In December 1983,there was great concert on a feival in Dortmund ,where performed Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne, MSG, Quiet Riot, Krokus, Scorpions, Def Leppard ... One of the largest TV stations in Germany, ZDF, announced the night concert titled "Rock Pop in concert". Recording from the festival was shown on that channel on 14 February 1984. This festival was very special as it was a real birthday of a huge Hard Rock and Heavy Metal scene, which gained a place in Germany and Europe. The festival has also been a platform for many groups, such as Warlock, Manowar, Metallica and others.

Back in the 1980s, Rock n'Roll was a lifestyle for many young people. We were being bombarded with the second wave of the British invasion with new sounds and musical genres, but Rock n' Roller's never wavered for the likes of the Thompson Twins, Duran Duran, INXS, or Billy Idol. Heavy metal was it, and Iron Maiden, Ozzy, Zepplin, The Stones, and all their underlings like Def Leppard, Krokus, Helix, and Wasp, just to name a few, were all we had time for. Now that I am older, I can appreciate Elton John, Billy Joel, and a host of others I would have never mentioned from 1979 to 1992! There is something to be said about getting older and appreciating all musical influences to become part of one's repertoire. But it sure feels good to go back in the time capsule and remember standing out in the audience with no cameras and that wonderful smell that filled arenas in those days; the half-naked women walking around in lingerie.
Well, INXS and Billy Idol are pretty cool as well :)
I didn't need anybody's permission to also like the Thompson Twins, Duran Duran, INXS, or Billy Idol in addition to hard rock & heavy metal. I just DID, if I did.

@@dreizweieins5348 Yes! Duran also had their roots in Punk Rock, and what Andy did later on with Steve Jones was absolutely top-notch melodic Hard Rock!

+gmlasam That's what I thought when I watched this back in 1983 ;-) I didn't really like AC/DC at that time, but after seeing Krokus I became a big fan of both bands.

Vi a Krokus por primera y única vez en Chile en el verano de 1985 en el Festival de Viña del Mar. Tenía 14 años. Ahora tengo 53. Geniales los Krokus y en especial Marc.

They might not be as big as AC/DC I like them as good as AC/DC. Saw them live in the early 80's they kick ass!!

Krokus was not bad, not bad at all. Metal Rende-Vouz is a great album.
In 1983 was a great year of Metal . Krokus just only one was great band from Switzerland .in this motion :Marc Strace/vocals ...Steve Pace/drums...Fernando Von Arb/lead guitar..Mark Kohler /bass ..another one on guitar not sure may be Mandy Mayer who later was in shadow of Steve Howe for Asia,, one of super group in 80s.

too much changes in the band, endless tours and album productions in very short time from 1979 to 1986 with only very short time off, music style changes on the albums (if you compare 1979 to 1986)... after 1988 they were only active in Switzerland/Europe with different line-ups untill 2008, then they started a reunited "classic" line-up in the music style of 1979 to 1983

Swiss band Krokus is one of the most underrated European rock bands ever. I loved them very much and never understood what happend to them since they´d belong to the biggest arenas around.

I guess the singer was offered Bon' s position but he thought Krokus was going to be bigger than AC /DC.

Understandable in a way. Living in Bon's shadow would be tough.
Marc had only just joned Krokus when the AC/DC offer to audition came in. Things wre looking great with Krokus and AC/DC were nowhere near the superstars yet they soon became with BIB. So Marc didn't see the point of leaving a great situation for another band that was only a couple of steps ahead of Krokus at the time.

You can see the talent that was yet to find it's magic, as unfortunately this is before they went in a much heavier direction with the upcoming 'Headhunter' album, songs that took the band to a whole different level. Within the next year or two their concerts absolutely rocked with songs almost entirely from Headhunter and 'The Blitz', which was not as raw as Headhunter, but still rocked.🤘
Incorrect actually. 'Headhunter' was already out when this show was filmed in December 1983. This was basically the shock unveiling of the new line-up after they had fired Chris von Rohr, with Mark Kohler switching from rhythm guitar to bass and Patrick Mason (ex-Crown, soon to join Fast Forward) joining on rhythm. Fernando was already moving toward a more glam look going blonde, foreshadowing the career killing move with 'The Blitz' and 'Change of Address', neither a patch on MRV, 'Hardware', OVAAT, and 'Headhunter'.
