📝 The best way to capture and organize web content in Notion is to use a free and popular third-party browser extension called Save to Notion. Save to Notion is basically the Notion Web Clipper extension (official extension from Notion) on steroids!
Using the Notion Add-On "Save to Notion," you're able to clip (i.e. capture) any type of content on the web. Whenever I come across interesting content, I like to quickly capture and organize that content into a Notion database so I can quickly find it later.
In general, I save 2 types of content using this workflow: Educational "how-to" type of content, and creative content that inspire me to make changes to my life. For example, if I'm trying to learn how to fast, I would clip relevant video and text-based article content and group them under a "Health and Fitness" category
When I watch online videos, I often feel inspired by something in that video: be it a product I might consider purchasing or an editing technique I'd like to try out in my next video. The Save to Notion extension enables me to seamlessly save any type of web content into my Notion database and it's been an absolute life-changer!

Finally someone who has some in-depth notion workflows and real world uses. I feel like there are SOOOO many people using Notion just on the surface. Great to see
Thank you JJ! Would love to learn a few tips and tricks from you as well 😁
Sorry to say too long a workflow to implement, too many things to remember & you need dependencies installed.
Not for me.
Omg this is so good! I have to *steal* this too

Hi Jeff!
It is incredible how you are listening to my need ! From a week now, I am working on such a Capture+Organize web content system, studying several tools (including Notion)... and you come with you personal solution!
Marvelous!
I will give a try, thanks so much, mate!
Edit: the highlight adding functionality is sick!!!
Must be fate 😉. Haha in all seriousness I'm glad this came at a perfect time for you!! 😁
I don't know what I'd do without you Jeff 😭🥺 Your videos are super helpful!
I don't know what I'd do without amazing viewers like yourself either!!
Love the way you organize the information into a super straightforward narrative that both informs and entertains. Perfect format. Just became a member. Cheers and thank you!
Thank you SO much for the support 😁
Thanks for the templates Jeff. 25 years of spreadsheet and docs conditioning is making Notion a slight learning curve. But the change is worth it, and your templates encourage me to stick to Notion. Thanks bud.
Woohooo glad to hear it Steve 😁

Well as a muslim, fasting is no stranger to us. However, most non-muslims only know about the obligatory 1 month fasting (1 month in a year). There's actually a 'Sunnah' or an encouraged practice which is fasting on every Monday and/or Thursday. I find it very helpful to be honest, doing it weekly helps me be more mindful and in control of what I eat on a weekly basis than just fasting on random days and months.
That's awesome to hear! Thanks for teaching me something new today!
Superb vid again Jeff !! 👌 thank you so much 😎
Thank you my friend! You're very welcome again!!
really cool is what I was searching for, very simple and easy to use
Glad to hear it! Let me know how it works out for you 😁
Thank you for your videos. I also follow Ali and Mr. Frank... you are bringing your own valuable content to the table. Definitely helping me. Regarding saving content... if you include the content, a hack I saw 'somewhere'... once the page is created, select all, cut... then your template option is visible again... select your preset template... then 'paste' back in the content. For me, this is faster and would allow me to read/edit/ take notes, add comments, link, highlight, all from within the Notion page, creating less work from jumping back and forth, and if I don't have time to finish... it's at least contained.
This is excellent! I have been thinking about how I can start organizing useful content for inspiration and information that I can use for my work and this is just so timely!
Thank you, Jeff.
That's what I LOVE to hear Isaiah, glad I could be of service 😁😁

Good luck with your fast, Jeff. I know you will be deliberative and mindful about it. I'd recommend miso soup, very diluted for sodium intake, and of course plenty of water. You may also want to have your fast coincide with a long distance but non-strenuous trek. Walking as a form of meditation. ☮️
Ooooooo good point with Miso Soup! But will there be any sugar in there....? Yes I heard walking while sipping water (while on a fast) is a great idea

I have been enjoying this extension but is there anything similar for mobile? Lets say if I m reading up an article from certain apps or webpage in safari?
The Notion app might let you clip it automatically
Great workflow Jeff, definitely have not emerged from the caveman form...😂 curious as to how easy it is to move from one platform to another, if you used something different prior to notion and transitioned across / if you were to move to a new platform in the future ❓
Hm...I started off with Google Docs then have been using Notion for the past 1.5 years now (thanks to Ali Abdaal lol). I can't see myself changing to another platform/app unless something amazing comes out (I've been keeping tabs on Microsoft Loop)
This is the Best clipper--- for notion....i use it regularly
I wonder if the Notion team will ever improve upon their own Web Clipper or work with Anis (developer for Save to Notion)
@@JeffSu it is best they come up with their own so it would be more integrated
@@raghavansrinivas1379 Exactly!
Can Notion AI or OpenAI be utilized to automate the summarization and bullet-pointing of notes within the Notion database?
Yes that works! I talk about it in my latest Notion tips video 😁
Hey Jeff, how do you decide what to take notes on and what not? Since I implemented your system I feel like I should take notes on every podcast/article I read/listen, which is great but I also realised I am able to read less
Hi Alberto! That's a great question although I'd say the answer is highly personalized. For me if I feel I need to refer back to it in the next ~6 months or so, I'll capture and save it
And about fasting so as a Proud Muslim we have obligatory one month fast from dusk (3am) to dawn (7pm) roughtly around 15 hours in my country. We are not allowed to eat/drink/curse/bad deed etc. So yeah its quite refreshing for soul and body. And you feel awesome and energetic. And its not hard because i have done it in mid summer 45 degree without ac just take shower haha so don't give up.
Thanks for sharing! I'll hopefully be able to update you all once I try my first prolonged fast 😁
Hi Jeff! I am curios to know if you manage to focus after 20 hours of fasting and how are taking sodium. Just a tea spoon in the water?
I haven't started yet! I'm going to do it next week!
Always thought it was kind of silly that Notions official web clippers didn't allow me to edit fields at the time of entry. Save to Notion looks like the perfect answer to that. I've simply got to try it now!
Let me know how it goes Brandon 😁
SAVE TO NOTION Does this not work with email? I’ve noticed I can only get it to fill in info from the page if it’s a webpage and not an email from gmail interface.
Yup I think that's one of the limitations!
@@JeffSu OK Cool. Wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong. Does anyone have a good way of getting emails into Notion including the body of the email and attachments?
Hey, wanted to ask something.
I recently came across an issue that let's say we use an external icon for a page.
Means from any other icon website.
Let's say we took a black outlined icon for a Light theme.
But when we turn it into Dark theme, the icon becomes translucent.
Is there a way of automating icons for different themes.
I don't think there is something like that directly in Notion.
But any third part app you've discovered?
Would be great if you could help!
Thanks!
Oh that's an interesting question! I honestly don't know, but I feel like there should be? I usually just stick with 1 theme the whole time haha (either light or dark)
Another great video, thanks. What is the best way to web capture for mobile? I'm having trouble with this. When I hit the share icon on mobile and pick Notion my databases don't show, only pages. Do you have a workaround? Thanks, again.
Unfortunately not until StN comes out with a Mobile extension/app 😅
Does this add on capture any data or clean data that the web clipper does not? I use the reader view on iOS safari and then I use share to notion so that I get only text and media not the other dom elements
Hm...not sure what the question is here Kyle, could you please elaborate? 😅. The official web clipper app has very few features compared to the Save to Notion extension
Right, the extra features are great but I am curious of how it copies the page. I.e. only copy the important text in the article, not the navigation and other irrelevant content. I assume it’s the same as the the official web clipper.
Thank you for a great tutorial and template 👍 I have a question. Before downloading a page, is it possible to check whether there is a duplicate of this page in the database and whether we have already downloaded it? Or if not, how can I verify it after saving?
In Notion? I don't think so
Great video Jeff! Just getting started in Notion.
I do a lot of research on my phone while I a killing time.
So while I'm scrolling through social media or CZcams I find articles, links, videos, reels, etc which I want to save and review later.
They fall into about several major categories:
Work project 1
Work project 2
Work project 3
Work project 4
Photography
Guitar
Patenting
Or stuff I want to share with someone.
I'm on an android so when I share to notion, it only gives me one "my links" option.
I want to add some additional context including a quick note about it similar to notion saver chrome extension.
Anyone solved for this?
From your Android phone? Sorry can't help you there :(
Hey Jeff, how can I customize the position where the highlights appears on the Template? For instance, instead of highlights appearing right above the Key takeaway header, how do you make it appears after Notes header?
Unless the developer updates the extension, I think it's the only option we have right now :(. For me I don't mind dragging the blocks down to the appropriate section
Another helpful video Jeff! I have discovered Notion by watching your videos and I’m excited to organize my life! Quick question, is this also doable in mobile phones? I usually save links to my phone and I have to copy paste the content. Wondering if there’s a way to replicate this if im using my phone?
Currently I believe we can "only" use the official Notion mobile app. But that combined with creating an "unorganized view" I mentioned in this video should be suitable for your needs!
@@JeffSu awesome! Thanks Jeff!

I am concerned about having all my pertinent information on the Notion server & something goes wrong 😑 eg. Server down & everything lost 😞. Can you recommend a similar app that you are able to store everything on your computer 💻? Thank you

How do you clip videos using youtube mobile app?
I usually just save the link to watch later and then clip when I'm on a laptop/desktop
This is awesome. Is there a way to achieve this on iOS? I'm looking to add a page on Safari to a database and have the ability to add a tag/category (similar to what you have here as a reading list). Based on my research so far, I may have to use the Notion API and create a shortcut.
Hey Zach! So you want to use Save to Notion in a different browser right? Not a different OS? In that case I'm not sure because the developer for StN might not have an extension for Safari...
Hola Jeff, me encantan tus videos y son muy buenos pero sería ideal si tiene subtitulos en español.

What's the extension?
@@JeffSu Its the same you are presenting, Save to Notion. But I wish I could add more specific shortcuts for actions like Select Image or Take custom area screenshot. Also I wish it was in the Right click menu when saving an image for example. BTW there is a typo with the extension i think. When i hover the Icon in Chrome, the info tag says Notion Saver instead of Save to Notion. Otherwise, the feature to save Data on Page with CSS Selector is fantastic !

That extension is dead; those core feature is now premium ($3/monthly)
Before premium - Work like a charm.

- Keep loading
- If the article is long, it does not capture images. I do not know why!!!
- Database, does not show if you have many even on search.

I think mobile web/in-app clipping is more important nowadays than desktop web-clipping. Imagine you do research on mobile CZcams/Tiktok and want to quickly save to notion, you will see it is suck, all columns wrong
That's a good point!
Oh boy, fasting... It depends on what kind of fast are you focusing on. Low sugar? Low fat? Fast in general?
Myself, I am an Orthodox Christian, and rules for fasting are quite ok. What I have noticed though is that, although it is important HOW you fast, it is also important, if not more, WHEN and for HOW LONG you fast.
That's a good point! I'm just going for a 48 hour fast I think!
@@JeffSu Well, then you can easily go with anything. In Orthodox Christianity, you have five types of fasting, but most of the believers stick to two: "on the oil" and "on the water". Both include refraining from meat, animal fat, milk, eggs, fish and all derived products (cheese, butter, heavy cream etc.). This also includes refraining from alcoholic beverages, with the exception of wine.
On the water means that you can eat foods that are prepared with water eg. boiled vegetables. No wine.
On the oil extends the previous fast by adding foods prepared on vegetable oil, and you are allowed to drink wine.
These are the very, VERY basic principles for this type of fasting. It reminiscent of half-veganism, if that can be said at all.
As far as the other types go, Intermittent Fasting is very effective in weight regulation and health betterment. This type of fasting is when you eat only between 10am and 4pm, you refrain from eating from 4pm to 10am next day. In other words, you can eat during the period of 8 hours each day, as long as your last meal is on 6pm at the latest. The cycle goes: 8 hour period you are allowed to eat, 16 hours you should not eat. But, this type of fasting is for longer periods of time, few months at least.
I hope this gave you some general info. If I remember anything else, I'll let you know.
@@aaaaaaaabre ok wow. I learned something new today! Thank you!!
@@JeffSu You are very welcome. :)
While I'm a big fan of fasting, I'm skeptical of advice from Thomas Delauer. I've found Jason Fung's work to be more credible.

Wouldn't status of "Not Started" be more useful if there are no action items? Or "N/A" ... something that separates it from actual WIP. I can see keeping and capturing web content that would have no action items, are informational only, that should not fall in WIP or Completed buckets.
For me it's more like "have I started to review what I captured" yet
how about optimizing it???
Optimizing what?
