I didn’t know david foster wallace was in this band. Cool!
Fantastic, my favorite episodes are ones when there is a band I dig and they turn me onto musicians/records that are new to me and awesome. Only album and band I am familiar with is Sun City Girls.
Friendly reminder that Attack on Memory is an indie emo masterpiece
New record is pretty great too
It's emo? It's definitely a masterpiece but not an emo one. I've never thought of CN as an emo band.
@@marcusnoll6208 yes it is.
Nothing emo about Cloud Nothings. That record is definitely a masterpiece though. And it's got the Steve Albini seal of approval to prove it. It's more grunge than emo. Fuck emo.
@@solomonlee5298 thank you.
Absolutely flattered with the Cartola recommendation there, as a Brazilian. Love Cloud Nothings!
First time seeing a Sun City Girls record in a Amoeba video. :))
Damn it. These guys are headed for true obscurity. I did not know anyone besides أم كلثوم
So happy to watch this AWESOME band here! Nice music sharings🤘🐶🎸
Gotta love Cloud Nothings
Gathering Swans is literally on the same level as The Queen is Dead.
their taste is SO different from what i expected .. nice
Love this band! So cool seeing them on here!
oh awesome i am a big fan of cloud nothings
Nice stuff!
Cool recommendations
that fireplace is a FLEX
This is my favorite type of what’s in my bag video. Aside from Torch of the mystics these are all albums I’ve never heard of and am eager to check out.
Both Choir Boy albums are fucking incredible and deserve a listen.
Dude just pulled a Cartola record like it's nothing. Got me by surprise
Hang in there guys. I hope you get to hit the road soon.
Sun City Girls!!! Nice!!
listen to cartola. he is a legend here in brazil
Om kalthoum??? That was really really unexpected! She's an oriental legend
Oriental ???? She's from Egypt!!!
@@Ramblebar oriental as in the music genre not her origins
@@Ramblebar And Egypt is in the Occident?
This is what it's all about
Woah, im back in 2010
shoutout possible humans
Choir Boy for the complete and utter win
ana roxanne!!!!!!
cartola
CARTOLA!!!!!!!
Cartola 💯
I worked in a record store in Cleveland for a long time. It was great, but the whole “show off my super weird taste in music” vibe is the kind of elitist music-nerd pissing contest I really don’t miss.
Yep and it got more pathetic by the end of the aughts when most musicians that ever released anything up to that point had their music online somewhere making it less eclectic
Great fucking choices!!
Oh what, Dylan has a free jazz band? Anyone know what they're called?
Baldi-Gerycz Duo
wheres the drummer?
Is that an original Tara Booth there, Dylan?
Cartola the best
I thought he was David Foster Wallace huh
Y’all need to get nick rattigan on here!
"I'm Not a Part of Me" is one of the greatest music videos/songs ever made.
I like this band. However list not arcane enough even by Amoeba standards :)
...and when the episode is over they put on Billy Joel.
You May Be Right
The guitarist looks an awful lot like Christopher Nolan
Allah الله
Who?
Cloud Nothings are a great rock'n'roll band. Their music is so much better than anything they hawk in this video. I wonder if they're taking the mick out of us.
🇬🇧
Knows Om Kolthoum and Cartola but thinks the Lambada is a Bolivian song 😂
Los Kjarkas are Bolivian, and made the original version of "the lambada song".
@@bforty79 well that's embarrassing! hehehe Thanks for the clarification, I jumped the gun without doing my due diligence!
The lead singer says "uh" and "um" a lot. Kinda distracting.
You tried to get too hipster with the Egyptian album
By listening to music from other places?
Lmao
What are these choices they made, so obscure and strange. Never heard of any of them. Feels like most of their selections are weird for the sake of being weird. Like one record where the whole point of it is a woman playing a weird midi instrument and does it well... ok? Then another record that has just 2 songs. But both are 20 minutes long... if that’s your taste in music then great. It doesn’t sound good though lol.
Shhhhhh. You’re boring. The amount of music in existence is astounding, why should people stop at, or only listen to what “everybody” accepts as well known? Some of us are compelled to dig and discover. It’s real fucking old hearing slander from those that are not curious.
Pretentious much?
Hey im a hipster, im special, im superior. Im only listen to weird bands
Hey, I'm an idiot, I think extremely popular Egyptian singers are "weird"
Let's show some records no soul heard of...i only know SUN CITY GIRLS,barelly
@@anfrankogezamartincic1161 It's awful to have to hear about lesser-known musicians, isn't it?
@@w.g.hunter1300 in fact no,i love to discover new stuff (old stuff, just stuff...). But their choice left me uninterested
That discomfort you're feeling is called learning. Feels pretty good once you get used to it :)
There are two ways to talk about music. The sincere passionate way of people like Jason Mantzoukas and the hipster douche way so well represented by these guys. A shame. I actually quite like a few of their songs and was interested to watch, but they just come off as insufferable people I'd never like to be around
I don't know if I would go that far but, yeah, their choices are insufferably obscure.
