When i started focusing on relaxation i noticed that my strikes felt much faster and more fluid and i was able to do way more rounds in my training. But dont become so relaxed that you end up falling asleep on the gym floor😂

Thanks for this video, Grant! I remember in the very beginning my coach would always remind me in each class to relax. It does make a huge difference in striking speed.

Not everyone can adapt to the same queues due to differences in mindset and anatomy. Once you got technique down, you need to be mindful during training in terms of your thoughts on what you're doing at the present moment, along with how your body feels which is why slowing things down can be beneficial. Then as you get better as a fighter and are more conditioned, your body can feel a bit different. That's when youre able to slow things down or speed things up at times, test and re-test what your body is capable of and see how you can string together your techniques and develop new tactics and different strategies.

It took me years of boxing to actually learn everything that you are teaching here. I have also suffered from the jumping and punching in my sleep which is not a good by product for me. 🙏🏻

Appreciate your videos man. There are a lot of martial arts channels explaining techniques, but I think what you are explaining is way more important, you will pick up techniques on your own sooner or later. No matter how good your technique is, you will always be held back when being tense, strikes and movement won't be as fluid, and everything will feel much sluggish.
Even after about a year of boxing, I'm not as relaxed myself, especially when throwing longer combinations, headhunting or being headhunted during sparring.

Relaxation is key to speed and power. I’ve punched people relaxed in the torso and caused welting, it didn’t even feel like I hit them hard.

That is a holy shit amazing quality level thumbnail! I like this level of polish with the clips and transitions. And the info is great too. I've noticed I've finally started to be able to be more relaxed when sparring. The being fluid while shadowboxing is still something I have to be conscious of, but I just gotta keep putting the reps in. I'm glad you mentioned you still focus on it after years of practice.

I honestly have the best ideas for my martial arts youtube channel when i am feeling like wasting time and just chilling.... ideas just pop up and i can expand them rather when I' having a busy day full of task my mind is like fully used with other tasks and there is no capacity for creativity... hope that does make any sense

Great video Grant, tension was killing me in Wing Chun. Every strike should be a whip from toes up through core then through the arm. It does take a minute to learn. My old Sifu was skinny and not super fit but he could hit like a brick using the whip action.

Just decide you're gonna do it bro! People will want to learn from you because of your results. The vast majority of people with qualifications aren't even in good shape or successful so it doesn't mean shit! If you think about why you watch me, it's because of my results, not because of qualifications. Hope this helps bro
