The hobby one is only valid with an unemployed partner lmao. I love art, music and crafting stuff, but I'm working all week, cooking, cleaning, working out daily, walking the dogs, plus the side chores like buying groceries or administrative stuff, so no I don't have a super creative hobby. I don't have the time nor the energy.
If I was unemployed I would draw, sing or play bass. But my days off are already so full of things to do that I just can't find time for it

I barely watch tv or get interested in anything because my depression is like a constant state of dull boredom. I feel empty majority of the time regardless of what I do. I did like to read books,play PS4 ,& go fishing when I could stay interested. It's something I can't force. Self care for me is alone time,sleep, cleanliness,& working on my weightloss.

I swear, trying to get that logic through the heads of my friends has been an uphill battle since middle school. If you can still go to Claire's and Sephora, spend hours trying different hairstyles, or do crafts (knitting, drawing, sewing, soap making, etc.) while in a relationship, then your SO can too.

I love about that thing about the hobby. Very enlightening and so true. I never realized that. Here I am thinking the guy should find ways to entertain me and keep me happy. Many times I leave because I'm depending my happiness on what the guy is offering. To keep me excited.
It is good you recognized that about yourself, because it shouldn't be anyone's job to determine your happiness. The same holds for you. You can't force someone to be happy and you can end up jumping through hoops to try - and it will never work.
It is about balance, and always ask if it is balanced. If they are getting time to do what they want, are you getting the same amount to do what you want to do? If you went shopping for 4 hours, then they can play games / draw / craft for 4 hours as well. It is give and take, not give and give.

Still lives at home and is unsurprisingly single, which is fine, but hes 32, never been married, engaged, no kids. He told me he just stays at home by himself all day. Ya, that's a huge red flag and is weird. You have to have something, at least 1 thing you're very interested or passionate in and keep on it. Such a turn off.
