  • In K-12 education, data science instruction equips students with the introductory skills and problem-solving strategies that are critical for collecting, analyzing, interpreting and visualizing data. It focuses on processes and techniques rooted in mathematics, statistics and computer science, all of which help prepare students for more advanced data science skill development when they enter college or the workforce.
The newly released Data Science is For Everyone Report from ExcelinEd and the Burning Glass Institute showcases how pressing the need is-and what states can do to better prepare students for future employment across job sectors.
This webinar features Carlo Salerno, Managing Director of Education Insights at the Burning Glass Institute; Dr. Steve Levitt, William B. Ogden Distinguished Service Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago; Lindsey Henderson, Secondary Mathematics Specialist at the Utah Department of Education; and Lowell Matthews, ExcelinEd Senior Policy Advisor for College and Career Pathways.
The panelists discuss the report release, which shows demand is high for data science skills, wage premiums exist, the skills are penetrating typical non-tech fields and the need for these skills in K-12 education now.
