History has been made here folks, our first (and hopefully only) D tier!
This is going in the history books, where were you when Zer0 made a D-tier
As one of the key components in ADWY’s creation, I’ve said my piece about it already on this channel (hell, I kinda feel like B+ may be a bit generous lol, appreciate a lot of you liking it anyway), so instead, I’m gonna give my opinions about the other mods here.
Dreams of Literature: Noir - Man, VA shitposts are funny, but when their members get serious, their creativity is something to truly respect, and this mod is an example of that. Truly great, go play it.
Just Natsuki - After story mods ain’t my cup of tea these days, but I remember watching your videos about it about...three to four years ago, Jesus. It’s a decent glow up for those who were interested in it.
Our Two Realities - Sometimes, I regret spreading the Yuri grilling propaganda so much during the streams of this (it even spread to ADWY, god damn it lol). Anyway, for people wanting to spend time with Monika, it does its job. Also ain’t exactly my cup of tea, but the mod did advertise itself as something without much of a traditional plot (for now possibly) so I can’t fault it for specifying who it’s for before playing it.
The Walking Doki Literature Club - From a player’s standpoint, it’s frustrating because the characters I want to focus on get shoved to the side for OCs I do not care about (especially Yuri, oh my god, all of her high points consist of winning UNO and getting saved by Thomas. She was USED FOR PROMOTIONAL ART OF THIS MOD, AND ALL OF HER HIGH POINTS SO FAR AMOUNT TO WINDOW DRESSING). From a mod author’s standpoint, it’s creatively frustrating because I can genuinely see so much potential here that is bogged down by the writing, and that’s not even mentioning the misogynistic undertones (...or are they overtones? I can’t even tell). I feel so bad for all the people that were roped into this that weren’t the creators/project leads. If nothing else, this mod gives me the motivation to keep going with my own projects knowing they can’t get as bad as this.

About The Walking Doki Literature Club, the writers with *that* mentality when writing the story would likely be the kind of people who think males can handle the issues of the girls better than the girls themsleves.
And, if you think about it, the mod might also have shown how thoughtless the writers thought of the girls' issues, let alone the characters themselves, such as Sayori's, since, you know, they just wrote her as the flaunderized "I care about food more than my friends" girl. Also, while she does tend to act goofily when responding to situations that may need her being more serious, she's strategically cunning, not unintentionally oblivious! In the base game, at Natsuki and Yuri's argument, I headcannon that part of the reason, if not the main reason, she ended the confrontation on an awkward note was because she knew they'd be too awkward to continue arguing and thought she did the right thing, even though she was oblivious to the fact that she might have just prevented Natsuki and Yuri from properly apologizing to each other and maybe even getting closer as friends later on, you know?

So the Walking Doki Literature Club...the dev says that Men need to do the work...Guys...The game is based off the Telltale Walking Dead Series....Did they really forget about CLEMENTINE??????? She's a girl and she does a ton of badass shit all on her own. Like what the heck is wrong with you? Your inspiration for the mod literally debunks your sexist claim.

@@Slenderslayer351 To me, it looks like the Mod Devs never played any of the walking dead games that exist or read the comics and just watched season one of AMCs The Walking Dead (the season where all the women still did “typical women things” like washing laundry and watching the kids and wrote around that one season.

Hey there, one of the _former_ writers of TWDLC. As much as I would like to say that I was not involved with TWDLC for most of its development, the main dev still felt like crediting me because I supported him through his hardest times. That's why the mod is released, you had to suffer through "the biggest fucking mistake that has existed" as one person put it and I'm writing this comment.
Let me respond to the misogyny/sexist allegations: I completely understand them. In my opinion, the main dev had this weird fetish for being vastly superior compared to the Dokis. Yes, the main dev himself, not his OCs. Let me get you on a little secret that you won't be probably surprised by: the OCs (Thomas & Michael) are self inserts of the main dev and his friend. And as for a writer that slowly realised that the mod was turning out to be some misogynistic shit, I tried to stop it along with the third writer, but the main dev still fucking insisted on making the Dokis as incompetent as possible.
And about the writing, the main dev DOES NOT understand anything about writing. Doesn't understand character flaws, character arcs, how to write plot twists. NOTHING. We tried to explain to him those concepts countless of times, but he couldn't comprehend anything, like he forgot to fucking read. Regardless of what I think about Vigilante (and I have a history of criticizing it, if you remember ModSins), your mod is FAR BETTER than that disgusting piece of shit that the main dev wanted written.
I regret that the mod was released in the state that it was (to be fair, I was no longer in the dev team to influence that), because it actively hurts the reputation of all other team members, including me and the other writer, because both of us are closely associated with the Various Artists.
Even the coder (who did an amazing job for what he was given), who is not the nicest person, I'll admit, doesn't deserve being associated with this shit.
No one deserves to be associated with this shit. No one.

Have they ever watched The Walking Dead or any of the spin offs or even played the games about it? Cause there’s a massive list of women I can name that don’t or probably never needed a man to protect them.

@@Frithian I've been writing a mod of my own since October 2020 and I just want to say I'm grateful that you tried to make the Dev understand the faults and flaws in the mod's writing even though he cast all that aside and kept his little fantasy in the mod. Also the concept of the mod being a parody of the Telltale games wouldn't work unless there's tons of dialogue and different scenarios for *each and every choice* because then it would be at least on par of the games due to their choices and those choices in the mod would have to be meaningful too. If he didn't want to do that then he should've went for the show since it would've been easier at least.
Of course, he didn't and now this mod will end up being cast aside and most likely dissected as well as have no updates because of the approach that was taken. So much potential was in this mod. Also my other problem is how the girls were flanderised to all hell, like they don't act like their normal selves. Obviously you know how they were in the mod because you were one of the writers after all so you can understand what I'm talking about.
Hopefully the next mod you work on won't be as disappointing and the Dev will actually take a f*cking hint and don't add in anything controversial on purpose because of his views.
@@Slenderslayer351 I actually left the DDLC community nearly a year ago to focus on CZcams, so I won't be probably writing mods in the future. But I might dip my toes into either a parody of TWDLC or a completely original VN, we'll see.
@@Frithian If anything good comes from the bad DDLC mods is their ability to teach people about mistakes, what not do to and how they failed
From what I've seen the Just Natsuki mod has a lot more unlockables and genuinely feels like a nice relationship mod

This is actually the first time I’m looking into this kind of video and I’m surprised by the positions some mods are in.
I know it’s a personal based tier list, it’s just an opinion but I’m still surprised none the less.
I still love fruits i know the flawes of it but i still love the hell out of it
TWDLC had alot of potential, I never really cared that mike and Thomas was there it was still pretty good, but the thing that really does need changing is the Dokis got no screen time. I say the mod doesn't get discontinue but reworked so that Mike and Thomas aren't doing everything for the Dokis and they actually do something instead of standing around, like yuri could had been holding a knife but struggling to stab the student then mc comes and distracts it and maybe then she still struggles to do it for mike and thomas to help them. The mod just needs a better mind set with reworks everywhere. Thats all I gotta say for TWDLC wasn't too bad but no too good (also nat should be such a bitch)
I would suggest you either move some A-tier mods up to S-tier or make a A+ tier down the line; it could be either white (Monika’s top) or tan (the color of the girls jackets.)
The Walking Doki was just a terrible disaster overall. I was genuinely interested to see how the girls would survive in a zombie apocalypse and what roles they would play to ensure their safety and survival. But instead we got Hungry Sayori, Angry Natsuki, Shy Yuri and Girl Monika. Not to mention the fact that the whole “Women need a man” thing is stupid in itself. The fact that this mod was even thought of, written, coded, and put into the public which anyone can download and play is unbelievable. I know this mod was worked on very hard, but I’m gonna make fun of it forever imo biggest fucking mistake that has existed
Even Spongebob has a fan game and episodes based on Zombie invansion and was able due it better then DDLC mod not saying their no hope for the mod to get better but make the mod suit the characters written in the mod not the other way around also make the character have common sense as to what their so their not going around acting like wild animals over some food or whatever come next also Thank you Zero and Monika for playing the mods I enjoy lots of your content I just hope for best and go where ever the wind take and live like to fullest after all a world that never ends is kinda a boring don't you think so we have make that time up with time we that what I think is true.
The introduction of D-tier is really nice. For me, the tier represents mods that are too frustating to play, thus being unable to finish them.

If there's one thing that can be taken from these mods is their mistakes and why they failed. Amor Fati and Walking Doki are kind of the same and that is because they had potential to be great mods and they failed miserably. Though the Dev for Amor Fati didn't want anything to do with the mod and took it down and Amor Fati did have a couple of good points in it. Walking Doki has none of them obviously

Hearing what apparently has being said BTS of TWDTC makes me so disappointed and sad. I actually think the mod's concept had potential. I kinda like to see how the girls would deal with many different disasters like zombie apocalypse. Instead we got Thomas and Michael feat flanderized girls with added sexism the mod.

I didn't even know TWDLC had those issues, but that all glossed over my head being tired and playing it at 3am. It's a damn shame because I think the overall setting has a lot of great potential, but ruined by a shitty person/people with a shitty mindset.

But also when no weapons are involved that mindset is not dumb, at all.
The problem is that the writer can just give everyone weapons to make the characters have agency in the story, which this writer didn't do for some reason.
I want to be precise in dissecting the garbage so people stop writing it.
