Junk Journal Cover Panel with Ribbon Wraps - Tutorial

- Looking for a unique cover idea for your next junk journal? Check out this shabby cover panel tutorial for a simple, removable closure with a shabby chic flair!
In this video I’m demonstrating how to make a removable cover panel with wraparound ribbons to securely tie up a stuffed junk journal. It’s in the Shabby Chic style with a gorgeous antique postcard, handmade lace edging, an antiqued painted frame and a beautifully cracked focal image. Just use similar supplies from your own stash to make this creative closure for your next journal project.

I so understand the struggle Carol! I think the biggest chore for me is binding the signatures, haha. But the cover is also a kind of barrier, especially if I want to do something other than collage. I found the ink process interesting. Never heard of quinacridone before but I use the gel stain all the time.
I’m really loving experimenting with the liquid acrylic inks - they are different than regular acrylic in a couple of important ways! They keep the intensity, for one thing, even when you dilute it and I love the way they run. It acts more like a glaze over top other mediums. I put off getting them for forever, but they are a lot of fun. Thanks so much for the support and encouragement Dawn! I appreciate you.
