- "LESS is MORE" resonates in this week's review on monopod. 3 Legged Things' new Alana carbon travel monopod is one of the simplest, lightweight professional monopod you can currently buy. Compare to many others I've reviewed in this channel, the Alana is a refreshing and back to basic approach. Is it good? Let's find out. #photography #microfourthirds #omsystem

I bought this as a result of your recommendation ! It's fantastic. !
Same. It`s perfect!
Thanks for a great review.
Need to add this to my optimum, thank you.
Purchased this along with the Airhed Pro, goes along nicely with my Bucky!
I'm saving up for a full frame monopod.
LOL
great monopod!
Are you putting a Amazon or other site to this. I'm not sure how you are spelling it? This seems like an excellent possibility!
Thanks Jimmy, great video. I am interested in this product, but I use an OM-5. I am worried about the screw in connection within the polycarbonate housing on the OM-5. Would I need to attach a frame around the camera body and to screw onto the monopod, i.e., to take the stress off the connection on the OM-5? Thanks.😊
This has been well discussed before, the E-M5 II/III and OM-5 all have the same design, just that the last two generations have plastic bodies instead of metal. What I would say is that I use my these cameras on tripods for self filming and gorilla pods for vlogging and never runs into problem. I always say that the tripod mount has been stress tested to hold certain weight. OM-5 is designed as a light system and if you plan to use heavy lenses, you should use tripod collars if available. I've used my OM-5 with 12-100 f4 Pro (pretty heavy and without a collar) on tripod which was ok. Just remember don't lean on the lens and put more weight on the set up as it will damage the body. Same can be said for metal E-M5 II as well, while it may not crack, but it will bend. I am hoping future generation of OM-5 will have this addressed and move the mount somewhere else, just in case but for me, it hasn't been a problem (yet).
@@Red35Photography thank you
Nice review, but now a technical question. Olympus/OMS says to turn off IBIS when using a tripod, but should you when using a monopod? My sense is to leave IBIS on as a monopod is not absolutly stable like a tripod. What do you do? Thanks!
Yes, you can leave IBIS on as you will still sway and move while using it.
@@Red35Photography That's what I thought. Thanks!
It's like you're carrying Thor's hammer! 😁 Love the review!
😁
"3 Legged Thing" is the company name... I was confused as well trying to find this...
this is One-legged thing.
60kg means you could theoretically use it as a high seat for a child.... (Definitely NOT recommending that however!)
