One day, he said "Dad, would you like to watch this cool anime with us?" It was One Piece, and at that time it was at episode 300++... That started it all. I have been watching animes chosen by my boys (usually by the eldest) ever since, and there has been many, many poignant moments, like this one, as well as Your Lie in April, and Kimi no Na wa.. I am 38 years old, I managed to participate in two wars. Watching this anime, I realized how brilliant it is. As in the wrapper of a fantastic work, the author accurately conveyed the problems of our time, racial discrimination, the pursuit of political ideals through the sacrifices of innocent people.Also in this title there is another genius, it is no doubt the composer who wrote the music for this work. Without this musical accompaniment, many scenes turned out to be not so catchy for the soul. At the end of each season, it is the music that plays the main role, pushing the video series to the background, it is it that awakens emotions and involuntary tears in us. Thanks to the author and composer for this masterpiece. I wish you great creative success. Sincerely from Russia.

Its surprising that a soldier from Russia have seen this anime! The main girl in 86 even has a somewhat russian name, Vladilena Milize! Its great to see this anime is appreciated everywhere in the world, especially with the war going on.

1から見ないとまじ損ってほどまじ神アニメ
最終話でこんなに泣けるアニメはないな
マジで歴代って言われると一番かは断言しづらいけど少なくともここ数年では1番だと思う
曲名の最後のＳがどうして大文字なんだろうと気になり、色々調べて自分なりに解釈しました
ilaの意味はフランス語で｢彼を持っています｣
LilaSを直訳で｢L(レーナ)はS(シン)を持っています｣
最後のＳが大文字なのは人名(シン)だから。
紫色のLila(ライラック)の花言葉は｢初恋｣｢恋の芽生え｣ということから、
｢L(レーナ)はS(シン)に恋心を持っています｣
と考えました。
今までのEDの背景が青かったり赤だったりしたのは、2色を混ぜた紫色ライラックの花言葉への伏線だったりしたのかな？？
3:49に映ってる色の花言葉が
紫色→上記の通り
青色→｢思い出｣｢友情｣
白色→｢青春の喜び｣｢無邪気｣でした。
6人が出会ったこと＆死んでしまった戦友達に対して、エンドビジュにもあるWe won't forget→｢思い出｣｢友情｣
フレデリカ、エイティシックス含めた子供達全員の
｢青春の喜び｣｢無邪気さ｣が掛かっていると思います。

あくまでも色だけを当てはめて解釈してます。
こんなに素晴らしい曲を作ってくれてありがとう。『エイティシックス』というアニメは後でオタクが勝手に気づいて｢うぉぉ...!!｣って悶絶する最たるものだと思う。本当に丁寧に作られてた。何回見返しても新たな発見があって、1年通して土曜日が楽しみだった。
この作品に関わってくれた全てのスタッフに最大限の敬意を払いたいです。本当にありがとうございました。2期を期待して待ってます。

Seeing Lena overflow with tears seeing Shin and the others survive after everything is so heartwarming, I loved this season so much and it was definitely worth the wait

86はヤバかったなー。全体的な構成も素晴らしかったけど、最後の締め方がここ数年のアニメの中で群を抜いてた。原作ではまだ序盤の話だけど、アニメはここで完結しても違和感がない演出だった。
「新たな始まりを示唆する」
と言う終わり方がアニメは1番ちょうどいいのだと思う。
原作は1巻のあとがきに「本作一冊でも物語は完結しますが」って書いてあるんよね
1巻完結の物語としても読めるようになってるのマジで作者天才だし、上手く2巻以降の内容を通った後に一巻のラストに戻ってくるアニメの構成も良かった。確かその時最新刊だった10巻の内容も若干入ってた気がする。本当に良い作品。
マジで気づいたら涙が出てたマジで最後の2話のあの完成度とストーリーには感動しかなかった。他のアニメと比べるとマジで群を抜いてる
アニメーション制作会社がA-1picturesだったのも良かった。

As a LN reader, I didn't expect the adaptation would be so powerful and overwhelming...

I was wondering how the adaptation would be, and I think it can't be more perfect than it already is
Probably one of the rare anime adaptation of a LN that faithfully followed the source material. Some peple can nitpick on some stuffs that was skipped but nevertless this is a perfect adaptation. Like if you're an anime only viewer, you can actually start vol 4 of the LN and skip the first 3 volumes that the anime adapted. You won't miss match.
Whats coming up in the next series from the LN after the point the Anime ended?
After they reunited, in volume 4 the Federal of Republic of Giad created an independent mobile strike force named "Eighty Six Strike Package" under the command of Lena and Shin.

Even after 8 months and countless of times I watched this scene, it still brings tears to my eyes.
It is perfect. The transition in the music track as it becomes clear that Shin and his crew survived, while Milizé tears up immediatly. The ending scene in 86 was extremely well executed.
I'm not crying, your crying! I just have a condition where liquid leaks from my eyes during this scene.

個人的な意見ではあるけどこれは後世に語り継いでいくべき最高のアニメ。
延期って放送枠の兼ね合いで局側、編成部としては絶対にやりたくないはずなのに、その反対を押し切ってまで完璧にしようとした気概が伝わってきますよね！

2:08 Notice how her face is fully under the shadow and as she starts introducing her self, the shadow lifts up but her eyes are still covered, indicating that she confirmed to them who she is but she still doesn't know who they are (That's when Shin lifts up his face exposing it to the light(truth), same as the rest of crew). After she repeats his name the shadow completely lifts up off her face setting her free of the mission to catch up to them.
音楽はもちろん、今作が初監督とは思えない石井監督の力量にも脱帽。

As a LN reader, this adaptation was phenomenal!! A-1 went far beyond in this anime. I was emotional throughout the series as the anime gave justice to the source material. Cinematography+OSTs=GOAT. Kudos to everyone who made this spectacular adaptation. The wait was worth it. 86 is worth it.

@@tarkeax the LN has around 11 volume. So far they only cover 3 in the anime so they can definitely do more adaptations.

They hide lots of details from LN everywhere, even on Lena and Shin battling screen.
86 is definitely one of the greatest anime that existed and sawano really made it more colorful with his music ♡ idk if this series would have s3 but, 86 is truly a masterpiece

anime is kinda a LN/Manga promotion so in the case the LN has to sell well

遅ればせながらアニメ一気見したけど、前半の濃すぎる怒涛の展開から最高の最終回まで、間違いなくここ数年で1番だった。

3週目見終わったけど、本当に構成が素晴らしすぎる。何回見ても２２，２３は大号泣だった。多分ずっと忘れない
ここまで綺麗な終わりだと感じたアニメは久々だわ。

最後の最後にファイド目線なのが最高にいい
最初の4人は画面切り替わる時一瞬だけ暗い場面が映るけど、シンは小さい頃から今までずっと走り続けてきた様に見えて、まるでそれまでの5人の関係性(死神として冷徹な様子で戦場に立つシンと、その陰で色んな感情を持ちつつもシンを支える仲間)みたいだなと感じました。仲間が死ぬときは一切泣く素振りなんて見せないのに、生きてて良かったなんて涙を流すシーンはホントにずるいよ。
このアニメで何回泣いたか・・・

Still rewatching the last 4 minutes of episode 23 to this day, cried every single time.
それぞれのキャラの声が何故か聞こえてくる、、
Everything about this is perfect. Fido remembering all the sad times for each of them while seeing them finally get a chance to be happy and carefree, Theo's doujin art, Kurena decking him with the sketchbook (1:05), Anju thinking about Daiya because of Teppy, the tears, the smiles, the stifled laughter, Shin protecting Lena at 3:28, everyone else joyfully watching the reunion, the picture, everything.
I can hear every word of dialogue even though this is just the music, I've already watched the episode so many times it's embedded in my brain lol I can't thank the whole team involved enough for such a beautiful adaptation.
take us longer to get to the end then we thought but wow those last two episodes where well worth the wait. i've seen both episodes 3 times already. it was the perfect ending. know where to hoping for the story to go on.
Also, I think this is the first time that Fido ever caught a memory with Lena. That's why I could feel that it is also excited/happy to see her as well. So the feelings are much more deeper.
I CRIED THE REUNION WAS WORTH IT with sayano ost a banger as always and other songs inserted in this episode. FiDo scene showed how our character developed NOTE: while shin and lena about to hold hands it symbolizes 86

この最終回の時系列のギミック、人を泣かせるためだけの仕掛けにしか思えなくて泣く。
誰か言ってたら申し訳ないんだけど、歌詞に耳、胸、足、息とか、体の一部が入ってて、生きて、再開できたんだなって、お互いに強く印象づけられているんだなって思った。
｢今 会えた空で君が笑っていた｣の所の映像が神すぎて好き。
There were no dubbing in this video but I can feel exactly what they are talking about. That's how good and remarkable it is especially when everything combined together with the OSTs, storytelling, and the feels. A-1 Pictures really produced their masterpiece with 86.
