      Zebozap is not bad. I got one and happy with the result.
      Not good when it is windy. I use a bungee cord to keep it from flapping in the wind.

    Might as well done a before and after picture...too fast. It would be more appreciative if you would have slowed it down a little bit to show more detail.

      Agreed. This is really no help. Even at a quarter of the speed, it is really fairly useless.

    I'm looking to do the same , did you notify the neighbour ? because is it right , that you should be 1 meter, from the fence

    • @hampshiregardenstructures5350
      @hampshiregardenstructures5350  Před 3 měsíci

      It’s always a good idea to let your neighbour know what you’re planning, it’s never a surprise that way!
      Current regulations on this type of structure are that if you’re building within 2m of the boundary then the height cannot exceed 2.5m - this build is within this requirement.

  • @IgorD33
    @IgorD33 Před 2 lety +1

    Do you have cut dimensions for this build

  • @TWOWHEELFIX
    @TWOWHEELFIX Před 4 lety +3

    Nicely done! I'm preparing to build my own. Did you find it necessary to bolt/screw post support feet to slabs? I was intending too but I was unsure what to use without potentially cracking slabs. Do you think just basic raw plugs would do? Maybe only one for each post? Cheers

    • @hampshiregardenstructures5350
      @hampshiregardenstructures5350  Před 4 lety +3

      Fixing the posts to the base helps to stop them twisting through the seasons, we use a metal foot onto patios and use a rawl type plug made by Fischer that takes an M6 self tapping bolt, this way you limit the likelihood of cracking the slab, but this is most likely to happen when drilling so can’t stress enough the need for a good drill and excellent drill bit suitable to the slab type!

    • @TWOWHEELFIX
      @TWOWHEELFIX Před 4 lety

      @@hampshiregardenstructures5350 I hadn't taken twisting into account, great point. I will buy a new masonry bit and also check out the rawl plug you suggested. Thankyou. 👍

    What kind of wood it is? Is it durable to rain snow,? How much each stud?

    • @hampshiregardenstructures5350
      @hampshiregardenstructures5350  Před 3 měsíci

      We use a pressure treated Larch, depending on the build size some is imported from Scandi regions (structural grades) but in the main it’s FSC British Grown

  • @xsk8surfsnowx
    @xsk8surfsnowx Před 3 lety

    Are the boards you are laying on top of the rafters angled like shingle, or are they pressure treated 1x10 or something similar? how do you achieve the pyramid look of the roof?

    • @citizenlyfeva
      @citizenlyfeva Před rokem

      The hip roof design of the roof will dictate the pyramid shape. And the overlapping of each following course will give the ridge you see where each course meets .

  • @skydive1981
    @skydive1981 Před 3 lety

    Why do you put the hips in first and not the commons?

    • @hampshiregardenstructures5350
      @hampshiregardenstructures5350  Před 2 lety

      It makes no difference which you do first, just that it’s easier to beak the commons second when the hips have to sit on the post tops

    did you need planning permission for this?

    • @hampshiregardenstructures5350
      @hampshiregardenstructures5350  Před 3 měsíci

      This particular build didn’t need consent, the requirement to need permission is specific to the location, often properties which are listed, or located in a conservation area or AoNB / National Park / SSSI would require permission or at least to confirm with your LPA that either you don’t require or that a Lawful Development Certificate can be issued 😎
