Its incredible how many photographers skip the fact that Robert Frank is an immigrant photographer and his book "The Americans" is a look through his lens as he learns about America. I don't understand those instructors that can skip such a fact , that one of the most beautiful and prized photography books about America is an homage done by an artist that was adopting this country as its own.
My teacher always neglected this fact bc he was too busy complaining about America and globalism. When some of us told him we didn't see this book as a comment rather than an hommage he kinda freaked out
Excellent point. It sometimes takes an outsiders Gaze to see things.
Great photographer and friends with Walker Evans .. another legend
Today I‘m doing a presentation about his work, for my high school degree🦋

I am a little surprised that somehow there is a Japanese comic book "ただいま授業中 (8巻 = Vol. 8)" by 岡崎つぐお (Tsuguo Okazaki) on the bookshelf behind him. Why is there a such kind of very unknown Japanese comic book in early 80s behind him? Is that his book or is it someone's room?
