    Amen Mike! Someone in the industry must have posted single arm row work (the wrong way) about 1-2 months ago because everyone in the gym seems to be doing it incorrectly: loaded up, short range of motion, twisted the wrong way, etc.
    And YES people need to get off the phone video craze in the gym. Remember when you just went to the gym to workout? I miss the original days at my Y. No one would dare bring a phone in there because it would get thrown across the room. Plus, the dudes in there lifted properly and had great physique without drugs.

    I disagree with you on split squats Mike. That's a first because everything you say is spot on usually but if you get your form right, with correct foot position and appropriate weight then split squats are fucking awesome. Back foot on a bench is too high though, best dying a way of lowering the back foot but these pure shred my glutes and quads depending on how far forwards I lean. Systemic fatigue is the only downside of them, they're brutal!

    • @michaelmeyers4950
      @michaelmeyers4950 Před rokem +3

      Meh,... I respectfully disagree. If you feel like you can actually balance additional weight in your hands while actually burning your quads down to the motherfucking ground in a sensible ratio than you must have the strongest ankles ever made or weak ass fucking quads.

    I disagree regarding the split squat. I think it's one of the best leg exercises you can do. Requires good balance, core stability along with leg strength as you're pretty much squatting your body weight plus any additional dumbbell weight with just one leg. Too many people are too keen to sit into a machine these days where they are either sitting or lying down taking the easy route. You need exercises like split squats in your routine to test yourself, people don't do it as it's too hard for them. When done correctly and safely exercises like split squat can benefit you as you get older with balance and mobility etc.

      @craigvernon8711 Před rokem +3

      @@JohnnyG1 so you believe you can't build muscle using free weights that require you to actually use your stabilizer muscles? If that's the case you must not do DB incline? Barbell incline? You just do machines all the time?

    • @craigvernon8711
      @craigvernon8711 Před rokem +5

      @@MR12AMAZING don't get me wrong, hacks, leg press, leg ext, leg curls are great also and are always in my plan, but a drop set at the end of the workout doing a split squat is torture and done correctly has great benefits. Get stronger at split squat and it carries over to other lifts like hack squat, it makes you stronger. There's a reason why many people i see can leg press 300kg easy, but can barely split squat with 15kg DBs in each hand.

    The lat pull down thing would be pretty good since it follows the strength curve but only if there were more tension at the bottom, at least half a plates worth or something.

    I moved to a small town near Birmingham Al and im in this gym and im like my GOD read all you have to do is read a little. I had a medical problem and gained 200 pounds with a regular weight of 205 in 3 months with a 4 day on 3 day off I lost 50 pounds (+nutrition) and I have visible gains. I observe the gym and I just wanna hit my head with how many people old and new dont even understand to do a bicep curl properly, it's making me insane it's making me wanting to be come Wycked and start going hulk smash in the gym lucky I have self control. So in 3 month I see this guy almost everyday im in the gym in 3 months I have new veins popping out of my arms and this guy has the same ole arm skinny with nothing like a waste of 3 months of life if you are new just READ about what you are doing. For Gods sake is right Mike

    Any suggestions on what has worked for others with a quad size imbalance?
    I’ve actually made some progress with only doing split squats for the less developed side
    Every muscle on the left side of my body gets an amazing contraction and better development

    I can’t agree more, I’m 235 and flat shoes suck ass… give me a a good contoured sole and I’m good. Lifter shoes are ok, but not real comfortable either, but good on squat day. The dude from garage strength totally believe s in split squats , he even developed a split squat rack for his athletes.
