- Ricki gives a detailed tour of his mod sled. The turbo 1200 twin is a Brent Linderman motor on a Ski-Doo Summit X base with a Garrett Turbo. Built by Mountain Magic. Ricki was having a little trouble with the Boondocker box but user error is the culprit. We hate to beg, because it sucks, but CZcams subscription metrics are important. theSmitty1100 I 100% agree!
Yes love it I'm into the old school sleds as well love the motors and chassis style much better than new ones
That’s just INSANE!!! Very nice work!!
What a build! Pretty cool you are still rocking old school!
These sleds are amazing! I subbed 34 seconds into this video. I used to have a 2001 summit X with a union bay 740 and nitrous. Can’t wait to see this thing rip! IT’S GONNA BE A GOOD DAY!
Thanks for the interest !! We’re building some cool video mounts for some amazing footage and are gonna bring some cool vids to the channel very soon !
All your videos are absolutely amazing beautiful sleds all in all!
Subscribed for sure. Cant wait to see this thing rip in the mountains!!
Fantastic build. Can't believe it's capable of 500hp. I love it every time I see someone say it's not possible to turbocharge a two stroke.
Who says it's not possible to turbo a 2 stroke? They're literally turboed from stock nowadays.
Oh. My. God. I’d love to see this thing pull some chutes! What a monster! So cool.
Thats what you call custom great job on the sled absalutely jaw droping.👍👍
this sled is bad ass I subbed and am waiting for some riding videos!!! incredible build! Takes me back to when guys used to have to actually build their mountain sleds they didnt just come from the factory!
Charles Kienbaum right on Charles! Glad to have you aboard. We’re going to make a bunch of riding vids just as soon as the snow is a little better. Stay tuned and thanks for the sub!
Hopefully get to see a video of it in the mountains soon.
just wow like (wow) very impressive nice work
Awesome. 320 horse. Two strokes still amaze me
Simba
My apex makes like 380 and probably weighs double of what that thing does. I bet this thing is freaking awesome.
This is gold! Keep this content coming! Subscribed!
Solid gold! What we like to hear. Thanks for the sub! We have boat loads of good content coming down the pipe.
My new favourite channel, how have i never srrn this before!!!!
We’re kind of new , but things are going really well ! We have a lot of vids to do yet so welcome aboard !!

Thanks Anthony! We'll keep it up. We just need those damn 1000 subscribers so we can make a little beer money for shooting the vids.
Love all this old shit man!!! On day my old 1M is gonna get a full mod makeover. Love those big twins
Awesome!!! Thanks for watching
That is one nice sled.
Thanks for making this video! Amazing sled, i was not expecting it to completely custom! Uncountable amounts of time must have gone into the build
Awesome. We have another mod tour of the triple coming just for you Cole. Stay tuned!
You little prick lol
You are my idol. I love this shit. Keep the vids coming.
Super cool!
Wow, ne wr saw anything like that 😊
Subscribed, looking forward to snow ❄️
wowww amazing sled and videos keep them comming .... from montreal canada
Hey hey, thanks for tuning in! Glad to have you here.
Love the shirt! Onto the next video!
Need to see these thing making a pull!
Soon , we are working on new camera mounts for the sleds , and snow isnt that good yet !
Love the passion
It's beautiful
Amazing video
Damn that’s sweet. My turbo two stroke 97 thundercat 900 was not that sweet. That thing is amazing. I ran. 58mm on a triple and it spooled fairly qwik. Should be able to get that 60mm rolling good. I put it under load at 4800rpm . And it worked out good.
Digging the old school. Man I miss The smell of race gas in the big triple 2 strokes at the races . Price engines an big tuned oem units . I’m shedding a tear right now . Miss it so much city living sucks miss my sleds .
I feel for you man. Thanks for tuning in and hopefully the city warms up to you a bit.
sweet sleds you've built...id like to see some videos of them in action.
Its comin !!
Hey very very cool. I'm here in Edmonton too. I have a 2003 edge 800 and a turbo kit to install on it. I wana do it with lectron carbs
Would love see with and without expansion pipe to turbo dyno comparison. Turbo closer to heat source should be of better benefit.
Sweet, bet it rips!
You need more subs
Man. You have some sick sleds. I gotta day though. Boondocker blew me right off. Pretty good. They will build you a custom box. But when I ask them to do it for me a couple years back they wouldn’t have anything to do with it. I even told them price didn’t matter. Still a no. Anyways. Sick sled.
I love how it’s a cat 900 base.
Only way to make a doo reliable
Thanks for the vid! I've been considering doing a mod sled myself. I know that in the early 90s Yamaha had a nice triple Mountain Max. Would you still go with a Ski-Doo motor or would you look at the Polaris or the Yamaha? Thank you.
Now a days it all depends where you can find parts ?? Yamaha had the most reliable triple out of all of them just didnt make the power !
Holy fuck, sick
That's a real powerful unit, and I find turbo 2 stroke's a work of art. I own a (2 stroke, single carb) Polaris Freedom 700 jetski, 95 hp stock. Is it too much of a hassle to turbo it? Would you said it's worthed? Cheers from Brazil!
Use paint lacquer to remove paint on your snow flap or seat ( easy way)
Could you please do a video on how you tied in the battery to the rest of the sled ?
That would be a good one ! We will put it on the list ! Thx
Man. What a beautiful sled. I am loving your videos. I ride the antique stuff but love the old mods so much I bought one a few years ago. It's a totally custom 2000 Summit built by Brad Oliffe at Powder Assault in Surry BC. It was his personal sled. Has a 1080cc Genesis twin. I've got a small coolant leak from my right side dial-a-dome. Also now my ground wire is getting hot where it bolts to the sled. Any advice? Can you still get o rings and parts for these old PSI engines. It's a sick sled and I want to make it perfect. I'll have to do a walk around video of for my channel.
Sorry for late reply , some comments get hidden too quick ! You can get o-rings at any commercial bearing place , theres a place in Edmonton that sells Viton o-rings too ! Hot ground wire could mean a couple things , voltage regulator might be on its way out , might have a loose wire somewhere ?
@@DIGIT9 , thanks alot. The sled was sitting a few years, so I'll give it a good going over and check all the connections.
One gonna subscribe just bc of this sled ....I have 2 questions tho....how are you keeping that motor cool? And is it possible to run a turbo thru carbs like your set up instead of going with efi?
Cooler runs the whole length of the tunnel ! Thing never gets hot ! Was a guy in Ontario , that used to run turbos on triples , with carbs , so I know it can be done !
wow thats a lot of HP! whats the reliability of the motor like? what mods to the motor to increase strength?
Not a whole lot , polished and ported , balanced and welded crank pins , ProX pistons , custom cageless wristpin bearings ! Custom Nicasil cylinders ! V-Force 1 reeds , 46x48 oval bored race carbs !
I'm having a hard time finding parts for my 1992 skidoo rotax 580 gt. Where would you suggest getting snowmobile parts from?
Sled wrecker ? Depends where you are and what parts you are looking for ?
What is a good clutch set up for my Polaris pro s switchback 600 2016
I ride hard on the trails??
stock setup is pretty good but you could try a different helix with a steeper initial , same finish ! get you out of the hole a bit quicker
Instead of rolling the chaincase I've used Yamaha drivers they are about 4.5" across......from Wyoming USA 🔫🤠p.s. nice sled
Hi there looking for some Info as I have an 03 zr 900 carb and I'd love to do a sea level turbo setup.
What kind of info you looking for ?
Especially if your happy with 3-400 hp then pop 20 mm turbo 26 And you’ll be in love
To get a 2 cycle to work best, you really need a VGT, variable geometry turbo. A Duramax 68mm would work but you will suffer a huge weight penalty. Aerochargers are the only ones designed for the lower egts at the end of the pipes. They run a much lighter turbine housing. If you search around you might be able to find an OEM VGT that will work. For 500hp, it will be extremely difficult to get rid of massive lag. Twins would do it. If you run twin pipes and twin aerocharger 53s you could get 500hp with imperceptible lag. A single 66mm is only going to get you around 350hp.
I really want to see this work. So many people are scared to even attempt it on two strokes. However, VGT is a must, that's why all diesels run VGTs. It's the only way to get up on boost by 1500-1800rpm. They have to do that because they don't rev much past 4500rpm.
скажи название вариатора очень надо на кубатуру литра двесте и не разорвет ли его при семи тисячах оборотов
😱900cc two stroke?!
Hey man. Building a turbo 2003 efi zr800. Dont suppose you still have that turbo boondocker box you'd sell?
Yes I do
@@DIGIT9 I messaged you on instagram
What about running a capacitor from an etec or even a couple.
Tried that , doesnt work , the electrical system on that old motor just wasnt designed for whats required ! But I think I got it figured ! Gonna do an in depth vid of what I came up with shortly !! Stay tuned !!
Damn dude, that thing looks scary...
and sexy!
what oil pump are you using ?
CPC Racing oil pump !
What would you recommend a stock 2 stroke 700 efi on boost ? Any tests you have done ?
What recommendations are you looking for ?
What would you do for boost psi on a stock motor to keep life and only run at 55-6000 rpm .. On a rev limiter if I did a full second cdi box with 2 more injecters and take the head off and thread and tap another spark plug in each cyclender what would you recommend on psi?
And a Ford 2.3 turbo is what will be used
OMG , that sounds like a project ! I have NO idea !
It’s a lil laggy. Ya dub it’s a 60 mm turbo. You get the same power out of a 20 mm turbo with zero lag.
Love this channel but the Canadian dollar must get more value? What do you do for a living to afford all the mod sled goodness?
Live very modestly in all other aspects of life other than sledding.
She needs a bigger air box, like a air compressor a small tank means se'll lag from lack of reserve. The pump feeds the tank the tank feeds the engine, small box means the pump is only feeding the engine and can't push the compressed air fast enough and goes straight out the bolw by valve. Same concept in supercharging, intake manifold needs volume.
Wow. And I thought I was crazy trying to turbo my 670 and slapping a 151 track on her...
I’m going with a TD03 turbo and a bone stock (non-HO) 670 engine. I’m gonna run stock 44mm carbs (with main size increased) off of a 670 HO, pressurizing the bowls and slides, and using an in-line electric fuel pump and adjustable boost referenced fpr to keep the fuel pressure at 1psi above the boost pressure. (Hopefully haha it’s all theory currently) I’m also gonna install large reed valves in my airbox so off-boost power should be almost identical to stock, reducing lag.
No reeds my friend rotary valve on the 583 and old 670s I blew my fair share of them up I should no also a non ho tuned rite is stil a rocket on the trails just bring extra gas lol.
The reeds I’ll be using are just to allow fresh air to be drawn into the carbs, thru my custom airbox, when not in boost. So not on the engine like in usual configuration on non-rotary valve engine, but allowing the airbox to pull fresh air at low rpm, before the turbo spools up. I was going to run a TD-04 turbo but thought it was too big, so I sold it and got this TD-03 but now I’m afraid it may actually be a little too small for the 670 haha. It may build boost at like 1700rpm
How come digit 9 does not have an e mail where "subscribers" can submit photos of our trick sleds? You know to keep the sport interesting and show the world there are lots of us sled heads customizers like Ricky out there too. Just axking the quession.
That's a great idea. I'll set up some sort of blog on our digit9 website for that. A place to upload little video clips of problems and just share cool sleds. - Randy
@@RinkVideo Thanks Randy, got 3 scratch built sleds would love to share, couple 800's and a 1500 located in Vancouver.
any videos of this thing rippin yet?
Not quite yet Savage but we will soon.
Dont video a whole lot when im riding but trying to get better at it !! This thing called a job gets in the way alot but come the new year , we will have some footage !! Stay tuned !!
all that money in lightweight, but you dont have a lightweight battery? you should get one of those!
Yes I do !! Shorai lithium !
How much did it cost to build off this
Alot ! Too much
How does the oiling system work for the turbo?
Has a low amp oil pump that circulates oil through turbo !
Nice! How big of a tank does it have?
About 250 ml
Sits just below turbo
Sad that Bruce got tangled up with the secretary lady which ultimately cause the divorce that ultimately shut down PSI. Bruce had some great products. I've got one of his 880 motors based off a ZR 600 case
A turbocharged fuel injected 2 stroke...I can’t believe it! What a good time to get back into sleds!! Anyone do this to an old thundercat?
It can be done !! Was a guy in Ontario installing Turbos on Triple 2 strokes , carburated too ! Cant remember his name though !!
You can turbo a 850 ETEC
Braille lithium battery
Have you spoken with anyone from Ricky Stator?
Yup
That's a bummer, they were super helpful with my EFI conversion. Good looking build 👍
👏👏👍👌💸💸💸🇳🇴
Brent Linderman built. Are you close to the pass
nope, Sherwood Park but hanging in Sicamous for the winter
Thats pretty nasty. What kind of weight is it? I have a 1425 triple that is 95% complete and since I have been riding out west nowadays it may never get completed. Its pretty heavy.
Its not light , 475 lbs dry !
@@DIGIT9 Wow! How does it feel in the mountains?
Feels very stable !
@@DIGIT9 I would like to turbo my new Alpha one, any advice?
Boondocker is supposed to have a good kit for those ! Call Ken at Mtn Magic in Edmonton AB
I don't understand how people dare to put 14 lb of boost to a two-stroke engine when supposedly you're at risk of blowing the crank seals if you add anything over 8 lb of Base pressure from what I've been told anyways
Wonder if he ever rides it
Yes I do , haven’t been big on videos but since we started this Digit9 thing , gonna try and get some good vids of it soon !
@@DIGIT9 wanta see her go
@@shaddowland3811 czcams.com/video/ZH9Jp-y1G34/video.html
60 mm will support 1,000hp
As soon as someone calls nitrous "NAWWS" you lose all credability.
30 series...A little laggy! LOL
clutching was a bit off , Boondocker box not adjusted properly , made some changes , should be better , update vid coming shortly
How bout ditch the oil pump
there is no oil pump for motor , just a pump for the Turbo lube
@@DIGIT9 cool thanks for the reply great videos
turbo is a bit too big if you ask me
Yup , it is , all I had at the time !
Bad it got a cat engine even better
I thought u can’t turbo a 2 stroke
Caden James you can, I’m not 100% how it works for a two-stroke Detroit diesel but it works and you can turbo say a two stroke quad/snowmobile but just doing it normal does nothing beneficial. unless you put values for it before the turbo? I’m not 100% sure if that’s true but that’s what I heard.
@@tristenkiesow4061 I got a silver 8v92 detroit, the thing here is the exhaust power valves (trapping valves to you Boysesen fans) with aloow to build boost!
Hows this for a turbo 2 stroke Napier Nomad:czcams.com/video/oRpRVKdSy1w/video.html, thats a 2500+ CID turbo compound 2 stroke completed in 1954, way ahead of its time, 3600 to over 4000 hp! Also here is a 2 stroke chevy converted v8:www.4btswaps.com/attachments/2cyclesbc-jpg.6839/.
The guys at PSI genesis would loose it if they could mod a Napier Normad flat 12 2 stroke!
Looks kinda wimpy
Super wimpy!
@@DIGIT9
You shoulda kept the 670 .
Cat really. Gross.
To my best knowledge when you run a turbo on a two-stroke you no longer need an expansion chamber but I guess I'm wrong. And maybe increasing the size of the case will allow you to get more case pressure and the Turbo makes up for the expansion chamber.
Why would you mod a trailering arm snowmobile
Because they are the best DEEP snow sled on the Planet !
