- I have a little Flick putt battle with a batch of regular putters (instead of deep rim) in order to find out which one is the best (for me). I also address the idea whether flick putting may work for you. Do you have good hand eye coordination?
Lots of putts and an attempt to stay focused. Thanks for watching! - Sport
Funny ending! I actually switched to Pixels two months ago and saw an immediate improvement in my putting. I use an Electron Soft for putting and an Electron Firm for throwing. So, everything less than 140' is a Pixel for me.
Totally scientific... I think I solved the putter question for all time! Glad you like the Pixel.
@@ogdiscgolfer Ha! For sure.
Pete, I am a 70-year-old who just started 18 months ago, so take anything I say with a chunk of salt.
Last year, I overthrew and tore my bicep and triceps. I was forced to rest them for a few weeks. During that rest, I found that a heating pad wrapped around my arm helped with overall pain. When I was ready to start throwing again, I employed a compression sleeve and one of those adjustable braces like you're wearing for your elbow injury. But I also had the idea of employing heat while I was throwing. Around that time, I had purchased a box of pocket warmers and decided to try wedging one of those into the brace. What that has done is to keep my muscles warm and loose by bringing blood to the area. It has been FANTASTIC ! I won't throw without employing one of these.
Not knowing exactly what your injury is, I don't know if this method might help, but I thought I'd mention it.
Enjoy your content a great deal . . . and I really enjoy flick putting even as I attempt to become more proficient at it.
So excited to hear that you have fallen in love with disc golf. 2 years ago I tore my bicep, Labrum and rotator cuff. Had to play left handed for quite a while. Then a few months ago I developed tennis elbow from Chainsawing and Sawzalling trees on two of the courses around here, and that is what I am having to be careful when I throw... it is better, but not 100 per cent yet. I like the idea of the hot hands. I also need to keep working on strengthening my core and doing my exercises and trying to not just get out of the car and throw cold. But, I am pretty stubborn and easily distracted, so I will probably mess up again. :D So glad to have you watching! I was able to encourage and play with buddy Pete May who is now in his 80s, back when he first started playing thirty years ago when he was a young man in his 50s :D. I think he has won the Pro Worlds in the 80s a couple of times... do never too late! Take care!
@@ogdiscgolfer Thanks for the encouraging words. Disc golf is a great late-in-life hobby to acquire! I just have to realize that I won't likely achieve 400 ft. throws and am looking for satisfaction with a competent short game. Wish I could join you for a round or two down your way, but I'm way up in the northwestern corner of Washington state. Love it here, but you folks in the eastern half of the U.S. seem to have so many more courses to enjoy. Take care of yourself!
The older we get, the more emphasis we have to place on control and cunning! We can't match the youngster with distance, but we can be deadly with our short game. I remember my grandfather just clobbering my father and his brothers in golf... they would launch the ball so far, but tended to get into the woods... Grandpa would just hit 150 yards right down the middle... never get in trouble and win everytime. We are blessed with a lot of courses these days. I found disc golf back in '94 and there was one course in Augusta, two in Atlanta, one in Birmingham, and an amazing three in Huntsville. We would have to find courses through word of mouth or a magazine. So I understand the desire to have more courses, and I don't take it for granted that there are 8+ courses within 40 minutes of my house. Keep throwing my friend!
That’s some impressive putting! Pixel for the win! (My putter😄)
thanks
When naming off the discs showing the numbers along with the name on screen would help alot. Very helpful videos!
Hey thanks, yes I normally try to do that when I don't get distracted or in this case have a time crunch, I was trying to get that video done right before heading to the airport to go overseas and just ran out of time. Thanks for watching and reminding me that those little details matter.
Can’t believe you didn’t like the ice inner core more. I also noticed you oh didn’t include the Banger GT. video and message was clear. Thanks for your efforts
I like it for a throwing putter, same with the Banger GT... didn't mesh with them for putting... but I am weird. Plus knowing they came from you tainted everything. :D
@@ogdiscgolfer your funny 😆 😂🤣😆
@@ogdiscgolfer however flick putting, I don’t like as much with the Banger Gt as I do with ice inner core
My favorite shots are forehand putters, I love westside maidens in origio plastic for putting, approach, and throwing. Also the innova colt in xt are great as well, I find they have a little less stability but have a great late flip with distance shots( flat top ones)
I will have to check out the colt as a driver... I think i have one in the batch, but I haven't tested it much. I tried the Maiden, but in the hard plastic and that was a negative to me... I was told by someone else to try a different plastic and I would like it better... will see what I can do. Sounds like we have similar tastes! Thanks
I would like to have the forehand put that you do, I mainly use mi e for approach/short drive (
Makes sense. I checked my stash and I don't have a colt, but I will keep and eye out for one. :D Thanks
I did a similar test yesterday and the day before but i gave those i missed points.
I had 12 putters. And stood from 7meters the first day and on the second day from 9 meters.
So the first ones i missed i put aside and gave them one point. Then i took those in the basket and threw them again. Those i missed then i gave 2 points. And so on until only one remained. I did this 10times both days.
It was a fun experiment! 2 of the top 4 i guessed was gonna be in the top 4 but 2 others surprised me!
I then combined the points from both days and the results were:
1. Berg k3 (kastaplast)
2. Reko k3 (Kastaplast)
3. Pure Zero Medium (L64)
4. Swan (westside disc)
Today or tomorrow i will take the top 4 and di it again from 7, 9 and 11 meters and se who is "my perfect putting putter". 😅
That sounds great, and you are way more disciplined that I am. Let me know which one wins
Do you have any videos on form? Specifically, I've been using a more sideways stance and I notice yours is more open. Is there a reason for your open stance (facing basket)? I def want your results. Lol
I have a couple of other videos where I break down the Flick putt more... if you search Flick putt on my channel you should be able to find the two main ones, and then I talk about it randomly in others. As far as being open with my stance... that is Ultimate Frisbee and Tennis influence... probably more Ultimate... standing there and having to throw around a defender or in disc golf a tree and wanting to be able to stretch out as far as possible laterally to avoid the block or the branch.
Thx!
So pretty much the most unscientific test possible
That's my specialty! :D
@@ogdiscgolfer you were correct. This should have been called Pete’s focus counter
You should see the inside of my head... not a pretty sight!
