Flew Qatar bis class on my last trip to Thailand, from Manchester. It's a great service and very comfortable, you'll have a bit less time on the transfer at Doha going back but it's enough. Flew out of the S terminal coming back - had no idea that was even being built. Just need to allow an extra 15 min to get to the gate. The lounge in Manchester is a bit crap compared to Doha or Bangkok.
suit looked great Nick, when i was over last (on my way to UK), i had left my jacket at home, so went to Lucky telling him i needed 1 in tweed (due to the weather) B6K later in 3 days i had it and very happy with the result. I usually fly Bus class on Emirates, as I find it the best of the best. Like you, I had to ride the train and was surprised by this but no drama. The good thing about emirates is that you get a limo thrown in each end to take you to hotel or visa versa from airport. Saves the hassle of catching trains and a walk/taxi to destination. They upgraded things at Heathrow with an Emirates concierge in arrivals level so no need to look for a driver with a sign, all seamless. Enjoy your time with family and friends and see you soon.
I flew to BKK and back to London with Qatar a few couple of weeks ago. As far a I can recall, there was no mention of covid containment on the entertainment in economy. Meals were the usual fare in cramped seats, but there was some decent enough stuff on the 'telly'.
If you go onto Qatar website it tells you which flights are Q suite. You don't have to take all legs in Q suite and prices remain normal for business. We did 3 of 4 legs recently and chose the flights and paid around 110k
Wow! Qatar treated you like a rock star asking if you wanted to take an earlier flight. The most time I have spent in Doha is 9 hours but the Biz lounge facilities are really great. Interesting to see what “home” is like for you.
Q Suites do not cost any more than Business , just check when you book, they always show which flights have Q Suites but in my experience you can't beat the A380 in business on Qatar.

Took Qatar back to Dublin in February .Cattle class ,as i am on a state pension . My stop over in Doha was only 1h15m .Far too short as you have to go through security again .Made it though by doing a lot of running through the huge terminal .Doha to Dublin was a pain as i ended up seated to the fattest widest lump of lard on the planet .Qatar itself is fine ,but i will be making different arrangements next time .
I had a 1hr 25 transit through Doha in March as still had time to go round the duty free shops before going to the gate. Security took 1 minute because they have the new scanners. Also sounds like you didn't reserve your seats at the time of booking

That's a great idea, as we get older multipole flights are stressful. It is far easier to fly to Scipole Airport, then straight on to Savernabumi Airport. I had the same problem the last time I was in Thailand, I thought it would save me money If it took three flights, it did, but not knowing either Heathrow or Dohar Airports made the journey A bit of a nightmare, Like you I only had an hour and a half between flights. This year I will be simplifying my journey.

My friend many years ago used to swear by the supposed British fish and chips restaurant in Soi Lenke, this was back in early 2010 and no you're correct, it wasn't a patch on true UK fish and chips, yet it was still about £6-£7 even back then! Which was a very expensive meal for Pattaya at the time.

British Airways reward scheme - loads of ways to collect them, including everyday shopping and redeemable on Qatar. I’ve flown Qatar business to Asia multiple times and never paid more than £350 (the cost of the taxes)
I did qatar man to bkk and back economy for £347 return never has that price come around again but they are a gòod airline and always arrive in bkk at least 45 mins ahead of their schedual time
flew q suite this year to and from bangkok personally prefer emirates the attendants basically want you to kip all the way i asked to be woken for dinner on 2 flights that never happened then i was woken with both breakfast and dinner the experience was another level though had pyjamas and slippers the lounge at Doha on the way back was packed and had to wait 40mins for a seat not complaining as i say i just prefer emirates now the cost of business now is unreal £8000 for my wife and i pre covid £5500 enjoy the wedding

I cleaned it with IPA and it has worked and the price is about the same. We have so many cameras that I don't want to buy anymore but sadly I only brought one with me.

I flew with Qatar last year… it was a horror show! The stewardesses where great! But the ground staff in Doha! Disgusting! I’ve never seen such a circus in my life! It was the worst experience of my life travelling 🤦🏻♂️
fly Singapore Airlines is just world class every thing is done superbly and Singapore Airport is easy and relax connecting hub and beautiful with it botanical garden atmosphere 👍

Yes I always did the Emirates A380 and loved it but had a shit experience last year so thought I'd try Q Suite.

Nothing worse than this happened to me once and I damaged some muscles.

The lounges were very quiet when I was there and I had the same as you ie I wasn't woken up. I paid about £2800 return.

The same me it seems to not have been in the media unless I've missed it. Apparently it opened in January.

I thought it was one of the best I've ever done and another one I want to try is Singapore Airlines.
