"Oblique Thrills" is a slight departure from the "normal" Röyksopp-catalogue. The track came about in February earlier this year. Whilst recording parts for a completely different song, we learned that the great Lyle Mays had passed. Consequently, we decided to embark on a "fusion-esque" venture as a nod to Mr. Mays, but in a Röyksopp manner. Our good friends Ole Vegard Skauge (bass), Jørn Øien (piano & Prophet) & Ivar Thormodsæter (acoustic drums) also took part in the journey.

And here I was thinking I was too old to be a fan again. Then I find Royksöpp. Your music is inspiring, dense of references to the sounds I grew up with, rich and researched, joyfully exploring any front you guys feel like. I admire you and you inspire me.
Mystical, fantastic, intriguing, groovy - into jazzy, welcoming, sombre, melancholic.. sets me up first to dance, but then gently pushes me towards finger snapping, all the while nodding in unison. How can humans produce this!! The work of musical deities
I have a feeling the two men in charge may not themselves yet realise just how evocative, unique and truly spectacular this song is.

Great to listen to whilst going through that type of pain, these guys nailed the romance blues and also reflections of existentialism...

@Squeeek Album released in 2014 was announced as a final album. They are releasing so much good music as a lost tapes that its hard to believe there will be no another LP anymore
But Lost Tapes is just rare songs that already exist, right? I thought they weren’t new songs.

I have always liked electronic music and the like, and I have had a lot of love for jazz from my childhood, so this song killed it, I am in love! Röyksopp was always my go to during my college days.
