Was Jesus Black? What was his skin color?

  • There's white Jesus. There's black Jesus. There's Asian Jesus. There's brown Jesus. Which is right? Kyle Spears has a few things to consider:
    1) the Bible does not mention Jesus' skin color
    2) Jesus probably looked like men from the Middle East
    3) God lets us imagine how Jesus looked
The Black Hebrew Israelites believe that Jesus was black. Are they right?

White or black, if you need Jesus to look like you to love him, you have entirely missed who he is and what he has accomplished for you. People are worshipping their skin color, not their savior

David Mayo Nobody is saying we need Jesus to look like us to love Him. First I love Christ because He died for our sins ,no matter what color. Secondly, You are missing the point of His physical appearance. If you don’t know I understand that you don’t care to know. The Bible was written in Hebrew. Most Hebrew Israelites are of color! This is not a race war we all are God’s children. Even Michelangelo, Raphael and Pope Julius knew Christ was of color. Look at Michelangelo painting the Sistine chapel.....That’s 400 years ago ,you will see Jesus at the top left carrying a cross. Look at his skin color painted. You will see at the bottom in the same painting at the bottom right side of black people in hell. They thought back then blacks was the devils. Whitewash for centuries to keep us blind. The Bible was written for people of color stories of their lives and at the end Christ fulfilled the scriptures and made it true.
This is not a race war nor that I am worshiping my skin color. I am proud of who I am. God allowed me to see the spirit world and not many can say that they have at all. I am truly blessed to see Angels and demons and other things in this world . I can describe them better than anyone of you. I am God’s living witness!!

I am sick of having to copy and paste this to people: Revelation 1:14-15 where it says his head (not hair) was as white as wool and feet like burnished bronze. People think this meant his hair was like the texture of wool which would make them think he was African but that is 100% wrong. It didn't say hair like wool, it said HEAD like wool. It was talking about how his face was glowing like the color of wool. He just rose from the dead so this would make sense his face was like a bright light. And then they think he was black because of his feet being compared to bronze. Bronze is a dark color but when it's burnished, it is glowing like a light. He just rose from the dead. It has nothing to do with a black color. His own apostles didn't even recognize him so obviously this wasn't describing what he looked like before he rose from the dead anyway.
But if I had to guess, I'd say he was tan. Not white or black.

Can I say this. Some people think they have won the argument of how Jesus looked like if they say he was a Middle Eastern or 'Jewish'. The Truth is ancient Hebrews were Africans and Blaq like the Ancient Egyptians not Arabic like Hittites/Assyrians/Babylonians or yt like Greeks/Philistines/Romans. The land ancient Israelites inhabited was North East Africa which was very close to Egypt making it between Egypt and the Middle East so to speak. It very important to mention that the Ancient Egyptians once controlled some of the land as far as Syria.

A Yoke That Is Kindly and a Load That Is Light
“Come to me, all you who are toiling and loaded down, and I will refresh you. Take my yoke upon you and become my disciples.”-Matt. 11:28, 29.
EVERYWHERE you go these days you see people who are tired. They not only come home from work tired and go to bed tired, but they get up in the morning tired and go to work tired. Their faces are lined with circles of exhaustion and their bodies are often bent to the shape of the heavy burdens they bear. Even little children, boys, girls and teen-agers complain about being tired. Why are people so tired these days? What can they do to find refreshment for their souls?
The old and young are reacting to the intolerable pressures of our times. Just getting to work on time has become an exhausting feat in some locations. The early-morning traffic in cities is a hazard in itself. It is an hour when the courtesy of the road is all but a forgotten gesture. Usually the trains are packed and the buses and subways are jammed with unhappy faces. The production-conscious boss who is strong on efficiency and weak on empathy is hardly an inspiration to face. Then there is the whole unwholesome atmosphere of competition and rivalry on the job, or of speech habits that have become immoral and degrading, or the strain of association with those who lie, cheat and steal from one another without hesitation. Now couple this with the burdens of the high cost of living, increased taxes from year to year, the strains brought on one due to fear-the fear of being robbed, raped or harmed, the fear of losing one’s job, one’s property, or the fear of becoming sick with no one to care-and you begin to sense the tremendous pressures of our times, the load that is on mankind.
3 But this is not all. Add to this the weight brought on by the immoral, degraded and corrupt practices of the political systems, the military and commercial systems, their wars, revolutions and injustices. Couple this with the heavy burdens of world religion, the cost of perpetuating worn-out, worthless, traditional systems, empty cathedrals and faithless ministers. Throw in the burdens brought on by wayward youth, the crime, violence and riots of our era, and one can begin to understand why people are tired. The Bible speaks of “all creation” as “groaning together and being in pain together,” because “the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.” (Rom. 8:22; 1 John 5:19) People are tired of the giant octopuslike system that has ensnared them and is slowly crushing them lifeless. (Rev. 13:16-18) But what can they do about it? How can they come out from under the system and find refreshment for their souls?
      THE GRAND INVITATION
      4. What solution did Jesus propose for those who are toiling and loaded down?
4 When the Son of God, Jesus Christ, walked the face of the earth over nineteen hundred years ago, there were oppressed people on earth then as there are now. Jesus recognized their plight and proposed a solution. The solution that Jesus gave constitutes the grand invitation to come to him for refreshment for their souls. Jesus said: “Come to me, all you who are toiling and loaded down, and I will refresh you. Take my yoke upon you and become my disciples, for I am mild-tempered and lowly in heart, and you will find refreshment for your souls. For my yoke is kindly and my load is light.” (Matt. 11:28-30) In these beautifully phrased words lies the solution. But to whom was this grand invitation given? And what do these words mean to us living in this twentieth century?
The invitation is extended to all those who are toiling and loaded down. In Jesus’ day the reference was made specifically to those who were under obligation to the Mosaic law. At Acts 15:10 the Christian apostle Peter, speaking to the older men of Jerusalem, said: “Why are you making a test of God by imposing upon the neck of the disciples a yoke that neither our forefathers nor we were capable of bearing?” Peter was referring to the Mosaic law as a yoke that obligated them to an unbearable burden. Not because the law in itself was burdensome; it was not. The law was “holy and righteous and good.” (Rom. 7:12) But imperfect man found it burdensome because he could not meet its perfect standard. Christ freed all those yoked in this manner from this obligation.-Gal. 3:13.
The grand invitation to “come to me, all you who are toiling and loaded down,” was also extended to those burdened down by the vain traditional systems of the day. Speaking of the scribes and Pharisees who fostered these traditions, Jesus said: “They bind up heavy loads and put them upon the shoulders of men, but they themselves are not willing to budge them with their finger.” (Matt. 23:4;Mark 7:2-5) By being so particular about the minor details, the Pharisees completely overlooked the weightier matters of justice, mercy and faithfulness. Jesus freed people from such enslaving tradition, which was vain worship.-Matt. 15:1-9.
7 The invitation was also addressed to those who felt the crushing weight of Caesar’s domination and taxation; and to those who felt themselves “skinned and thrown about like sheep without a shepherd.” (Matt. 9:36; 22:17-21) The application of Jesus’ solution would bring refreshment for these too.
8 Jesus also addressed himself to those who felt the weight of their sins through an afflicted conscience. The practice of sin leads to degradation and corruption of the lowest kind, and turns men into the greatest poverty. (Matt. 6:23) These could be freed of their burden by responding to Jesus’ invitation to “come to me.”

Shem stayed east and was the father of all middle-eastern Hebrews and Arabs, including Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Esau. The Whites and Blacks are not Hebrews or Arabs at all. They are descendants of Noah's other 2 sons, Ham and Japheth. What did it mean when it was said his feet like brass.
When John was given a revelation of Christ in the Isle of Patmos he described the feet of Jesus as “fine brass which burned in a furnace.” Brass is a symbol of judgment, and the furnace is a symbol of wrath, purification, and refinement. This dimension of the Lord Jesus was something quite new to John.

As a new viewer of your channel, I wanted to express how much I enjoyed your video on the importance of establishing a relationship with Jesus. In today's world, it's vital that we focus on building a close connection with our creator rather than obsessing over trivial matters such as Jesus's physical appearance. The color of his skin or the way he looks should not be our main concern. Instead, we should strive for a genuine and intimate relationship with the one who created us. Thank you for sharing this message.

It’s not about the color of His skin, it’s all about genealogy, you know the part where most people skip because they believe it’s pointless. It’s been placed in the Bible because God knew exactly how important it was to know who was who. We cannot properly understand some concepts of the end of times when we don’t even know what people group the enemy is using. When you study the history in the Bible with a Concordance then you will be able to objectively articulate things that are hidden, but God will bring to light, Jeremiah 33:3.

Like you said, people think this meant his hair was like the texture of wool which would make them think he was African but that is 100% wrong. It didn't say hair like wool, it said HEAD like wool. It was talking about how his face was glowing like the color of wool. He just rose from the dead so this would make sense his body was like a bright light.

Why does every black person if talked to online or even a friend of mine use rev1 as a description of him being black. when it's symbolic to start with but not only that It said his head and Hairs are white like wool as white as snow.. so his face is white too. This verse does not describe his hair texture or say his hair is wool. It's using wool as a color . That why John said also like snow .and The head is everything attacked to the neck.. But then his feet are described burned bronze which by today standard broze turns black but we have no idea of knowing what types of metal they used back then for there bronze so it might not have turned black. Some metals when heated turn white. But This verse is symbolic anyways otherwise Jesus has a white face and hair and black feet. But let us just ignore the rest of the Bible like Songs of Solomon 5 said he's white and ruddy said his hair was Black.. King David is described as ruddy and fair . Nazzerite women was described as white like milk and ruddy.. Bible tells us all of Israel are flesh and bones of David. And Matthew chapter 1 tells is Jesus was a descendant of David and Abraham. So it makes since according to the whole bible of what Israel looks like that Jesus would look the same..he's nether white or black.. he looked more reddish or a brown color according to the Bible...not one verse uses the word black to describe Jesus color of skin. .. and only people that want to make a God in there own imagine can read rev 1 where it said white twice and get black...

@Joshua Ben Israel well I've read scriptures where Israel people are described as white or fair skin and ruddy. Never seen one verse that uses black as a description of skin. And wool hair isn't just black people lol. And as far as I know there's only one other verse outside Revaltions that mention a wool hair.. fyi. White peoples hair will feel wool like if not washed in a few days. To say israel is black by the Bible without it ever actually saying black as a description of skin is ridiculous . If there's any verse that actually said black skin send me the verse. There's many many mannnny that said white, ruddy or fair. Describes people white like milk ECT.. never read a description that said anything to do with black skin
Lamatations 5-10 describes there skin turning black because they starving.. if they was already black this verse wouldn't make sense. Other verses like this doesn't go with a black Israel. I'm not posting every verse I'm just giving one here plus the others in my first post.. so many verses go against a black Israel. Bible doesn't support it. You have to cherry pick scripture to fit your belief

@Joshua Ben Israel I'm not saying black people wasn't in the bible. I belive Moses married a black women..I'm saying for the black Israellites to claim Israel was only black is ridiculous.. Jesus according to the Bibles discribtion of him and his family tree was not black..When king David's enemies came to him they described him ruddy and fair.. Matthew chapter one tells us Jesus is a descendant of David and Abraham.so even if we don't use the scripture of song of Solomon 5 that flat out called Jesus white and ruddy. Common sense would tell you if David was ruddy and fair then Jesus and Abraham would be too. Then the Bible said all of Israel is flesh and bones of David..so it makes sense majority of Israel would have the same skin complexion.. Nazzerite women are white as milk and ruddy.. the word ruddy comes up often describing people in the bible.. never in my life even in the hottest days have I ever seen a black guy turn red . black people turn more black that's it..black people can't turn red or black for starvation..Bible describes people turning pale in the Bible. Only light skin people can turn color bases off emotion. Or red from the sun.. I'm just saying there's plenty of scripture describing Israel color and never does it describe it black except when they was starving there skin turned black.. so if you want to say that you belive they was black because you've done research on the topic that's fine.. but you can't get that from the Bible. I asked you for just one scripture and you can't give it. I can give so many describing Israel as a light skin... And no when the Bible describes Jesus as white and ruddy. It wasn't speaking of his holyness. But I do believe in rev when it said his head and Hairs was white like wool as white as snow. I believe that describes his holyness coming from heaven.. but king David's described ruddy and fair wasn't a sign of him being holy . It said his enimeies hated him because he was young and ruddy and fair.. clear description.. but hey doesn't matter. Jesus could look like flava Flav and I wouldnt care.. skin color will doesn't matter now and Deff won't matter at the end.. love and peace my brother..

I saw some transcripted contemporaneous descriptions of him taken from ancient parchments and scrolls at Constantinople and the Vatican at Rome. Massalian described him to Gamaliel as follows: “If you ever meet him you will know him. While he is nothing but a man, there is something about that distinguishes him from every other man. He is the picture of his mother, only he has not her smooth round face. His hair is a little more golden that hers, though it is as much from sunburn as anything else. He is tall, and his shoulders are a little drooped; his visage is thin and or a swarthy complexion, though this is from exposure. His eyes are large and soft blue, and rather dull and heavy. The lashes are long, and his eyebrows very large. His nose is that of a Jew." Gamaliel also met Mary and Joseph and described them as follows: "Joseph is a wood workman. He is very tall and ugly. His hair looks as though it might have been dark auburn when young. His eyes are gray and vicious./ Mary is altogether a different character, and she is too noble to the wife of such a man. She seems to be about 40-45 years of age, abounds with a cheerful and happy spirit, and is full of happy fancies. She is fair to see, rather fleshy, has soft innocent looking eyes, and seems to be naturally a good woman."
In the Acta Pilate, Jesus is described as follows: "One day in passing by the place of Siloe, where there was a great concourse of people, I observed in the midst of the group a young man who was leaning against a tree, calmly addressing the multitude. I was told it was Jesus. This I could easily have suspect, so great was the difference between him and those who were listening to him. His golden coloured hair and beard gave to his appearance a celestial aspect. He appeared to be about thirty years of age. Never have I seen a sweeter or more serene countenance. What a contrast between him and his hearers, with their black beards and tawny complexions."

Jesus was not white. Maybe he was not black either. But if you really want to test and build up your faith, try assuming that He is the OPPOSITE of your color. If it makes a difference to you, that is when you KNOW you gotta look beyond whatever color Jesus probably was. Because then your problem is much bigger than racism or bigotry. Your problem is you are sinful like all humans and destined for hell, you need a Saviour like all humans but you might have put yourself beyond the reach of the saving message of Jesus because you get distracted if the color of the messenger is not the color you prefer. Make no mistake about it. it DOES matter to God what color you believe His Son Jesus is. If color is an issue to you and you find comfort in just sidestepping the issue by saying that Jesus ' color is irrelevant then prejudice still resides in your heart and Jesus cannot reside in any person's heart unless it is purged of any other content.

Those so-called Jews out there today do not talk like that. The devil got people today hating on Jesus Christ who was and is a brother. it was the devil's job to change his image to deceive us.
