Today I am feeding ALL of my roaches bananas. Hope do start doing more videos like this. Hope you enjoy and if you did please like comment and subscribe and I will see you guys in the next video!
you can use nitrile or plastic (food safe) gloves if you dont like the banana texture. I enjoy that in a roach filled room that sounds like its raining from their bodies smacking the cardboard that its the banana juice that is the icky part.
Thank you! Normally I use black gloves while feeding and doing things with them. For the video and as much as I was touching my phone I didn’t use them.
love the content just subscribed, so what do you feed in the dishes to them the dry feed? and do you have any cleaner beetles in your colonies at all if so what do you use? thanks
So the short answer is yes butttt…. Only when you really start to breed as much as I do. I recommend keeping it small enough for the reptiles your feeding and you’ll be fine!
It’s time to catch up to you while I’m sick and getting sicker. My roach collection is expanding and hopefully when I’m on disability I can expand even more! I definitely love seeing a journey. I’d maybe post videos once I get my sickness at least mitigated. I love seeing your Orange heads, I have Ivories (same genus) and they definitely eat me out of my powdered diet the fastest. If you are interested, getting a dehydrator and good food processor has saved me so much money on bug food. Obvs you still have to purchase produce but overall it’s saves me a lot. My recipe for all my bugs powdered diet is Zucchini, Bell pepper, Potato, Carrot, Spring Greens, Chickpeas and Lentils for protein, Oats mainly to help the consistency, and a teeny bit of powdered sugar to make them go even crazier. I peel and dehydrate everything then blend them all and I haven’t had to buy any bug food in like half a year so far. The only thing I have to add is a moisture source. I was actually thinking about trying to add agar agar powder into my food so that you can mix it with water and create a more organic water gel substitute. Anyways, I was thinking this year I’d try selling food and vending more at expos but I am currently in a limbo where my primary goal is to stay alive for the next month (I am extremely, extremely sick 😅) So all my plans have been put off for now.
Where do you get those exact food dishes? Petco/petsmart? Could you provide link to the product? I tried a couple different food bowls, but some have more smooth edges making it hard for the small ones to climb. The exact one you are using seems to be working great even with the small ones.
Here is a link to the versions I use. You can change the size and go bigger if you need! www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-Repti-Rock-Reptile/dp/B07SJVRLD4/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?crid=XNPYDXCYUEI5&keywords=repti+rock&qid=1672938990&sprefix=repti+rock%2Caps%2C103&sr=8-7
No they do not fly or climb smooth surfaces so you woulda have to worry. The males have wings but it’s more for gliding so just make sure the top of the egg crates are not above the bins walls.
Do you have a recommendation for chicken food? As far as brand goes? I know some of the feed has antibiotics etc. do you have a brand/product # I should order?
I would recommend dubias overall as feeders over crickets but there are some stages of life that tarantulas can’t eat even the smallest dubia. That is where crickets come in. I would say after they become big enough to eat baby dubia I would switch your tarantula over.
A lot of roaches there mate. Just started breeding dubias myself for my millions of mantis 😆
Do you sell them?
Didn’t think to feed them bananas. This is helpful! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!

Do cockroach colonies smell? And if the answer is yes, do different species smell different or not?
So the short answer is yes butttt…. Only when you really start to breed as much as I do. I recommend keeping it small enough for the reptiles your feeding and you’ll be fine!

I don’t get it! I put bananas in my Dubia roaches bin, and they just ignored them, what’s the trick?
The bananas are their main water source as well as oranges so they eat everything when I feed them. I don’t have water crystals in their bins anymore.
Dubia dont fly? I wanna raised them but i scared of flying things😂

For someone who’s starting with tarantulas would you recommend to a baby tarantula dubias or crickets?
