@@CollectCarsNotRings old gays is the name of their tiktok! it's meant to poke fun at themselves, plus in the american lgbt community (the only one I can speak on, this could very much apply to other communities) it is a very good thing to be old and gay, as many gay men (and others, but my focus is on the lgbt community in this context) died during/ because of the aids epidemic. aging is very much a privilege that many gay men did not get to experience, so that is why they take a lot of pride in their name, even though the deeper meaning may not come across to everyone. they are very well respected by many!

What a strange title for this video. Nothing creepy or insane about any of the videos they watched. I thought the first ones were kinda silly but I loved the ones with the elderly guys.
the old gays were dressed as superheroes, no? they don't need to represent every gay person ever in a single TikTok. being mad at them for not being masculine is odd... can we just let the gays have fun? that aside, the title of this video is plain cruel. not hating, just hoping for better lgbtq content :p

he wasn't really trying to say that i think it was more about literally what you said but he might feel as though it yeah, DOESN'T represent the whole gay community. he wasn't mad at them for not being masculine, it was just a small observation that they seemed more confident but he thought they were just accepting themselves, so he may have felt like they should be more confident in themselves for everything. also he is self-aware in this, he literally said he thinks he is being pessimistic and then said he just felt like there should be more of a message because of the premise of the video, so that's an issue on giggle's part
Lol, Changyu is really overthinking these videos just because they're gay themed. He seems a little insecure and judgy of his fellow gays for not expressing themselves the way he does, which is disappointing but also understandable, considering his age and country of origin.
On a lighter note, I found it really funny and cute that after seeing that video about the "Debby Ryan" gesture and Changyu explaining he doesn't do it anymore but he used to when he had longer hair, he then started doing it multiple times through the rest of the video when he was talking, lol. I guess he just doesn't notice anymore. 😅

Tiktok is mostly just silly videos, I think he expected too much. Also CHANGYU needs to work on accepting himself a bit. You don't need to conform to what people say is normal or what other gay people do.If you love yourself you will find more happiness.

@@ashvnte There are many IDF soldiers on the ground uploading videos on social media of them committing war crimes and making jokes of war crimes being committed, so this is naturally causing a lot of anger in the comments whenever an IDF soldier is in a video. I'm guessing they wanted to avoid that.
If these two become close & end up being friends, Hevin would teach Changyu to see in an optimistic way or just enjoy the moment. They would make good pair of friends
As a bisexual East Asian myself, I do think that Korean social standards (or East Asian social standards in general) are different from American social standards as they are less outwardly flamboyant in their culture. The content of the tiktoks or the type of humour used in these tiktoks may be hard for them to understand or relate to for this reason.
That being said, there is never one way to be queer, especially across a global platform. Accepting that queer people look different across different cultures is but share similar experiences in being outside societal norms is, I think, something that could have been promoted a bit more here.
Still an interesting video to watch, though!
I think it's a lost in translation issue with the title. What I find enlightening, being an American & having seen many of these videos, is these two people are so nice & thoughtful of others. Many of our "sarcastic" or "American humor" based videos they just don't understand because by & large we Americans are focused on us or our immediate family, friends - our outlook on the culture are coming from different places.
Still, I like these video series, always learn something.

Honestly I'm wondering if it is a poor translation. Because I get what she is saying, people who are quick to argue online and dont watch the whole thing would get offended. But the word "snowflake" in english has a connotation of being used to hate on people with progressive viewpoints, lgbt, etc. and invalidating their struggles. I wonder if the person who translated it understood this context. Her saying "snowflakes get offended" just sounds really off

In my opinion, because he's insecure and inexperienced (I believe he's in his first relationship) at being gay, and lives in a country with a pretty homophobic culture, which he's internalized to some extent. They don't have many pride parades there, and many of them don't have much pride in their sexuality, much less a willingness to show it off in flamboyant ways online or in public.
In other words, he can't relate to gay pride.

I think this went wrong because of the language/culture divide! As a western English speaking person, I think the messages in the videos are obvious but is is clear that the message was not able to cross the language barrier at all, so the message did not get to Changgyu and Hevin. It was kind of funny to watch, but also frustrating - I wished someone was there who could explain the message to them so they could understand the point. 😂🤣

The meaning of most of the Oldgays videos is basically "neither bigots nor aids killed us, we've ran out of effs to give and we're having fun".
If you really think about what queer people their age survived, watching them shaking it in sexy power ranger outfits becomes actually a little awe-inspiring. They could have been arrested for this when they were young.

Wow really closed-minded when the point of the videos is that you are free to be yourself. Pride (the month) is really just about corporations trying to sell us stuff by putting rainbows on things. But pride in general is because we still don't have equal rights. Same reason the Civil Rights Movement had to be loud and extremely visible and sometimes violent; that's how change happens.
@@zacanger - You get my point though. The parades and social media content seem narcissistic lacking in dignity or decorum and a lot of my gay friends are annoyed by it as it propagates the stereotypes.
Also I think it’s illegal to discriminate based on sexuality so I don’t know what rights they don’t have. I get that some people will always have an issue with it and more fool them but we’ve got to the point of making it socially unacceptable to be homophobic and that’s the farthest we’ll ever get with things like this, people being people after all

But as for the legal protections - Sexuality is a protected characteristic (like race or gender) but many states still have bans on gay marriage or gay relationships. Like the abortion bans, they keep them on the books in case SCOTUS overturns Obergefell. And in about half the states, it's extremely dangerous to be trans (in Florida for example, it's now illegal to change your gender on any documents, or in Utah it's illegal to use the restroom in schools or publicly-owned buildings). So we're definitely not done fighting yet.
