Reusing the Sorcery side of the black Virtue is an absolute back breaker for mono red.
Fantastic tech that also happens to work against all the Exile in Standard? Genius.
Preacher of the Schism is another underrated card to use in midrange brews. Big booty, deathtouch and pure value.
This is the first deck that I have crafted on your videos and I am having a load of fun :)
Glad to see Golgari making a come back. Used to be my favorite color combo before I found my inner control mage.
Golgari is a control color combo.
Sorry, you might be right I just always thought it more midrange, I was thinking of pure control is normally Dimir and Azorius. Guess it just depends on what the meta is doing too though.
@CovertGoBlue I'm glad I recently found this channel, thanks for the content !
I THINK tear asunder is lighting up because it could, in theory, be kicked to destroy a target nonland permanent AND you have enough mana (2) to cast it. The fact that the kicker is the only valid play doesn't prevent the card from lighting up .
that second game was just relatable
Thanks! Made mythic for the first time with this, dropping the tear ass for an Outland Liberator.
You looked like you had more fun with the crazy white deck.
"Tear Asunder" has a "Kick" ability that allows you to remove any permanent on the battlefield
He knows that. He was at 1 life and had no way to deal with the Phoenix Chick or gain more life.
That matchup with Azorius control reinforced my hatred for that deck
This got me to rank #21 in mythic. Thank you.
34:15 nice Tenacious D reference
Nice Witherbloom deck!
…
(We’re still using Strixhaven names, right?)
Did we ever do that to begin with?
Idts lol
thank you for leaving your loss to mono red in ;)
Nothing beats Mono Red in the longrun -- NOTHING!!!
Every time mono red loses it makes me giggle
Just tried the deck, first opponent mono red, I was down to 2 before I came back to win good deck to
ive never been a fan of tear asunder, I want to like it but I never feel good burning 4 mana for the spell.
Shoutout to our good boy: Tranquil Frillback
give it a try
The one in best of one be slippin lately
Feels almost like this was recorded at the end of a long recording session.
Shows that with a good deck you can still win even if you misplay a ton
Deck strength and draw luck are more important than skill. Has always been like that.
tear assunder can be kicked to exile any nonland permanent
9:40 he could have lived with 2 hp if he had played the Sheoldred befor the draw
Exploring doesn't draw a card; it puts the card in your hand.
right .didnt see that part reading the card explains the card@@TheJusticeCluster
Old video? Thought you made mythic already
That was nov. before his vacation
CGB, I hope you make the switch to Bo3 someday. Your mental health will improve greatly!
Imagine if u hadnt misplayed at 10:20 playing sheoldred first so if you drew a land you healed for 2
Except it wasn't a misplay because exploring puts the land into your hand.
Exploring doesn’t draw the land. It puts it into your hand
@aro3061 huh odd since it triggers other on draw effects. Had it happen just last night in my golgari fight deck
@@TheBlackKnightmarewhat other "on draw effects"?
Path of peril

Hi CoverGoBlue. Tear Asunder Exile a nonland permanent if you pay its kicker cost. So you could have exiled that 3/3 red flying creature in your last red matchup
He knows that. He was at 1 life and had no way to deal with the Phoenix Chick or gain more life.
Ah yes, the familiar feeling when cgb exposes your deck to the masses. This isnt my exact deck but it runs similar. GL gamers this pile really works.
Bullshit, there are thousands of people playing these cards, you're not the first one lol
Deck is a common Golgari deck except Sentinel of Lost Lore.
Lol, sorry to upset you guys.
40:00 could have exiled their graveyard with Sentinel and left up Tear Asunder for the hydra.
How does this save him? Chick still kills. Tear asunder takes 4 mana to deal with devastator
this line doesn't save him
What are you talking about, exiling the graveyard does not help at all there.

LegendVD is being booted from the official MTG channel...since you have the highest view count, i hope you're staying!
What? Why?
Yeah,what happened?
@@AtomicCenturion "budget cuts"
@alexandersims1613 Why the "quotes"? If he costs more than he earns, then it makes sense to kick him.
@@Lordidude bc there's 3 sides to every story and you clearly don't know how contracts work.
If it was only about money in vs money out, if wizards had half a brain they'd say that they'll pay him X dollars for Y watch time. Then it's literally impossible to "bring in less than he makes" as you so ignorantly put it.
Assuming someone less brain dead than you is running wizards, it's either DEI or Wizards (in their normal, infinite stupidity), is slashing the entire division. This will mean CGB, and the rest of the names, will be cut completely. This may mean all new faces, this may mean a new direction (centrally controlled content), this may mean a scrapping of everything done previously and a rebuild of everything from the ground up.
TLDR: It's in quotes bc there's more questions than answers until 2024 starts.
still hating mono red
All my homies hate mono red 😤
This deck is all I see on the ladder. it's worse to fight against than Mono Red!!!!
You would have won even after the Nissa misplay if you used map token after playing sheoldred. would have dropped you to 1 and up with sentinel and life gain source
yeah that was annoying to see that he didnt play Sheo first....so i guess it was 4 missplays?
explore isn't worded as card draw, so it doesn't trigger sheoldred (it's "put that card in your hand" instead)
OMG, you are so glaring with that monored hate, maybe look at the most broken colour: WHITE followed by BLACK, even rotation can't save the format in this state of cheap value cards + infinite choice of multicolour lands
Why is every other deck focused on stopping mono red we need it to stop the boring non game control decks
If you want to stop Control effectively you have to play mono red or white/boros aggro and alike. Golgari isn't quick enough.
@@KroyX true
Crazy how when your whole deck is built to beat mono red, you still lose to mono red.
Obliterator or go home
I like this deck, but I wish you played some mono red so we could see why you dislike it so vehemently in real time.
Because it is incredibly boring and linear. Empty your hand and go face, win quickly or lose. Yawn.
@@mostlyholy6301 thanks for your opinion! That could easily be what makes it exciting for someone else. 👍
@@Scoob3rs some like instant coffee, some like fresh. Some drink fast, others drink slow. The common theme is the enjoyment of something. 🤷♂️
@@Scoob3rs If all you want is to win and churn thru games quickly without any thought then sure, lots of fun.
@@lenlee14 People play magic for many reasons, and for some it is all about the winning. For those people, God invented mono red.
You make a lot more mistakes than you used to.
Because he is freaked out to not lose this year. :D
I am sick of this red slander blue boy
But CGB, if you lose to a deck, doesn't that mean that deck is better than yours?
Half the games are yours to lose and half the games are your opponents to lose... some of those times its autopilot decks like monored and you have zero chance.
This deck sucks
