- This Yamaha has been an ongoing project... The engine had a smoking problem, and after rebuilding the top end it was found that the clutch was bad. So it got parked, again... This is the final push to get it going once again, or forever languish in Project Purgatory...
Thanks for the help on my old snowmobiles , you were spot on and i now have them running great . I just wish you were my neighbor so i could pick your brain daily

Pretty much the same engine is used in my XT200 which I upgraded to a 225. Nice work on the restoration!

My dad used to drag around the irrigation canons with one of those in the 80's. I remember it being a good bike. But Mostly the plywood on the racks and how sharp the pegs felt on my 8 year old feet.

Oh my gosh, I'd forgotten all about these, my buddy had a yellow one. I don't remember them being a tough as the Honda bid red's, and S model atc's..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸👋🤠 edit post watching: yup that color...lol you might get the color back with a heat gun, or a torch if you're ultra careful!!
I use harbor freight yellow heavy duty degreaser at 50/50 mix. Cheap and works amazing

@@toocheaptosmoke that pretty blue/silverish indicates a temperature of around 6-800ish deg Fahrenheit, or 1,500deg at it's peak, this is totally a S.W.A.G. but I'm probably close!..lol..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 👋🤠

@@toocheaptosmoke I run mine around 30-40c as well. Seems to do the trick like one would expect. 1 cup to 1 gallon of Distilled H2O dilution ratio is what I use.

My dad has one. Had a fucked transmission so sometimes you would shift and get 2 or 3 gears. Had a lot of power wheelied everywhere. Felt like your hand was gonna rip off trying to start it. Gradually lost compression and doesnt have enough to run anymore, would like to get it going again eventually.
Your hand definitely knows it when it pops back, haha

It's been over 3 years since the last Groil video you made. Any updates on how the toilet bowl wax is holding up?
Seemed to last about the same as the regular mix, just goes on heavier. High exposure areas like wheel wells that get blasted with grit, salt, and ice wears off after a couple season. Other places on body and frame are firm and still a bit tacky underneath
Whats a good price to get one non running?

whats your view on fuel stablizier ? view on stored ethanal fuel ? & view on new oil but sitting for yrs and yrs ?scam or not ?
Stabilizer is better than nothing in ethanol fuel, but no matter what you add the alcohol is there and gonna absorb water. I've seen oils go bad after ~20 years of sitting, anything less than a decade has been good in my experience.

I think all that smoke might be old oil burning up out of the pipe
It did seem to burn out, but after the engine sits for a while it still belches some smoke.
