Side note…….I received my Danessa Myricks dewy cheek and lip palette today and the exact same thing happened with the lightest peach shade - it was a melted mess….so am thinking perhaps it’s a formula issue? Will be curious to hear if your replacement does the same thing. Regardless I absolutely LOVE the palette and that shade in particular. Hands down the best pore filling primer I have used has been the Tarte timeless smoothing in the jar ,) I have been trying to make the La Mer fluid work with failure, tried for like the tenth time with just a little bit of the Tarte primer and I loved how it looked YAY !! I do have the first Cle De peau in the radiant matte which I do not care for…. I will eventually get the natural one soon, just received the Lisa Eldridge but have not opened it yet as I have about 12 very high end foundations that need to be used first ,) I can’t wait to put it to use though !! I would also like to get the New Chanel one but passing on the CT beautiful skin as I feel it wouldn’t give me the lasting time I need….. Probably won’t get the NARS as I’m just not a NARS foundation fan neither have I found a Dior one that I like, I have not tried the Dior Air flash due to not being able to find a color match so waiting to go get matched in store before I get that one due to many failed shades big one being the TF shade and illuminate which sits and is expiring as days go by hoping to find a friend that can wear it ,) I used to NEVER wear foundation now being over 35 I have very uneven skin with lots of redness so I do feel I need it now, I can’t just do concealer I have to at least put a light layer of foundation to even it out ( the concealer ) yup that is my journey with my love hate relationship with foundations

    • @TaniaBWells
      @TaniaBWells  Před 2 lety

I have to agree with you! The best filling primer is the Tarte one! I can’t overuse it or it will peel but if used properly it is amazing!! I also have the Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate foundation in the wrong color and i tend to not want to use it:( i make myself combine it with a deeper foundation!!

I love your reviews. I have the Dior in the frosted glass bottle and I really like it. I’m worried that that formula is one that has been changed so a repurchase makes me hesitant. Foundations are having a moment. So many options. I’m still going to get the Lisa Eldridge after I’ve used up some I already have open. I’m trying not to be so wasteful in 2022. I think you’re stunning. I love that your sweet hubs recreated a drink for you. He’s definitely a keeper. ❤️❤️❤️

And yes, i’m so glad Andrew can re-create drinks because it saves us so much money😂

My experience with the CT beautiful foundation is that it is super comfortable to wear. I don’t like any of her others so I was pleasantly surprised. I was shocked to hear you say you can feel it on because it’s so comfortable to wear it feels like nothing. Not heavy at all when not applied with a brush. I hate heavy or full foundations too. According to CT bloggers it’s a combo between her magic foundation and her flawless filter and that’s why they suggest you use your fingers and then finish with a damp sponge, not a brush. I am able to apply it very lightly or can apply it to get a medium coverage. Just wanted to offer my experience. The finish is definitely like satin and real skin. Beautiful and feels so good on. ❤️

Great round-up!!! I have the Charlotte Tilbury, which kind of ended the reign of Lisa Eldridge since I have to mix 2 LE shades together whereas in CT I am 7N. It's perfect for me. It provides over enough coverage so I feel no need to build up and it lasts under my masks at work: winning!! I still want to try the Nars. I didn't like that thick full coverage foundation they did but always have a bottle of Radiant Tinted Moisturiser on the go, so this release speaks to me. If I get the chance to try the Chanel (stores only just reopened after lockdown here) I shall certainly do so!

I'd recently tried the new CT, Nars & the Newer Dior forever glow. Ended up buying the Dior. Until today the Nars was going to be my next one.
But, I was also intrigued by the N1 de Chanel but didn't know I could try it first? I did however find it in a different Ulta. So I wore it today & OMG ❤️❤️❤️❤️. I also tho wore a sample of a primer with it & I think the combo is perfection. The Dior Dreamskin. So now I have the 2 of them in my wishlist. I’ve never had good experience with NARS foundation. I had the soft matte line and it started out beautifully but it just wore so so bad with time, not even reach 4 hours, I think just around 1-2 hrs and it separated terribly on my skin, like nothing ever. I tried everything to make it work because it looked very promising when you first put it on. I ended up wasting almost the whole bottle lol Kinda lose hope with NARS since then. I’m waiting for my Chanel NO.1 to arrive since there are so many positive reviews about it and it’s very intriguing to me, really hope it turns out well. Thanks for your review 💗

Thank you Tania. This review is so helpful. I think you love the Chanel
so much because the color is perfect for you. I am also a B30 in Chanel.
You need to explore the La Mer Soft Fluid. I believe I like it more than
the Chanel. For reference, in La Mer I am the Neutral color. It will also
be your color. I have all of the foundations you just reviewed, except
the Dior. My most beloved Dior is the Dior Natural Nude, with the white
cap. You need to go directly to the House of Dior to purchase it.

Your reviews are so sincere! I love them. These guys look gr8 on you. I do NOT like foundations except for a few powder ones. These are just so expensive, i cannot justify the prices, they are charging. Im trying to understand the industry, but i definitely feel at this time that its predatory in a sense..especially if Im going to wash it off at the end of the day or after a few hours. I like your philosophy about investing in skincare, but I do also feel that that doesn't have to equal the cost it takes to feed a few families. That seems strange to me too. You are beautiful my dear! Thanks!

I totally agree - this is why I didn’t wear any makeup (except for a few weddings - for which mostly I’d go to a salon and have them do my makeup) for over 20 years. Now I’m 40 and wanting to make videos for my work with a fancy camera which show SO much detail, so I’m investing in makeup. I started with drugstore foundations but couldn’t find a good one (I have dry skin and large pores) and apprently I stink at shade matching so 3-4 failed bottles later I am starting to look at more high ends brands, because I can swatch them in the store. But regarding you point about the cost, there is an economic factor called ‘the red Lipstick index’ or something similar, when money is tight aka inflation or recession, makeup sales go up because people can’t buy new shoes or get their hair or nails done or get new clothes, but they can buy a lipstick. That being said, I’ve never bought a luxury brand item although I’ve been going to Nordstrom’s on a weekly basis to swatch them. Every once in a great while there have good sales. The chanel one would still be $45-$50 bucks which is a ton for me. But it’s just a little more than high end at ulta or Sephora. And cheaper than the failed drugstore ones! Haven’t found one that I consider worth it yet though. I wish they made samples

I was sent the Dior skinglow and it's so awful. I drenched my skin for a week & tried it again to see if it was me! It wasn't. This foundation dries and sits in little circles around my pores. I have never seen anything like it before. Its a lot like the new formulations that are supposed to be hydrating or glowy but are dry as chalk. I have nicely balanced skin to begin with! I had oily skin when I was young and now I have just regular skin (I am 44) it's still fairly plump. I used it several days in a row and my skin got dryer and dryer and dryer. Hi, new subscriber to your channel 😊
I love the Chanel No.1 too (incidentally we are shade twins - very useful), however, because it is described as being a "clean" foundation, I do wish they hadn't added fragrance. I'd love to wear this daily but the fragrance would be too much for my skin.
Why brands add skincare to their products is an unanswered question. The small amounts cannot penetrate through the actual foundation, a primer, sunscreen and moisturiser! The moisturiser is an occlusive, which, by default, acts as a barrier. So, unless the added skincare, in the product ingredients, are very oily, they will literally sit on the skin.
Anyhoooooo, this was a very detailed and informative vid and I very much appreciate you mentioning your skin type. Thank you so, so much. 💗
