New Starter from 1AAuto.com 1aau.to/ia/1AEST00497
The starter is a powerful electric motor that gets your engine to turn over when you turn the key in the ignition switch. If a motor has worn out or become damaged, your vehicle won’t start. This video shows you how to install a new starter on your 2000-2006 Chevy Tahoe.

This dude knows what he is doing. You DO NOT have to take the tire and wheel well plastic off.
You do not HAVE TO. But for some people in some cases it helps. Like if you don’t have a lift in your shop or you’re doing it on the side of the road. Taking the tire and wheel well off makes it way easier
You made that look way too easy. 2 1/2 years ago i tried for hours to get that GD starter out. Ended up reconnecting it and towing it to a shop. Well now its starting to fail already. Your video helped me a lot. I was trying to pull it out towards the front and we know that theres just not enough room. The answer was right there in front of me. Great video
If you take the tire and inner wheel splash guard off it can make it easier to losen the bolt that secures the cable to the frame. This will allow the starter to drop down further

Thanks for the video bro. Even simple projects I try to find a video to learn what size sockets to use lol.
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
Great video! Thank you!!!
I think it's a little more challenging than this video demonstration but it definately can be done. Just don't give up.

You make this look so easy. Did you lift the vehicle?
Want to do this bc my truck won’t turn on and it’s not the battery/alternator. It’s under warranty so I just need to replace… do I need to lift it up really high? I don’t have access to one of those lifters..
How would you take the wire connector off if you don’t have a right angle pik?
I have a huge question/. Does the starter shield give any clearness from the starter to the flywheel?. I’m having trouble at high rpm’s and my flywheel strutting hitting shims help some what but I think flywheel is actually too close to starter
What's the first connector called, I need to replace that pigtail
Does this work on a 2008 Silverado
Subscribed. 👌
How long does this job take?
How did u disconnect the connector
for some reason the other videos I have seen say the fender lining needs to be removed
my starter is engaging flexplate it just spins . What can it be?
2008 Tahoe hybrid would this be the same procedure?
+sixto rosado This procedure might be different for your application. We do not currently have a how-to video for this particular year, make and model. Thank you for asking! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
How do you have so much space..
I tried with my 2007 tahoe 4x4 and there is hardly any room to bring it down enough to take it off. I tried for an hr and ended up giving up. Will try again today
Did you manage to do it?
My bolts wouldn’t even move 😂😂had to take it a shop
Sure would be nice if the wires on mine weren't as short as they could possible be. Now it's practically impossible to get it back in. Leaving it for the night.
Edit: found the problem. The wire to the smaller post wasn't routed correctly when I reattached it. Got it seated in 5 minutes after I realized and corrected the problem. I did it the old fashioned way, strictly from underneath. BUT, now it turns over but magically won't fire. Have no idea what happened now. The truck has never done this before. It ran just fine as recently as last Wednesday. Is there a wire in the starter harness that could affect if the engine will fire and run?
Your video did help me out. First time changing a starter. But question is now every time I go to turn it on it makes a slight grinding noise. I put a camera down there to get a look and it looks like something is arcing. Either that or the bracket I put back I must have placed wrong.
+mauricio gomez Thanks for watching. We don't have a way of being able to diagnose this issue and a local mechanic many be able to better assist you. 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
@@TRQ ok thank you. Tbh I already know mechanic. Not off of CZcams of course but when ever I do not know something I’ll look it up or find a way to obtain information on how to perform the job. But I’ll be taking it apart aging on my dayoff hopefully it does not damage my flywheel. Your videos are helpful I appreciate that.
+mauricio gomez Thanks for the feedback! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
You may have purchased a different starter or may have left a gap in there, check to see if you have the correct starter first and then go from there. Did you ever figure out the grinding?
I've heard of your same issue with the grinding of the starter. Did you find out what it was
is this 2WD or 4 WD?
+Scott Murray same install for both models.
I cannot for the life of me get the last two mounting bolts back in
this video should be taken down or clarified as to what model this vehicle is. There is a reason it has a fair number of thumbs down. You might be able to change the starter without removing anything else on an older model 2wd or something like that but not on the newer model years with 4wd. Not even factory service data says you can. I tried for over an hour with no success. The real way to do it is to take off the wheel and the inner fender and remove the starter wires first from inside the wheel well. Then drop the starter. When reinstalling bolt in the starter then hook up the wires. Lastly put on the heat shield from inside the wheel well.
If you don't believe me look at the clever editing at 5:05
I wanna see that man put that starter in there!!!
I have an 05 4wd and swapped mine out exactly like this. No problems. No wheel well removal. Just common sense.
I just replaced the the starter in my friends 07 4wd. I did it exactly like he did on the video. Getting the wires off were a little challenging but I did the whole job in about 35 minutes.
Absolutely unhelpful in locating the starter.
