    I dont know if anyone has already mentioned this in a comment, but the thing youre trying to describe on the neck are called rolled fretboard edges. Its a feature thats usually found on much more expensive guitars and is WAYYYYY more comfortable to play! its one of the features that had me intrigued in this bass.

    • @HarB0re123
      @HarB0re123 Před 4 lety +1

      doesn't it depend what type of music you're playing? I thought flat fretboards were preferred for the more shreddy stuff

      Sajeel Anjum yeah I think I've misinterpreted this comment. I agree more expensive guitars tend to have more work done on the fretboard edges. I thought it was about fretboard radius and obviously fretboard radius is not a marker of more or less expensive instruments.

    theres a used v1 for sale near me that is only a little cheaper than a brand new one. gonna go see how it plays later today, typically i prefer a 5 string due to the low tunings my band plays in, but im a sucker for onboard preamps and maple necks. Thank you for doing a review like this, its great to hear from people who have lived with the instrument for a while vs. all the "pros" like andertons and such who just pick em up and go.

      @@iamgribs I've never owned an M2, I just have the M7 but I believe the PUPs are the same. I know for sure that the preamp is. The real difference that I've noticed in playing an M2 at Guitar Center is the wood, the bridge and overall build quality. It just felt very cheap by comparison. Like I said, I'm not a big fan of the M7 either. It seems like a good choice for Gospel or some type of music that doesn't require a lot of punch but the V series basses sound much better IMO. Having said that, this is just my opinion.

      @@danielroos5426 I have M2. I find the pai t job cheap but in terms of construction it is good. I like the sound. It has ideal sound for rnb, slap, gospel reggae and other similar bass tones. I can get a good heavy metal sound. Both modern and classic. It sounds great with scooped mids which is a sound i don't generally like at all (for me). However, yes the pickups aren't hot at all. On their own, they are ok. In passive mode the tone control doesn't do shit, so active only for me. I find they work well with the preamp so that is fine. I will say the preamp is not gentle at all, it can be pretty heavy handed. You need to be smart about it.
