    Hi Leigh, very entertaining and informative view of the PSR XS900. I was taking piano lessons when I was 7 years old, unfortunately I had my knuckles whacked if the sound of the scales and very, very basic tunes was off. Unsurprisingly I gave it away, but I have always had a love for the keyboards. To look at 88 keys at 62 years of age this is dawning and a big ask, I have limited years to perfect any kind of credible skill where people wont scatter when I approach the piano. I felt after viewing your very honest appraisal of this machine the Keyboard from what you said is addictive and user friendly, and induces enjoyment using the Keyboard, making it a learning experience rather than doing practice, don’t get me wrong practice is very important but this machine inspires rather and retires the user. Your comments on the mixer were very accurate, as the Genos 2 has a physical mixer on board coupled with LED lighting, which really is something its a wonderful machine. On the flip side this machine proves less is more, and I can move it without employing 4 people to move it, and added to that, the cost of getting a piano tuned every year. If I live for the day where the hack label vanishes and I can give some reasonable pleasure to others in the same room, that will be a great day. Love your comments, humour and your passion for the keyboards, You have inspired me to endeavour on a keyboard adventure hopefully the loved ones around me won’t be investing in ear Muffs.
    Thanks again for your CZcams appraisal of the PSR SX900. You are very talented keep on inspiring. To summarise your comments the PSR XS900 is the affordable luxury keyboard where you are only limited by your own imagination.

    I bought the SX900 about 6 months ago, I have multiple electric pianos which I enjoy playing , my favorite being the MP11 by Kawai, the SX900 I bought as a retirement present for myself. Its a fun instrument to play, I really like the Quality of the sounds and the wide range of sounds and rhythms on it, the guitars are pretty realistic and the accordions sound like your playing the real thing the pianos are not as fun to play as on my MP11 because of the organ action but the keyed is great for the rest of the sounds. Great Playing!

    Thanks Leigh a great unbiased video, I value your opinion as you have been in the business for many years, I can remember purchasing new sounds for my keyboard from you years ago. I have been a player for ages and am trying to decide to upgrade from my Tyros 3 to the sx900. I have thought about the Genos but as I am getting on a bit I fancy something lighter to lug around. But it’s a bit tempting when you can get a series 1 Genos for about £2500.now . So many choices. Thanks once more, keep up the good work

    Very good. I have had the SX-900 for a few years now, and actually thought of the Medeli, but the difference is just too much. The SX-900 is worth the extra money. The Medeli is fine for the price though. BTW, I agree separate volume control knobs for voice volume would be great. You can set that up somewhat with Live Control knobs

    So the hardware quality (I found it really good with the AKX10) isn't that far apart, but the main reason for the much higher price is the software quality. While the hardware requires the full use of materials and manufacturing effort for each individual piece, the software, once developed, can be copied millions of times with almost zero effort. And then you pay another 100% surcharge for the brand name. The world isn't fair, but damn: I like the SX700/900 sound!

    • @LeighWilbraham
      @LeighWilbraham  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Medeli has the means to be a great instrument but lacks the content. 😌

    • @reinhardtilker8552
      @reinhardtilker8552 Před 5 měsíci

      @@PGHEngineer No, I didn't mean it that way at all. I'm a software engineer myself, and of course we all want good pay for good work. I just wanted to point out the following: Before you can build your first keyboard, you have an expensive hardware development process and an expensive software development process as well.
      But as soon as you start production, you will have the full use of materials and full labor costs for each individual keyboard. On the other hand, the software for each additional keyboard costs you almost nothing more because it only has to be copied, i.e. you have a much higher profit margin on the software.
      However, in Germany we say "The better is the enemy of the good", and that describes my suffering with Yamaha and Medeli quite accurately. 😉

      Well the PSR-E373 (launched fall 2020) has just been replaced by PSR-E383. (PSR-SX600 has also been launched in fall 2020). As I recall it, it takes one year after the launch of a new flagship for the upper middle class PSR to emerge. So, PSR-SX910 available by mid/fall 2025...
      On the other hand, they have lengthened the flagship product lifecycle. Before Genos, it was a new Tyros every 3 years.

    If you look closely there is a film on the Medeli that you have to peel off which is probably what you're feeling lol. And you're right you get what you paid for. There is no comparison I have them both plus the dgx670. So you wouldn't expect a 700.00 dollar arranger to sound like a 2,400.00 unit 3 times the cost lol. Excellent video though. And nice playing.
