    At 6:10 you said, "Never go back to a place you are happy", I felt that. I am curious to know more about what your dad said. It's something contrary to what you'd expect to hear but it makes a lot sense. I heard it as in, don't replay old videos that make you happy but make new ones.

    One of the big improvements for the game is the theme, BSG is a great theme but no one my age knows about it, so its much easier to dive into a cthulhu theme for them without needing much explanation

    • @gruntsudens
      @gruntsudens Před 2 lety

      I totally agree. Even when BSG was all the rage not everyone was watching it, so even then it was not that easy to explain and for newcomers to make sense. Steam ships and monsters is way easier.

      Is the BSG version exactly the same? I would rather have that theme. Cthulhu has never been interesting to me.

      @@youvelookedbetter it is very similar, you could pick the one with the better theme for your group

    Tips on how to make a shorter game? :) Wanted to try this and bought it at a sales, but i have a fairly casual group, i fear i could kill them of boredom if its 3+h . I guess a 2 hour game would be the sweetstop (i cant get feed the kraken in my country sadly)

    would it be possible to shorten the length of the game by decreasing the distance the boat needs to go while also decreasing the 4 dials the same amount proportionally?

      In BGG forums people have suggested a similar option. In theory it should work, but I am not sure about the balance of the cards.

      Nemesis is one of our favorite games of all time. So for us it's totally worth it... That said it's not for everyone. Check out our review, it could help you decide if it's worth it for you - czcams.com/video/29OZ2_bLZVA/video.html

    I'd honestly play mansions of madness over this, love the lovecraft ship idea, but even in M.O.M. there's a possibility of an unknown traitor. Not as replayable as this, but also a lot more expensive

    • @BoardGameHangover
      @BoardGameHangover  Před 2 lety +1

      Mansions are really good, but for me, for very different reasons why I play this. Both fantastic games.

    BSG was my favourite game, but the length and pandemic made me just play on TTS with my family, so I had all the OOP expansions, so I sold it for a hefty price. This game has a very generic theme imo, I am unbelievably burnt out on Cthulhu. I feel like I've bought the exact same Investigators and expansions for a solid 10 years.
    FFG alone I have bought Arkham Horror, AH 3rd Ed, Eldritch Horror w/all expansions, Mansions of Madness, MoM 2nd Ed and all expansions, Arkham LCG, Elder Sign, etc. I think BSG's theme was much better and making it maybe Star Wars with the Tantive IV could've been better, or anything else but Cthulhu is just a cheap theme at this point to me because it's free to use as it's public domain and they just keep reusing the exact same art from all their Arkham games.
    I also think the discussion to keep ppl involved has to be to try and always think about 1) which cards ppl are drawing so you have to pay attention, 2) what cards they might have put into a skill check and 3) if what they say they put in previously vs how many cards of that colour they'd have at this point matches up to what they keep saying they're doing. That can keep you much more engaged and if that's not your type of thing then I'd say definitely Nemesis is just a much nicer experience imo.
    Love the videos guys!

      All very good points. But since I am really nor here nor there with Cthulhu it does not bother me. And I also sold mine quite the while ago, but what this remake did the most, was make me return to a game (not theme mind you) I used to love a lot.

    Damn. This sucks cause I was just thinking of a game just like this where you are on a space ship trying to get somewhere but you are constantly attacked but aliens and you exhaust resources regularly trying to get there. Nothing new under the sun I guess

    Wish they learned from Nemesis and made a cooperative mode. Fantasy Flight has the tools to do it. Huge miss on their part.

      They might still come out with an expansion. FFG is quite known for those ;)
