Hi Eric as I have said in another comment , even if you are asked to sit with two elders so they can investigate a matter, then they go back to the body of elders to determine whether or not to form a JC. If your phone rings be sure to know who’s calling, the elders calling two, will leave a message wanting to set up a time to meet with you further, they will not tell you any details if you let the voice mail take the call, that’s the point do not talk with them so that they can set up a time to meet with you for the judicial hearing. If they try to come to see you, sorry to say be home but hiding, HBH. Why is this course necessary? The flock book states that if the two elders cannot set up a time with you to meet, even after they send you the certified letter which should never be opened and sent back, the elders are instructed to hold the matter in abeyance, make a record of the attempts to reach you then place it in the congregation file. They are not your friends at this point, don’t relinquish your power here and let them place you in an absolutely vulnerable setting,. Good advice Eric, but I would not talk with them at all, because then they would have that opportunity to just blurt out a time and place for the judicial meeting.

I quit going to meetings in 1997. Almost three years later the elders showed up to my house to invite me to the memorial. I politely let them in and said thanks but no thanks. Then they informed me there was a judicial meeting scheduled. I was seen by someone who informed them that I was hanging out with a disfellowshipped friend. So I brought my friend to the judicial meeting at the kingdom hall. They wouldn't let him in. They made sure I didn't have any recording devices. I read the scripture in proverbs that talked about a true brother sticking with you. They went ahead and df'd me. I appealed. They brought in elders from another congregation. The chairman was an old family friend. They upheld it, so I wrote the society just to see what would happen. They wrote back saying we find no reason to question the decisions made. A couple of months later my grandpa died. He had the usual terrible jw funeral, 90 seconds about his life and 45 minutes about JWism. The chairman of my appeal committee approached me with this big smile to shake my hand and introduce himself. I said, I know who you are, you can go.. well I'll not repeat the words out of respect for your channel. I could say a lot more about my experience, fortunately my jw parents never shunned me, in fact they called me the day my df'ing got announced and told me nothing would change. I never found out who actually told the elders about my df'd friend. I pretty much went through the whole thing for the same reasons you did. What a joke.

When I was getting babtised as a Jehovah's Witness, the condition of the dedication was to be close to God and Jesus. The organization was simply a vehicle for ensuring the ministry was carried out fully.
In fact, the "Organized" book was titled, "Organized to Accomplish Our Ministry."
Then JW Broadcasting happened. More and more, it was all about viewing the Organization, The Governing Body, and Jehovah all as some sort of Trinity. As if it is all one and the same.

TRIED & TESTED FADING STRATEGY: If ANYONE - an elder, a relative or a friend - wants to "help" you by "talking with you," say absolutely NOTHING about your reasons for being "weak" and missing meetings & field service. TRUST NO ONE! Simply say, "I/WE are having to deal with PRIVATE & PERSONAL issues which we are praying about, but thanks for your concern. If the time comes when I CAN discuss them, I WILL call you." Always in the organization for over 25 years. My wife and I had information that was very sensitive. My wife carried it to our coordinator. And investigation was opened up. This brother had just became a circuit overseer been in the truth his whole life but there was a side to him but that no one knew. He was a monster and still is. He molested two of my sisters on a so-called Bible study. This went on for a couple of years. After they grew up at about 40 years of age they both came forward and accused him. He never admitted to it they did take away his eldership for about 15 years. He was allowed to run his mouth and completely destroy our good name. He is back serving again as an elder. We had information that would have really made him look like a liar that he was. When we went to another coordinator to explain, it was all swept under the rug. There is so much hypocrisy in this organization, favoritism, good old boy politics, there's nothing about it that impresses me anymore I have so much more to say I could write a book.

I seen over the years how elders have slowly gotten away from following Biblical edicts. Some elders even control their congregations like they’re commandants. I’ve seen too how some elders like this implied authority and become little tin gods all puffed up with power. And most congregation members will dutifully back them up even if they secretly have doubts about this abuse of authority. They reason the GB must be OK with it because they wouldn’t condone wrong doing! That’s why it’s impossible to get any justice when you’ve been wrongly accused or slandered.

Eric, have you ever seen a successful appeal? I can't remember ever hearing of one. Interestingly, after my wife and I had faded away for some time, my wife had a mental health break-down and then wanted me to take her to meetings. Naturally, one of the overseers wanted to interrogate us ASAP. It was sort of like a visit with an anemic version of the Stasi. He wanted know what we had been doing for years, etc. but his most important question was whether or not we still fully believed that the Governing Body was Jehovah's earthly representative and that we had full faith and obedience to their authority. It was a bit bizarre. We went for about a year and I can say that being a 3rd generation "born in" I found the religion virtually unrecognizable. I had read Studies in the Scriptures and knew that originally Russell had proclaimed 1914 as the final end of Armageddon and that Rutherford later changed it to the Lord's return. Most JWs truly believe the GB had spiritual foreknowledge of 1914 and it constitutes the GB's sole provenance to the FDS claims. Abandoning 1914 is anathema as it would cause the entire house-of-cards to collapse. I was already disillusioned but the overlapping generations nonsense was the final and absolute straw.

@@kevinrobinsonii8577 I know of only one case where a decision was reversed without an appeal. It's was a case where a ministerial servant had seduced a married sister. They worked together and he was assigned to train her in sales. After one of their sales appointments he stopped at a liquor store and bought a bottle of wine for them to share. She did not know he was going to do it, or agree to it in advance. In fact, she told me she thought it was strange that he did that. Nothing bad transpired at that time between them but he kept working her for months. The guy was a master at wit and words and charm and eventually she succumbed to his advances. She was a naive sheep-like woman in an unhappy marriage, and he was a very streetwise guy living a double life.
She found out later he was seeing a worldly woman as well, and taking the woman on vacations with him. In other words, he was a player. The deck was stacked against the sister. The elders in charge of the committee meeting were from his congregation not hers. They knew the MS well and liked him but didn't know her at all. One of the elders on the committee was even his Best Friend. So the con artist ministerial servant showed up playing the victim. His defense was that he was single and she was just too beautiful and seductive to resist. He blamed her for everything without even mentioning the other worldly women he was involved with. He played the the judicial committee like a fiddle. She told me she was polite at her meeting and sorry but didn't shed tears and didn't try to blame him at all even though it was his fault. In fact, the ministerial servant didn't even want to tell the elders about it. He was angry when she suggested it.
The ministerial servant was good at shedding crocodile tears. She had seen his fakery and insincerity many times before. He' was the kind of guy who would sell his own grandmother to make a sale. He wasn't sorry over what he had done, only sorry he got caught. The judicial committee decided to publically reprove the MS, but decided to disfellowship the sister. When her father, who happened to be an elder found out, he contacted the judicial committee (He knew one of the elders and they were friends) and told them the real story, all the details both parties had omitted. Details she had omitted to protect the MS, and details he omitted to protect himself. Her father was able to reverse their decision to disfellowship her and she was reproved instead. She told me that the elder in the committee meeting who was friends with her father was kind and seemed fair. She said another one was super old and very agitated and judgemental, but the young elder who was friends with the ministerial servant, was downright hostile and condemning of her. She said he went on the attack and she was treated as if she was an evil Jezebel. She believes his mind was made up in advance.

I don't see any of them speaking impromptu, and they must know that the accused is under extreme stress when they have three sets of eyes staring at them. It would be easy for the person on trial to go completely blank, unable to defend themselves properly. This is so unfair! What are they afraid of? Afraid the accused will bring written information that will justify his or her actions if the reason for them being there is based on an issue with doctrine, etc.? Is the GB afraid that the elders in charge of the judicial committee will see the written evidence and reflect on it at a latter date, and possibly be influenced by it and wake up themselves? Whatever their reasons are the judicial meeting is unjust when the accused is unable to defend themselves with written evidence.

When i had my meeting with brothers (about the UN, the two before were shepherding me on the last two calls) and I did ask if this was a judicial meeting they said, "no". The three elders did not open with prayer and two did not have their bibles. One wanted to badger me and another was being reasonable, while the third was there just "observing". They asked if i was still firm on my stance "accusing the the GB" and i said, "yes" as my 9 months of research to prove it to be true. Like the other two times the badgering brother walk through the history and of how the GB would not do such and how that is very contradictive to the watchtower and other publications written, I agreed. I then referenced the Revelation book and then he went into a long conspiracy theory of how fake signatures, editing people on video and voice overs can be done, again i agreed on the point but he was insinuating that to be the case with UN and GB was not true. The brother who was being reasonable with me started fishing me in on other conspiracies theories about the Society but i said, "i knew nothing of what he was talking about" and stayed on point about the UN, mind you this was NOT supposed to a judicial committee it was at that moment it came to mind that they cared not about my information but gaining evidence on me. I mean during any other functions they open with prayer and these brothers were always pretty amazing in my eyes and very cordial, not so much that night.. Anyways about 40mins in the badgering brother had enough and was ready to end our meeting when i was firm on my stance on my information. The reasonable brother asked me if i wanted to take back my disassociation letter, i said, "no". He then asked me if I knew what happens if i didnt change my heart condition on the GB and i said yes "disfellowshipped, i would be disfellowshipped" and that i would no longer be able to associated with my daughter who getting baptized or any of family and friends, they all confirmed it what said will happen. The observing brother (btw who studied with me almost two decades earlier) didnt say a thing as watched me debate the badgering brother hang myself (regardless of the conspiracy) in eyes of the other two. I did ask them all individually what will they do when what they learn i told them was true and of course no answer just a blank stare. They asked "where will go" and i replied please brother open and read John 14: 6 and he did right there to all four of us in the room, and with that i got up and left. -Sorry Eric for the long rant its therapeutic, thx for all you do.

Unbelievable. My "judicial committee meeting was put together so quickly and without notice that it WAS a judicial meeting; that I was completely taken by surprise when the chairman suddenly blurts out....."You are no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses"!!??? Then he says, "there will be no right to appeal"! Especially shocked I was, because I had not committed any offense for which our publications over the last 40 years said merited disfellowshipping! It took me many weeks after the decision to realize that these 3 "brothers" conducted a mockery of a judicial process, ruined my good name un-necessarily, and provided no scriptural reasons for their decisions! By then the damage was too late. So I extracted the counsel that was of merit; namely, not to become politically charged to the point of joining a political party, voting for a politician, joining the military, or seeking political office! None of which, I was guilty of! What a crock of baloney! I am an ex- elder of 12 years and knew that the "judicial hearing" conducted was a joke, and the result of personal opinion of these men and not an infraction of scriptural laws. But like I said, I will take the good principles out of the discussion, apply them, and have requested reinstatement. Am waiting on the meeting. The only reason I want to go back to the organization is because I have found no other organization that is preaching the good news of God's Kingdom, the only real solution for man's wicked society of injustices and sickness and death. And 2: No other organization vindicates and proclaims God's scriptural name, "Jehovah". Do you know of any? Fill me in if in fact there is one; and I will look into it.

I was totally in shock.. devasted after my sister, her daughter in law, my brother, father, brother in law, nephew all ganged up and attacked me.. mob mentality!! .my family all JW... They baited me.. tackled and held me down.. 3 males while a pregnant female threw items aimed at me yet hit her husband, made him bleed and still said out loud, "OMG she cut him!" while my arms were held down to my sides by the males..she then d pulled and held on to my hair. It wasn't untilI started screaming for help and police was I finally released. I called 911 and they yelled out loud that I was lying...they rushed to the driveway and move the vehicle and trailer blocking my exit. then myyounger brother, an elder, said to me "if any one is going to jail, it's you! U don't even have current car registration or Insurance." When the police arrived they made my parents stay inside and rushed to police.. they said I assaulted my sister and even though not related they threw me under the bus regarding my vehicle status. As I lef,t I loudly said they were all fake JW's, fake christians...they moved to TX that day and I haven't spoken to anyone since..my mom never spoke up..basically complicit.. .I still love them..but definitely from a distance. ..
Your videos are definitely helping me keep my faith in our Creator and see with the eyes of discernment how much the organization has deeceived and indoctrination has deeply impaired it's members from thinking and acting like true christians.

That was terribly traumatic for you. To those who have never had a similar experience, it is unimaginable that such people,... who look normal and reasonable most of the time,... could become so cruel and such huge liars. Please do keep your distance from such people. Their lies could cause you trouble, robbing you of your peace.

@@vintage6346 thank u so much.. appreciate ur comment...
I was very resentful most of this year..from that day on I became homeless for the first time..I kept making the mistake to continue ignoring my needs, self care , self love in attempts to show grateful for any kindness non jw showed me..but all very toxic situations..I also got COVID, I got monkey pox..had to quarantine in my car both times..then one day , after researching the jw organization in detail..I was able to detach and I felt better, less brain fog ..I have the opportunity to leave this old, depressing and lacking love from my family and friends I believed would be there for me when i needed compassion or encouragement..yet it was all a blessing in disguise...helped make the decision to move and keep pushing forward...moving to work in the USVI 🏝️ in less than 2 weeks... optimistic and excited to start anew.

      @@majecal1818,
That's amazing that you have a job in the Virgin Islands to look forward to. I hope it turns out to be interesting and fulfilling work, and that it lasts for as long as you want it. I had very bad JW experiences, too. Yet, I kept refusing to wake up. Watchtower had us convinced that all suffering is persecution for "righteousness sake'. But when the persecution is "from" Watchtower,... over and over,... it's really time to re-assess our situation. May you now find joy in your freedom to make real friends and find love.

I was an elder for 20 years. I was in 100s of JC and various appeals committees. Not 1 decision was ever overturned.
    It’s like it’s a mere formality.
In one case I was inclined to overturn the decision, but the other two elders convinced me to uphold the decision.

Everything he is saying is true they already know what they’re going to do to you before you ever get there so there’s no need to talk or say anything because they already know what they’re going to do and I am so glad that they disfellowshipped me it was the most wonderful thing they could’ve ever done

I have a question to Eric and all former elders in here who left JW organisation.
At first, I‘m born and raised by JW members. I‘m close to 40 right now and hiding myself to avoid shunning and loosing my whole family.
I never found something about the joy of tobacco in the bible.
All of you surely know the JW rules about it.
Do you agree with me, that the organisations behaviour about it is not supported by the bible at all? Once they told me, smoking is similar to worship Satan, as a kind of Idolatry.
Hopefully I can get some response of you.
    Best regards from Germany,
    Joe

There is no direct condemnation of smoking or most of the vices that are common today. Such things are left of to the conscience of each one. Of course, we would not expect God to approve of any action that harms us.

David is a bully. His kangaroo court is a joke. Is there a reason why anyone can’t INSIST on bringing notes ? I’m just wondering if you refused to take your coat off, would they cancel the meeting ? What would happen if you showed up to initial judicial meeting with your lawyer to play a little hardball ? You did a great job.

      @BeroeanPickets  Před 2 lety +4

Yes, I wish I had refused to take my coat off just to see what would have happened. I should have walked into that room with everything including my computer and let them cancel the meeting. Things you wish you had done at the time, but only see in hindsight.

This guy wasn’t briefed because he thought he could handle this situation easily on his own......big mistake......huge actually! I hope he kept the receipt for his sub. circuit overseer gig.
