I was a boarder at Ndola Dominican Convent School in 1964, at the tender age of 9 - 10 yrs, my parents were at Solwezi in the bush, only saw them once at mid-term. Boarding schools should be banned all over the world!! Princess Diana didn't like them either! Love to you happy Zambians still living in your country! Miss your songs, dances and inimitable tone of voice and sunsets, and the smell of the rain coming, oh and the matabele ants!
My father lived and worked in Ndola for years in the 1960s and 70s! I visited in 74 and 75! I remember his house in a quiet neighborhood! Those were memorable trips to Zambia!
Ndola Airport was my first point of contact in Zambia at the tail-end of 1966. That was the beginning of 10 wonderful years during which time I made many friendships. Also, Ndola used to have a great bookshop, where I used to buy for the library at Mukuba Secondary School, Kitwe. They always had the latest in the Heinemann African Writers series.
HAHAHA! That wall by Ndola Central will always be the dirtiest wall in the world. Eeesh, makes me miss zed. I used to live on Kabinga Ave, so it was good it see the drive around. Football stadium looks bad ass!!
The stadium is looking great now, but therez need to improve our landscaping. Can those people in diaspora join hands and donate some money to improve our city.
