wasn’t the elite rebounder in the playoffs that he was in the regular season, making him more of a liability on the floor…

Not only was Wiggins slightly better than Pippen in stats but he also held his defensive assignment (Tatum) to a lower PER than Pippen held his, just so you can get a little more context of how heavy the load was that MJ carried. No other superstar carried his best 2 teammates to a championship while they played this horribly. MJ carried them to multiple championships…
There isn’t a criteria given by a reliable source yet that has Lebron higher than 4th greatest of all-time no matter how they’ve attempted to score it. One source admittedly scored finals losses much higher than wins in an attempt to see how high they could get Lebron, and that’s the only reason he got 4th. He’s closer to 7th on the all-time greats, trying to solidify a 4th spot at best. Longevity stats are scored the lowest for good reason. I mean Karl Malone has longevity over MJ but couldn’t beat him. Stockton wins in about every category but nobody would argue that he’s better than Magic. Lebron will be somewhere between 4th and 7th all-time once solid criteria of scoring is released as a method for placement, so marinate on that for a while. Not only that, but just as Bill Russell’s career is downplayed to this day because of all the help he had to succeed, Lebron will go down with the most tainted legacy of all-time, regardless of where he’s put on the all-time greats list…

I acknowledge that Lebron is a freak athlete with durability and longevity on his side. With his size and athletic abilities, he’s able to chase any stat he wants regardless if it’s the best decision at the time or not. I’ve watched him play and upon learning that he chases stats, I can’t unsee it anymore. Lebron has let guys blow past him, giving them a higher percentage of layups, all in the name of attempting to get a block added to his stat sheet. I’ve seen him push his best rebounding teammates to run the floor, so he can sit back to chase a rebound himself for his stat sheet. I’ve heard it from the horses mouth (Lebron’s), telling his teammates to shoot the ball, contested or not, when he passes to them, or pass it back, just so he can rack up his stats. I’ve seen Lebron come in dead last in the entire league for getting back on defense in 2 different seasons, years ago when he was a much more capable defender, which is a real stat tracked by the NBA btw. I’ve seen Lebron lacking 1 assist to get a triple double, passing up easy shots to chase that triple double, doing this in regular season games along with playoff games. Lebron’s stat chasing mentality over winning is very evident and videos don’t lie. Pat Riley asked Lebron to play a style like Magic, Wade like Kobe, and Bosh like Garnett when Riley pitched his recruitment to Lebron. Bosh was projected to have his highest rebounding season with the Heat, but Lebron pushed him to run the floor, so Lebron himself could sit back chasing rebounds, causing Bosh to have a season low in rebounds, although previous years prove he was the best rebounder on the floor. Lebron competed with Wade for stats more than opposing teams. After a year of Lebron refusing to play his role, in the name of stats, Riley asked Wade to step back for the betterment of the team, in which Wade obliged, so Lebron could grow instead of having another finals meltdown. Don’t act like you haven’t noticed the rift between Lakers management and Lebron. They wouldn’t even trade at the deadline, but rather put it on Lebron to make it work or continue chasing Kareem stat records. Lebron forced Russ to play off the ball, knowing Russ couldn’t excel that way. Russ went from several triple double seasons to not being able to catch rhythm as Lebron’s teammate. Lebron absolutely refused to play a lick of defense this year, not setting the tone for the team, all to get his stats, causing the finals favorite team in the west to not even make the playoffs. Almost all of Lebron’s teammates have their worst career stats next to him. All of Lebron’s teams have losing records when he’s on the bench because they’re so dependent on his stat racking style, despite him have the most help all-time to succeed. The media has hyped him since before he made it into the NBA, so not many can acknowledge these failures for the sake of their own ratings. Teams management knows they can’t acknowledge either because of the effect it could have on their teams future, because of the media. But they still often make it plain and anyone paying attention notices these rifts between Lebron and his teams management. Lebron’s never been coachable, although he’s had a carbon copy of Riley in Spo. Of course with all the public perception due to media deception, other players aren’t going to go against the crowd but will rather acknowledge Lebron in a more positive way. Lebron’s not a horrible player but he definitely has his major flaws. He would’ve been a top 20 no matter what but he’s chosen to taint his legacy forever, in the name of reaching a higher spot in the all-time greats. But no matter where he’s listed, he’ll still go down with the most tainted legacy of all-time because of his horrible choices…
Kawhi has the closest shooting chart and defensive mindset of anyone playing today, to MJ. Lebron has a losing record in the regular season and postseason against Kawhi teams. Lebron also has his worst stats and efficiency when only counting minutes guarded by Kawhi compared to being guarded by anyone else in the league. Just imagine if Kawhi was far more athletic, with much better unguardable signature moves, hustled like Westbrook, had a mentality like Kobe, durability of Lebron, trash talking head games of Bird, much more efficient, a better leader, a better finisher, better at getting steals, better at blocks, a much better passer, quicker, stronger, higher basketball IQ etc etc etc… Then Kawhi would be a little more like MJ. So if Kawhi poses such problems for Lebron, imagine what MJ would do to him…
There was less emphasis put on 3’s in MJ’s era so he practiced and shot less but worked at everything important in that era. MJ also shot above the average 3 point percentage in his era. Lebron shoot’s below the average 3 point percentage in this era, so MJ would have no issue with that in today’s game. The only 3 seasons that MJ attempted over three 3 point attempts, this was his average…
      89-90 - 37.6%
      96-97 - 37.4%
95-96 - 42.7% (Higher than Lebron has ever shot for a season, although he practices it more)
So MJ proved he could do anything he worked at very well. If he’d practiced shooting 3’s as much as players do in this era, he would have no issues shooting over that 42.7% from beyond the arc that he averaged in the 95-96 season…
Over his entire basketball career, Michael Jordan played for 11 championships. He never lost:
      NCAA Championship: 1-0
      Olympic Gold Medals: 2-0
      FIBA Gold Medals: 2-0
      NBA Championships: 6-0
Moreover, Jordan remains the only player in NBA history to win: MVP, FMVP, DPOY, and ROTY. MJ’s also 24-0 in playoff series where he has home court advantage…
Congrats to LeBron for surpassing MJ on the All-time Scoring List. It only took him…

      -868 more free throws

To answer some of your questions, he won a three-peat (91,92,93) retired to try baseball cause his dad always wanted him to play baseball. When his dad was murdered, he left the NBA to try baseball for his dad. The Bulls retired his #23. When MLB went on strike 2 years later, he came back to the NBA. He wore #45, cause #23 was retired, and #45 was the number he wore playing baseball, both as an adult and as a youngster. After a few games, he decided to go back to #23, but had to pay a fine every game for wearing a retired jersey number until the next season when they officially unretired #23. And upon his return, won another three-peat (96,97,98).

He did play for the Wizards at age 40. Only because he bought the team, and attendance was horrible, so he suited up to sell tickets and help develop his young players. People were falling back then? That was the Black Jesus affect. MJ mastered the game of spacing and getting defenders off balance. He had such fast twitching muscles which granted him freakish athleticism, insane quickness and explosiveness. Defenders were shook guessing his next move or counter move and that's why you see so many of them get dropped quick as prime Tyson opponents. You even saw the greatest perimeter defender (Rodman) get dropped. MJ had such tremendous balance. He loved to attack rim with a hard right drive but could stop on a dime, and that's why you see so many players biting on hard drive and then you see them disappear from picture.

Jordan was a rhythm 3-point shooter. For much of his career he only averaged < 1 3PA per game, most of which were late clock bailouts. But in the full seasons and postseasons where he took a good volume of 3-pointers, he shot it well. Basically, the times where he actually incorporated it into his game he shot it well. Check the numbers:
    1990 - 37.6% on 3.0 attempts/gm
    1993 - 35.2% on 2.9 attempts/gm
1996 - 43% on 3.2 attempts/gm (* shorter line; however I read an analysis of his games that year which suggested that his percentage from beyond the normal line would have been around 36-38%).
    1997 - 37.4% on 3.6 attempts/gm (* shorter line)
    Postseasons:
    1991 - 38.5% 3FG
    1992 - 38.6% 3FG
    1993 - 39.6% 3FG (on 4 attempts per game, mind you).

There was MJ and there was everybody else. MJ had his own level. He's the GOAT for good reasons. I laugh when people (mostly your age) say Lebron is better than MJ. He reportedly had a 48" vertical, tied as the highest in NBA history with, who else, Wilt Chamberlain. When MJ played, the guy most people refer to as an elite jumper was Dominique Wilkins. After he won three championships, he retired, sat out for 18 months and returned. After winning another three championship, he retired again and bought part if the Washington Wizards franchise. After three years and 9/11, he decided to return to the Wizards for two years and sold his shares of the Wizards. He took $1 million per year salary and donated it all to the families of the victims of 9/11. After two years, he finally retired for good and eventually bought into the Charlotte franchise. He now owns most of the Hornets (89.5%).

Its hard to describe just how much presence he had on a game and you could feel it through the tv. And people were falling down because he was that good.. he was controlling them with how he played. Also gotta love young kids who only think 3 pointers mean anything. He was 6 for 6 in finals.. he shot the 3 fine it just was not the focus of any team back then. The thing that alot of the younger generation doesn't seem to realize, is that this was MJ every 👏 single 👏 night 👏. No plays off. No load management. No resting on defense. No backing down. He WAS thee Apex predator of the league! Players feared him. He had unrivaled determination & killer instinct. Motivated to play every game. Ten scoring titles (NBA record) in an era where physicality was at its highest, 6 Championships, 5 MVPs, 6 Finals MVPs, a Defensive Player of the Year award which was usually given to the big men of that time and countless other benchmark stats that have yet to be broken. A NCAA National Championship and two Olympic Gold Medals. Still the only player in NBA history to win the scoring title, MVP, a Championship, Finals MVP and be named to the All-Defensive 1st team in the same season. He did that 4 times! Nearly every obscure stat has Jordan's name in it. And all of this was done in the Golden Era in effectively 14 seasons. Twelve seasons if we only look at his Bulls years. Eleven if we take out the majority of his second season that he lost due to a foot injury, which was the season he came back at the end and dropped 63pts in the Boston Garden in the Playoffs. That is an insane accumulation of accomplishments and stats in such a relatively average length career. Just imagine the accomplishments and stats he could have accumulated had he played 17, 18, 19 or 20 seasons. Just imagine where he would be sitting on the "all-time" lists. How many more titles and points he would have amassed. Imagine if he doesn't retire for two years in his prime or Jerry Krause/Reinsdorf don't kick Phil to the curb, making MJ's decision to retire again that much easier. That Bulls team had the ability to win 8 chips straight, maybe more. Just imagine how much higher the benchmarks would have been pushed. It's insane to think about. He could have have played 18-20 seasons if the path stayed linear on his career. Also, take this into consideration. LeBron has passed Kareem in scoring in season 20. Great accomplishment by any standard of greatness. But that is a longevity stat. You know this, we know this. Kobe, Karl, LeBron and Kareem all sit above Jordan on that scoring list and they all played ruffly 20 seasons or more. All great accomplishments. Now think of this, at 14 seasons respectively, Jordan was way ahead of all 4 of them in points. Jordan was nearly 5000 points ahead of LeBron at that point in their careers - not to mention he was ahead of LeBron in every statistical category other than assists at that point as well. So if you do the math while keeping things in perspective with common sense sprinkled in, Jordan potentially surpasses Kareem in his 17th season given the averages. Years ahead of LeBron. I mean, simply give Jordan back his second season due to injury and the two seasons he retired in his prime, right there is nearly Kareem passing territory. He also most likely catches and surpasses Stockton for steals leader as well. So when you look at it that way, it becomes quite clear that Jordan's career and potential was on a whole other level. Not knocking LeBron or anyone else. Greats are great, no matter the way we look at it. But one guy simply towered over the rest. Perspective tells us that. Luckily I got to see his career unfold. It was a remarkable time to watch basketball. And that isn't just nostalgia talking either. It is just the way it was. Game in and game out.
"You are simply the standard by which basketball excellence is measured." - David Stern
Great reaction though! Good to see the younger generation appreciating this man and respecting the heights he took this game to.
*Quick side note: He returned with number 45 because before his Father passed, he talked about playing baseball, thus his retirement. That number was the number he played baseball in as a kid. He didn't want to use 23 after coming out of retirement because that was the last number his Father saw him play in. But that changed when Nick Anderson of the Magic said "45 is not 23" after the Magic took games 1 & 2 of their playoff series. Just for context, 23 was back and the next season they went 72-10 with the Championship. Jordan was MVP averaging 30ppg and didn't skip a beat.

Just answering some of your questions in the video
    - 48 inch vertical ties for 1st in the HISTORY of the NBA
    - AVERAGE 3-Point shooter ( VERY, VERY, VERY FEW players shot 3's back then. Concentration on that started about 10 years ago though the volume per team increased. The TEAMS of the 80's and 90's averaged about 9 3-pointers per game whereas today the average is about 22. It was an "Inside-Out" game where they would focus more on the big men whereas today, it is more guard play.
    - It wasn't that people were just falling "back then," he would make just as many people fall today and if you pay attention to all the people that fell in this video with the exception of one (because his teammate made him trip over himself on the game winner) they are NOT sliding their feet because he switched directions to fast to where they didn't open up their stance and hips to turn and your feet are too close together to move.
    - It is HIGHLY overstated how the athlete of the 80's and today have changed! Nutrition has helped (they make more money to focus on things as such), technology has helped (better training facilities which helps with recovery time which is why they should stop comparing the athlete of today because CLEARLY the very same logic they use could show that they are weaker today for not playing more minutes and games in MY opinion), and another HUGE advantage of today is travel (Now teams have Private Jets, whereas in the 80's and some parts of the 90's, teams had to fly commercial which is less rest in between cities and they STILL played back to backs as well.)
    - There we're plenty of "athletes" in the league at that time, but when it came to MJ's jumping ability, he could hang in the air longer than most and would do the SAME thing today! (Don't let a few people fool you into believing that all or even most can jump with or like this man. Just as Lebron is, MJ too, was a freak of nature with his physical abilities which was another advantage. This is FACT, not an opinion.) If so many people can jump with him today or have his leaping ability, I'll wait... for their vertical to display 48 or higher. There are a few guys in the league that is or were pretty damn athletic now, like there were then. Ain't shit changed.
    - There are VERY FEW players that can even hang with him with his arial creativity, like a Kyrie as one example, but for the most part, most players don't have this in their arsenal and the jumping ability that keeps them in the air a little longer. It would be nice to add Bron, but that was never apart of his game. Bron's jumping ability and sheer size would just move your ass out the way.
    - Retired in 93' the first time with an almost 2 year lay off to play baseball. Left the second time in January of 99 and came back in October of 01' with wizards.
    - 3-Peated TWICE
    - 45 was his high school number
    - Pippen did indeed SHARE assignments with MJ depending on the size of the player on the other team. Like in 91' he tries to guard Magic who is 6'9 and Pippen is 6'8 and longer than MJ. Magic was giving MJ problems, but keep it a stack...MJ WAS ALWAYS a problem on the other end.
    - You caught the Wizards/ Hornets question
    - And that last shot my friend...that shit WON the championship in Game 6 in his final game with the Bulls.
    - Last point I'd make, He was LITERALLY your blue and true ALL AROUND basketball player. They keep saying Lebron, but the last time I checked...all around means you're GREAT on both ends of the floor and Jordan was usually the best Offensive player on the court and arguably the best Defensive player on the court. What you see in these highlights were a TASTE of what he did LITERALLY...EVERY DAMN NIGHT! Opposing players did not want to end up on a poster or embarrassed in front of their family.
He was heartless...and fearless. I'm 42, and I played this game beyond college and have played around the world and even with quite a few NBA players of my age and trust me when I say, Lebron is special...Kobe was special, but Mike was something different bruh.
You like who you like, you want to mimic your game after who you like and that's all cool, but when it comes to THIS GAME, to have ALL of the skills, athleticism, intangibles, and straight fucking will...I personally have yet to see any ONE player have all of those things like he did. PERIOD.
Yes Kobe played like him, but lacked MJ's physical gifts meaning he wasn't as athletic. Bron, to ME has lacked SOME of the skills and definitely the will at times. When I say skills, I mean BASIC fundamentals. Most moves you saw were the result of MJ's footwork and basic fundamentals. He had handles, but NOT like Iverson or Kyrie per se. That wasn't his game. He did the least amount of movements to create space whether that was on the ground or in the air to get the shot off.
He was the Total Package and that has nothing to do with an era. My era would be Kobe, Duncan, Dirk, T- Mac, Vince's to name a few. It's in the middle. So I have seen all 3 and this is just what I saw and just my opinion.
Good video youngsta...last thing...that FIRST reaction you had in the opening dunk...that face ...that's what EVERYONE usually expresses bruh! Don't let anyone fool you! They know what it is! Poetry In Motion...

45 Jordan still the greatest player in history, just rusty af being away from the game for 1.5 years and training his body to play baseball every day, it really affected his game. He would miss a few shots that he was renown to making, and it was the first time we saw him 'lose a step' due to playing baseball + aging finally kicking in. He created all new strategies and footwork and evolved his game to a higher level to counter the aging. He was like 36 in his final year and still ate everyone ALIVE!
Due to all the insane hard work and media circus draining him mentally & emotionally, he burnt out.
Along with the GM thinking he was more important than the team, created so much drama that the team dismantled and he officially retired from the Bulls forever.
He only returned to the NBA with the Wizards as a Owner to teach a lazy un-motivated, leaderless team how to win. But at this time Jordan was like 39 years old, and you could really see a heaviness in his footwork & jumping weighing him down. He had no support, no side-kick players like Pippen/Rodman, no brilliant coaches like Tex and Phil Jackson. So the Wizards attempt was an utter failure. It humbled everyone that greatness is made by a supportive cast, and that father time is undefeated when it comes to old age.
Jordan was not the generation's greatest player, he was an anomaly - a once in a lifetime genius, like Mozart. We may never see another in a perfect alignment of factors allowing another human to surpass him, and if there is another great, it might not be for 200+ years.
Lebron can't hold a candle to Jordan for various reasons.

MJ is simply the greatest...10 time scoring champion, defensive player of the year, 9 time 1st team all defense, 6 finals MVP awards, 2 three peats, 5 time league MVP and was as clutch as you can get. Anybody that says he couldn't shoot 3's doesn't know what they're talking about. He could shoot them but the 3 point shot just wasn't as much a part of the game as it is now. He did it all with one team and didn't go out trying to create super teams in order to win. Instead of joining other top stars on a team, he took pleasure in keeping them from getting rings. As cool as these highlights are, it's nothing like watching him play live.

The reason he chose 45 was becuse that was his number in jv in high school. When he got to varsity, his older brother was already wearing 45, so he cut the number in half and rounded up to 23.

I honestly believe that if Michael Jordan played today he would honest-to-god average 35-5-7
And the reason I say that is because he would still figure out a way to get to the hoop even though people are allowed to zone now. But because he would be forced to work on his 3-pointer and knowing he's the person that created Kobe's Mamba mentality he would definitely be knocking them down. Even back then he was averaging what 33% from the 3 point during a time where the average 3-point percentage was 34%? So it's not like he's trash at 3 but as you've seen he didn't need to shoot the three because he could at will just dunk on every single player in the NBA or acrobat lay up on all of them.

Easy. He had no limitations athletically so he woulda adapted to the style, which 100% caters to offense now. He adapted his game a few times in his career, and he woulda done it today. He’s still be the best athlete on the court, with massive hands (underrated advantage) and the desire to kill you. LBJ is bigger but he’s not faster, he doesn’t jump higher, and he doesn’t have the same agility the way Mike can twist/change directions airborne. Dude was a unicorn.

There's not a player today that takes over games like MJ used to do, and the thing that separates MJ from the players today is that the NBA back in the 80s and 90s was a totally different league, the NBA today is soft compare to back then, to get a flagrant foul called on you back then you needed to be bleeding unlike today if you just touch him in the head they tossing you out the game, watching MJ play was a one in a life time opportunity, the man was incredible..

You say no one was jumping with him (They were) BUT what you don't get in high light films is his actual explosiveness. MJ was so quick he could stop on a dime and change directions and offenders didn't have time to react before he was gone. THAT coupled with NO ONE wanted to be in that news clip for their kids, families & friends to see on national television for the next month/yrs to come. He was FEARED by all and NEVER cowered from ANYBODY. He played injured, sick, tired it didn't matter. Teams who never really filled a stadium would have standing room only when the Bulls and Mike came to town. He elevated the actual game of basketball everywhere.
