Very underrated. And might I add that he not only beat the hell out of a set of drums, but he did it with exquisite precision and an unshakable groove. We were fortunate to have Tony.

Tony was an absolute monster - he doesn't get the respect he deserves because he's too often thought of as a "disco" drummer: but a disco drummer with enough balls to play with Led Zeppelin. RIP Tony - miss ya - big time.

And Chic are too often thought of as just 'disco'. Chic albums are packed full with musicians' chops, tasty chord sequences and wonderful grooves. You're meant to dance to it but it's FAR more thsn just 'disco'.

Tony was the main reason I was a fan, initially. When they were hot, I was still a kid and even though I knew the other members from their other works, It was his drumming that really, really caught my attention....and still does. Over the years I realized he played for so many other artist as a session musician. As I look back now, it was always his drumming in the other artist songs that got my attention even though I didnt know it was him at the time. Anyway, I'll always be fan and it's a shame we lost both he and Robert so soon! We miss ya!

Tony was a great drummer and from what I can see he was intelligent and pleasant to talk to.

Tony Thompson is underrated because he never makes the lists of the best drummers hardly ever. He's never spoken about when they speak of greatest drummers. I've NEVER seen Tony on any list above the Top 40. Such a shame, too. I've followed his drumming since I was learning to play drums in 1979. Power Station were good, but his drumming and Robert Palmer's vocals drove them to be as memorable as they are.

A look of wondering if Andy Taylor was actually going to show up and finish his parts for the Notorious album I bet. Two band members of Duran did not re-enter the fold, if I've got it correct. A paired down 'version,' of Duran would tour that summer. I got to see them for that show. John Taylor and Steven Ferone were an amazing pairing.
