  • Are you planning a Leh Ladakh road trip in 2024 and confused about what clothes to carry for Ladakh trip? or what clothes should you pack for Ladakh trip?
Well, it all comes down to which season are you traveling and how sensitive you are in cold conditions. If you are traveling in summer time which is the main season of Leh Ladakh trip then it is usually pleasant up there in Ladakh and that would mean different clothing.
However, winter is very cold up there and in case of a winter trip to Ladakh you must prepare well and pack your clothes for Leh Ladakh trip to protect you from cold. And finally, you have the confusing months of shoulder season when the plains are hot while the Himalayas are cold enough to be winter-like. Hence clothing for Ladakh trip becomes important.
In this video, I explain the topic of carrying the right balance of clothing on Ladakh trips for these different seasons of summer, winter, and shoulder months.
Keeping such factors in mind, I will recommend below a general list of clothes to carry on a Leh Ladakh trip 2024.

Those who are traveling from far western states like Gujarat rajasthan, where summer is on pick at around 45c, will be feeling chilled weather much more.
Therefore, they have to carry appropriate clothesline.

My name is Priya and I live in Goa.
I was asked to post my query here by your brother in law.
ForT of all I have started following your videos and insta and they have been very informative. So thank you.
My question is we are planning a holiday to HP by mid May for 10-11 days.
I am a bit confused whether we should do the Spiti valley or should we stick to seeing the Kangra valley area.
We have seen a bit of the Kinnaur valley ( sangla Shoja etc )
Whether Spiti would be a good choice in May ( we are 2 couples all post 50 age group ) is what has kind of difficult to decide.
Please give us some idea of the same if you could.
I am also new to commenting on you tube so hoping I can come around to check your suggestions.

Weather at passes and lakes is still cool to cold, so carry mix of woollens and light woollens. Lower hills, if traveling by road, will be hot. So, you need to pack layered clothing as passes may have snow and lakes are high altitude so remain cold especially in morning/evenings.

Also how to access the public transportation for Delhi to Leh and vice versa and it’s ease of access

It is monsoon time in general up there in North and at some parts of Manali - Leh Highway (like before Baralacha La) and Srinagar - Leh Highway (like before Kargil) you might need to face monsoon hassles but once you get closer to Ladakh, then Ladakh being rain shadow region is least affected by monsoon rains. Landslides or slush or road blocks are pretty common in the month of monsoons but these landslides are cleared in a day or two unless there is a very major one.
Again there are ALWAYS risks of traveling in mountains in the rainy season. No one can predict anything but it is a well known fact about the risks of traveling in mountains
Having said that, rains does reach Ladakh nowadays but in general, it is overcast days or in form of light drizzles. I will suggest you go thru my video on 10 Tips for a Trip to Ladakh in Monsoons at the link:czcams.com/video/TQjBw5pCGx8/video.html

Well, it is difficult to answer without more context. However, I will say if you do not want to travel frequently in winter time then it is not worth investing money in specialized gear. Get something warm from Woodland or something that you can wear in your daily life on cold days. You will anyways need layering so you can overcome the shortcomings. If you plan to travel frequently to such places in cold conditions then only you should think of specialized jacket/gear.

Plz help me in letting me know the bike policy? I mean if we r taking rental bike from Manali do we have to change bike in leh also ? Can't we carry on with the same bike we took from Manali according to new policy ? And if yes wbut if we will carry from Delhi or Chandigarh then do we need to change bike at leh then also ?

    • @discoverwithdheeraj
      @discoverwithdheeraj  Před rokem

Yes, you cannot use outside Leh rental bike for sightseeing in Ladakh. You have to rent local Leh bike for sightseeing in Ladakh no matter where you rent the bike from. The problem with Manali rented bikes was till last year that they were not even allowed to reach Leh. You have to drop them at Sarchu and arrange a leh bike from Sarchu. Now this year both unions have agreed to allow at least on highways.

I also consider April to be a winter month in Ladakh even though the snow clearance operations are in full swing on Manali Leh Highway and Srinagar Leh Highway. Hence, you must carry heavy woolen for a Ladakh trip in April. Among the list mentioned in this article, the must-have clothing items to bring to Ladakh in April are listed as
      - heavy woolen jacket or parka (windproof),
      - woolen cap,
      - inner thermals,
      - fleece jacket,
      - heavy woolen clothing,
      - woolen socks,
      - warm insulated shoes or trekking boots and,
      - sunglasses
