    thank you for the tutorial! it would have been nice seeing the application of this with a character with clothes,so we can see how the clothes adapt to the character when you change the pose without needing to rig again

    why am i just discovering this is possible lmao. thanks man. im trying to break free of daz since they dont seem to care about their software anymore. just keeping it around for all the content and for exporting

    Excellent tutorial!! This also works for Poser characters/poses. The vert count needs to be the same, so careful what you export from Poser... but yeah, worked a treat!

    The shape keys are similar to morph targets on DAZ Studio and Poser.
    Imagine each vertex in the Basis key has a line drawn to the "Same" vertex in the posed key.
    As you slide the slider, from 0 to 1, the effective vertex position slides along the line.
    This is why the hand get deformed along the way.

      @WPguru  Před 2 lety

      Ah yes, Marvelous Designer does it the same way - interpolation looks creepy, but the end result is a handsome looking morph target.

    Great tips, thank you once again for sharing your knowledge. Thank you.
    I upgraded to Daz 4.12 today and used their new FREE, Daz to Blender 'bridge' for the first time.
    After installing the 'bridge add on' in Blender, one single click imports the Daz character perfectly. Daz characters, fully clothed, rigged, all materials, UVs ...... straight into Blender.
    This is an absolute game changer for me. It will save sooooooooo much time and enable soooooooo many project opportunities in Unreal too. Very exciting times. Dg

      I’m happy to hear that. I’ve not had a chance to try the new Blender to DAZ bridge yet. I’ve had a look at this product a month or two ago when it was sold on Gumroad (I believe DAZ to Blender was its name then), and not a lot was working in the version I’ve tried. I’m glad to hear it’s working, and that it’s free now.

    Thank you! This method for changing pose works also between two characters that have different morph or it changes the shape morph too?

    • @WPguru
      @WPguru  Před 2 lety

      In Blender it will change the shape as well as the pose, it's a delta that affects the whole geometry.

    thanks!!! maybe someday you can make a video to send animations from daz to blender? :D just a desire

    • @WPguru
      @WPguru  Před 3 lety +1

      Maybe one day! Apparently the new DAZ to Blender bridge is able to transfer animations. Teleblender and the Diffeomorphic plugin can do this too, but I've never tried them with animations. If ever I do, I'll make a video about it (I have a feeling it'll be a messy process).

    Thanks for the video, very easy to follow.
    For me that i only want to give my character some clothes in order to 3d printing how can i go on? when i draw a dress what operation i have to do to parent the dress to the body?

    • @WPguru
      @WPguru  Před 2 lety

      You can do that from DAZ Studio: dress and pose your character, then select the main figure and choose Export - OBJ. All objects will be combined that way (pick the DAZ Studio preset from the list).

    • @massimobidinotto2265
      @massimobidinotto2265 Před 2 lety

      @@WPguru Thanks, but if i wanna make some dress that aren't on the Daz assett?? If i make a shirt on the A-posed character in Blender, how can i transfer to the posed one??
      Thanks again for your answers, Max

    • @WPguru
      @WPguru  Před 2 lety

      It depends on how you make the dress, or where you obtain it from. The easiest thing to do for a DAZ character would be to use a dress from the DAZ store. It’ll follow the character as you pose it. If you create the dress from scratch in Blender, rigging or cloth dynamics need to be setup for this to work. Although creating clothing in Blender is possible, I have no idea how to do that. I’d model it in Marvelous Designer on the A pose, then import a pose as morph target then let MD do the draping on the posed character. The result can be exported as OBJ and presumably printed.

    Is it possible to reuse the shape keys for any other character in blender? Thanx

    • @obsidian295
      @obsidian295 Před 3 lety +1

      no, the join as shapes function requires a model with the same amount of vertices to work, so it is only good for quickly changing pose.

  • @dooh
    @dooh Před 4 lety

    is it possible to get the model with textures / skincolor etc and clothes ?
    Cuz right know there are no textures with the obj file :(

    • @WPguru
      @WPguru  Před 4 lety +1

      The DAZ to Blender plugin will do that for you, it brings in objects with converted materials. The texture alone is usually not enough to make an object render handsomely in Blender.

    • @dooh
      @dooh Před 4 lety

      @@WPguru indeed it does, but it wont convert the pose like you did with the obj file, always gets the base gen8 pose, even i did another pose.

    • @WPguru
      @WPguru  Před 4 lety +1

      @@dooh Here's how I do it: bring in the A/T-posed character with the plugin, retaining all materials. Then export a posed version without textures as described here, then apply to the object that has textures in Blender.
