Honestly, Es has one of the smoothest base kits out of all the characters. The second hit out of her air combo spikes enemies straight down, letting her immediately set up for pogo combos. Once you get jump canceling on her, going from a grounded combo, to launcher, to spike, to double plummet feels so smooth.
Also don't worry too much about Hibiki. He's more of a 'death by 1000 cuts' character, but he can be really fun with the right setups. Jump cancel+divekick on him loops REALLY fast, and he can become a blender very quickly.
just in case you missed it, when picking up tactics in the run you can press the button to view tactics synergies/ upgrade tree (square button in your case at 4:00)
Es is INSANE in this game, IMO the most fun and fluid basic attack combo with potentials

Es's basic skill seems REALLY good for building SP even if the damage isn't great.
It seems like it might be worth checking the tactics tree when picking your first few tactics, just to make sure you're going into combos that can get you dual tactics.

Regarding the double tactics you got in Omega, you did actually stumble upon it. To get a double tactic you need one tactic type (i.e. rend) to expand upon with more tactics then you also need a DIFFERENT tactic type to get the double tactics.
The tavtic tree can be overwhelming but it really helps you to get to the double tactic you want especially in Hard mode which is a LOT harder. You need those double tactics in hard mode to really add up the dmg numbers since everything hits harder.
Duo Tactics work as following. You need the last tactic in a tree and the first tactic in a different tree. Then you have a chance for them to show up. you have 5 slots for tactics, Basic attack, Skill, Legion Skill, Summon, and Dodge. Duo Tactics pair 2 of these together and they cannot overlap once paired. In this case your Final level of the Light spear Skills tree paired with your Icicle Dodge tree. Because of that, it couldn't pair with say your Poison Basic attack tree at the same time, but your basic attack tree could still pair with your summon tree. So at most in a run you can have 2 Duo Tactics with one double dipping. Like how both your Skill and Legion skill were both Ice Light spears.

Es, character from the Visual Novel XBlaze, a prequel to Blazblue main story, by the way, the story of her getting lost and ending up in the Blazblue time (I mean just some 800+ years ahead of her time), is 100% true
in the fighting game, she is another easy strong character
hope you are liking the game as much as me, something I noted on a few characters
Ragna, Lifedrain isnt as drastic if you get a good hit, cause its set to get more HP than what was used, BUT, its hard to be above 50% HP
Lammda-11, I love her, Nu-13 and Mu12 in the fighting game, important tip, her starting attack requires you to allow some time to pass for all hits to finish, and if you get her summon blades (I love those things) have great tracking and distance to cheese a lot of fights
Hakumen, so unlike the game where when he is in a counter state he gets full Iframes (that can literally tank all non grab supers with no damage), now only cover and is active in the front, as long as the attack cant connect with his back, or hits the front first, you trigger the Counter, also found a Potential that gives the dash the slash attack from the counter, it was as broken as it sounds, just not as much damage
Edit: for all characters, their attack into jump attack is really good on all

I love her but I can't pull of one of her special attacks. The one where you have to hold Up and Special Skill buttons. She rarely does what I want her to do, which is a diagonal slash that can follow with a wing shaped crests. Usually she ends up just doing her regular special skill attack instead. I can't get timing right on that for the life of me. Other skills work really well and I have alot of fun with combos but that one thing....I don't think I'm going to pick that up ever again.

so your favorite class is assassin, fav weapon is spear and fav thing to do is parry. thats a very specific combination. actually you need Mizu from Blue Eye Samurai as playable character.
I'm a big fan of the spear but I'll take a Bo Staff as well. Better at deflecting and counter fighting. I've effectively singled out Donnie the Ninja Turtle. Despite not being a big TMNT fan.

48:20 im pretty sure that was a visual & movement bug that likely had nothing to do with the hitbox
the game was probably like i am supposed to end up over here and the attack is scripted to hit this area
as a result it might have accidentally triggered a wrong animation but kept the intended hit box

You in essence nearly stumbled onto es' other build. The crest basic attack build, you had one of the big potentials needed for it. The extra blooming thing, the other makes -all- basic attacks spawn crests and those all double bloom... which basically just makes her fill the screen with crests. Super easy to juggle stuff but the downside is you gotta actually fight with bosses rather than skill burst them. Her charging heavy strike potential (on you got early) is basically a free SP move for her with the damage to match, but takes a bit to charge.
the phenomenon giving 3% HP in resting space is from before patch, the rest space used to clear corruption only, no heals
Sounds rough only getting 3% and NO heals either
I don't blame you for liking Hakumen as your best but I gotta go Big Bro Ragna as mine. His base kit is so good to my brain and mixxed with some of his potentials(Devour the Darkness and Blood Kain my beloved) makes him a nightmare to be against but makes you play a very dangerous game of dancing with Death if you can't manage your hp well enough
You can literally get the triple dash, the dash crest potential + a dash activated tactic and beat the entire run without touching the attack or skill button with Es, that’s how good (or broken) she is

Beelz! This is fighting game dressed as a roguelike. So you need to style! Look how to make your own combo with the Potentials.
Was doing more of that in previous runs. But a universal truth in most of these games is if you can find 1 strong thing, you abuse it.
I didn't even know you remembered Blade Assault. I bought it around the time you were making videos of it, but never played it until last month; I played it nonstop for a little while (35 hours total). It's a shame it was abandoned because I liked that game more than I expected. I would go so far as to say I loved that game. I beat it once with every character before putting it down; I didn't want to get too dug into it knowing it was abandoned.

Hibiki is actually the first character i beat the game with! I’d recommend trying to get all of his dashing potentials with his super its REALLY fun if you can get it but it requires four potentials to work

Es is short for Embryo Storage (no I'm not joking, you can see it on the wikis and the VN games, yes she came from a VN series to blazblue fighting game)

it kinda depends what you expect from hibiki. i personaly would lump him together with jin in the category "death by a thousand cuts". if you pick him as your very first character he kinda pales in comparison to the insane damage output of haku-men and can seem underwhelming, but so does for example lambda 11 who needs potentials to actually do any damage at all (even her intro video says so).
and es is just switchblade-pogo-stick the character. you should pick her mordred potential next time, it also fills her ulti way quicker then the mp-skills.
and of course sorry for your loss, friend of mine had to deal with a similar situation, it sucked, take your time. we all love you very much.
not gonna lie Es seems genuinely fun lol-she's the first character from this series that i am actually watching the video to the end instead of getting bored in the first 10 minutes

Happy New Year Beelz. And yes Hibiki is hugely underwhelming. As my first unlock I was totally confused what the game expected of me to do decent damage but eventually I unlocked Daddy Hakumen and Big Bro Ragna and they have been outstanding.
I've cracked it finally. Hibiki is not bad. It's just dash+slash into heavy and take the one upgrade to his skill holding down creating clones+ skills do frost damage and you'd be annihilating everything on the maps. I finally lost to the tar monster in zone 3 cause the bubbles he spew does aoe and it took me a revive to finally understand that
My pure ice Es run ran Susano into the ground with prejudice. He died so fast I was concerned.
Edit: Gambling is life... unless you get unlucky. Then you gamble again.
Edit2: Ice is godlike buuut others are incredible as well. Issue: Ice is more common. Very very common.

just finished my hard max entropy es run, susanoo was ez asf but god damit arakune is a headache to deal with
Now you see why we were saying to play as Es! Despite not picking the best Potential synergies you can see how insane she is. You should play as Jin next who is super fun then No 11. Hibiki is really the weakest character IMO. So glad you are enjoying this game cause its best rogue of 2023.
Just beat the game as Es like a few minutes before I saw this she's absolutely great. I still would love to see a No. 11 run!

I fully expected the waifus to go first. I wanted to see Jin, as I quite enjoy timing mechanics outside of counters. I'm not even sure if my vote was counted, as I can't see my comment with my vote on the video.
Hibiki is underwhelming, but his inheritable passive is to do double damage when hitting someone from behind.
So you should have played Hibiki first so you can give other, better chars the back attack double damage passive, which is a very awesome passive on chars that are already OP. It is very easy to get behind a boss and do huge damage because they stand still for a while while telegraphing attacks
And the legacy skill is okay too, it's just a 360 spreadshot of throwing knives that you can shotgun big boys with by point blanking them.

It looks like when you pass the first gate it has "normal" above his head with arrows, as if you can select another difficulty? Edit: As I hit enter, you literally said "as I do that in hard mode". skill goes weird maybe because of potential synegies you can check it in the character detail tab mine got me confused because hakumen somehow fire fully charge move as a basic attack either way, HNY
I wonder if Es a reference to Saber from fate/stay... I mean, Es->S->Saber.. it would also make sense with all the allusions to King Arthur in her move set (also that epic ahoge)
Also, I wonder if your controls are under an older scheme? I got the game recently and my controls (granted, using an xbox controller) are completely different. B to jump, triggers for legacy skills, etc. Have you tried resetting the controls? I wonder if they updated the defaults recently
I've hit reset on them a few times. I got a pop up when I first booted the game informing me an update was made to fix some key mapping issues and use new payouts. It prompted me to reset the controls. No idea why it's different.
Why is Saber from Fate here? Why she firing missiles?
Henlo, first, PLEASE, the exchange spaces in the normal stages have a refresh that costs 70 exchange points, and it refreshes the tactic option which can be purple as well, the healing, and the corruption/mixture/entropy, that's why events can sometimes be good cause they can instagive you 200 exchange points for like -2 hp mixtures which imo is a good af trade, since you could probably not need them or get them back through another exchange space and sometimes at a discounted price.
EsEsEs is borked af, and her synergies get so cracked especially with her basic attacks and aerial combat, and skills just do fuck tons of damage... all with cold. Cold imo is the best tactic in the game, in my limited experience of the game so far which is comparable to yours except I did most of my runs on hard mode and either failed at 4th boss or beat the game & it's split 60/40. Rend isn't just bleed, it deals damage based on the distance the target moves while afflicted by it, so moves that knockback a large horizontal distance or enemies that move a lot take a lot of damage, burn is a simple DoT, poison delays burst damage after 2 seconds, light does weird but effective af shit, dark is like weakness exposure from skul except one big burst of damage instead of 3 small ones, and then there are the other tactics like giant slayer, combo protection, perennial, HP mixtures heal to full, etc..
Also, jin is next, and he is imo the most swag and complex character when you get his Ki unsheathe and sheathe shit, as well as the best evotype in the game, cause he gives slowing down time to your dodges, a chance to slow, OR FREEZE if you have the potential for jin OR TACTIC for other characters, and his attack is 3 many icebergs that shoot out at enemies and freeze them, he is insane!!

Uhm I think your Skill crest became a bit different... bigger and the pattern on the big spinning one changed, the spacing between the teeth also got bigger if I'm not seeing things. The Dash skill crests look like they got a lot bigger too!
