- This little rig isn't very well known but has become an important part of my fishing arsenal. You can fish it just like a Senko or a jig. It's great for tough fishing conditions.

I truly appreciate your videos. I just started fishing last year and have caught descent bass because of you Andrew Flair and John B. God bless and merry Christmas to you!
Mattt Wilson is a super good guy and this is a beautiful way to rig soft plastic baits. Thanks Gene
+Wayne Mills I totally agree
Great job of explaining the Rage Rig flukemstr!
It's good to see this under-rated rig being put to use, don't leave home without it.
hey just wanna say thanks for all the awesome vids! I'm new to bass fishing and learned allot of stuff i can utilize out on the water from you. that being said i caught my largest bass ever. 7lbs, using the rage rig today! then it went on to catch three more bass within 10 casts! that was after 2hours of trying a frog, switched, and scooped em out! love it man, thanks!
Awesome Mark, Congratulations. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the video. just learned about the rig today and needed more information.
Thanks for taking the time to share.
That sounds like a cool color combo. I'm gonna give that a try. Thanks for your comments and support.
Good video with insights on how to rig and catch bass with this rage rig! Thanks!
Good morning, and I just tied that on my rod, going to try this weekend, thanks Gene.
Really learn quite a bit from your videos. Thanks !
Can't wait to try this. Bass in my area seem really keen to crayfish lures, most likely because we have way too many crayfish in our lakes.
Bama boy again, nice video and I just added this technique to my memory box. I will be trying this rig this weekend...and your fluke rig with the sinker on the hook...THANKS.
You're exactly right. I've probably got a dozen different keel weighted hooks and each of them acts a little different. That's why I choose to use Moaner hooks with this rig. It was designed for it, plus they are great swimbait hooks as well. You get a perfect fall with almost any bait you put on it.
Your videos are great thank you for all of them you have tought me so much I can say I've cought a lot more fish because of your videos thanks man
Landondx1 Thanks Landon, I'm glad I could help
Thanks Matt. And thanks for making some great hooks. I'm a customer for life.
I first heard about it at one of Bass Resource's Road Trips. I was sitting down talking to Steve Parks. He's the inventor of the Rage Tail Products. I didn't think much about it then but I've gradually come around to trying it and I really like it. It can be fish in almost any cover with minimal hang-ups and the bass seem to love it.
Was fishing some floating grass coming into the gulf in late spring early summer from my kayak and hammered some cobia on this rig with the zoom fluke. Nothing worth keeping but tons of fun. The slow fall right next to the cover really does a great job imitating a cautious bait fish.
Thanks for the video Gene. I've been slaying 'em with rage tails since I watched this video. Still need to order some of those moaner hooks but rigging the rage tail on a bass jig has been super effective too.
Very cool. Rage Tails are amazing baits.
Outstanding! I've gotta give this rig a try.
Thanks Again,
I like how you talked about the bait then actually went out and used it. I subbed
Thanks Tyler, I"m glad you like it.
I absolutely love Rage's Space Monkey, cannot get enough of it, been slaying bass in rivers and lakes. They're real durable too, I'll catch 6-7 bass on one plastic before it gets too damaged
I like the look of this rig gonna try it!
Awesome thanks! Gonna head out to the lake tomorrow with this rig and mess with some spawners.
Cool rig, definitely gonna give it a shot, thanks for showing it!
Way to catch a fish on cue as well!
Have tons of recovery time to watch your vids since my appendix got removed. Their definitely informative and im picking up many tips from you. Thanks for nice vids ill sub
I've got one rigged and ready to try Monday. Great tip, thanks!
I nailed a couple nice Smallies on this over the weekend! Great system!!
Cool...I've been doing this for years with weighted swimbait hooks and Craw Papis to great effect. I have the hooks with a weight that you can adjust position on the shank so you can do a horizontal fall or put the weight up towards the eye for a jig-like action.
Awesome rig...I'll try it.
I just had breakfast and it's killin' me. LoL
Great vid man
Yea, I have them trained. lol Actually I guide on a private lake that would put Bill Dance's lakes to shame. That's why I'm using it to make all these instructional videos. It's not the only lake you see in my videos but it's the main one. Thanks for watching my videos.
thats what I was thinking. thanks for the quick reply! Ill be giving it a shot tonight!
Awesome to have a name for this rig, well now I know I suppose. My favorite rig to punch grass with a VMC 3/32 and a heavy creature bait. Good times.
great video....I have been using this rig for quite sometime....I didn't realize it actually had a name..lol
lol, I google rage rig having no idea how its done and Its the master explaining how to do it. Gracias sir
I did this last summer just messing around, worked pretty well.
Great video! I've been using the rage rig for a little while now and it's true, not many people know about it, but it's deadly. Personally I buy weighted hooks from confidencebaits. They're local to me and they use a super sticky light wire hook. I use the rage mostly for finesse flipping
That's freaking awesome man!! Congrats!!
You can use that thing with worms as well. I've found that ribbon tail worms work much better than straight tailed ones.
Kentucky is a Bass factory. Almost every Lake has ample bass, love the spotted and largies in Herrington
Thanks for sharing all this. I just checked out Moaners website and gonna order a few things real soon. I love finding things like this that are just alittle different than what I get around my local shops. Especially hooks, sometimes just a little more bend or the weight moved by 1/8" can make a huge difference.
Have you tried this technique recently? It’s ingenious learning a lot from going back to some of your older videos. Thanks for what you do.
love your videos
I live about 20 minutes from Clarks Hill and it has been tough. The bass aren't doing what they normally do this time of year. I'm still finding them in the back third of the creek arms.
Thanks.
Thanks man
Thanks
great tip, this works well with plastic jerk baits as well.
Used this rig about 3 months ago with a Havoc Pitboss, last bait ready to pack it in, was slow finessein' a caught 3 keepers fast as I could cast it back out.
That's cool.
No, It's a private lake that I guide on. It's owned by the company I work for. It's stocked with large bass and we manage it to the highest level. I always try to call it by name or call it my lake or something to identify it so the viewers know I'm not on any of the other public lakes that I film on. If you notice I don't get as excited about the bass I catch on that lake as I do the ones I catch on public lakes.
You'll love it Fred. Remember to fish it like a senko.
I use a swimbait hook with a 1/16th and a twist lock to keep the plastics secure. Nice subtle rig option
Can you do another video on this rage rig? there aren't many videos on different techniques with this setup. I love this rig and would like to see other ways to fish it.
I didn't know there was a name for this I was just using what I had! lol great vid
I use senkos with this rig and bass love it.
Thanks a bunch! That is a genius idea! Great video also!
definitely trying this one!!
I love paycheck hooks. I've never tried the skirts though.
that fish about took the rod out of your hand that's awesome!!!
I enjoy your videos bro💯 fish on an keep me updated. Also, I have a favor to ask can u put a video on here on how fish the super flukes in winter. I appreciate it. Thank u
great video brother thanks for the info!
Yes I did. I made it out of PVC pipe and it fits into an old 10lb weight that I had laying in the garage.
Going to try it with speed craws dipped In JJ's red, blue and Methylate. Starting with a green pumpkin as a base. It's crazy great grape.... Well that's what I call it. Love your videos keep posting them and Fish On >-^;>~-------------
I'm the absolute worst at fishing a jig.. I don't want to be, I just can't get a bite on one or maybe I'm not using the right jig. This may be as close as I come to fishing a jig, since I have tons of confidence fishing a senko.. Gonna try this baby out! Thanks Gene!
It easy to catch fish like that when you are fishing in a heavily stocked lake.
And thats what its all about, these guys are all trying to sell a product like thats all you need to catch fish. I cry bullshit. I don't care what you you use, if there are no fish, you don't catch fish. The best skill in fishing is learning how to find them and if the lake or river is heavily pressured it makes it hard to get them to hit your stuff, no matter what it is.
HA!!! I've been using this rig for the last few years. In my family, it's called the "Crap!! I forgot to put more hooks in the box, guess I'll try this funny looking hook" :) :)
Cool! Good Luck
thxs alot i live in kentucky and we aint got too much bass but i used the rage rig and i got a 8 pounder
Great vid! Would this work with a plastic worm? I'm thinking something bigger like a Zoom Mag Trick Worm.
Can you do a video on the ned rig?
When I first started bass fishing I thought the weighted hooks were for that. The first time I bought tackle for bass fishing I got craws and weighted hooks, it just seemed right. Then after awhile I started getting people telling me "hey you know those are swimbait hooks right?" and I'd reply "well i've never tried em for that but they sure work well for fishing a craw!"
great video very informative
Thanks Andre
I use my swimbait hooks just like that for other baits also the rage craw with a paycheck punch skirt is a great way to use this rig! :)
I felt the same way about a jig a few years ago. Then I decided to put my head down and only fish a jig. It's all I took to the lake with me. In my mind it was a struggle but as I started to get bites and land fish I became addicted.
o nice, haha i kinda noticed that cuz u catch like a couple 5 pounders and ur like ehh decent fish. i would love to catch a couple 5 pounders lol great vids man! i subbed the other day and ima go check out bass resource right now
Gene, 2 questions 1 fishing the prespawn on lake Fork and the fish are keyed in on crawdads so this should work right? And 2 once the bait hits the bottom do u work it back to the boat or reel in and throw again? Thanks man!
Yes it is, but I've caught fish using this rig on Guntersville, Pickwick, Kentucky Lake, Oconee, Jackson, Clarks Hill, Murray, Russell, Hartwell, and many small public lakes around the Southeast. That stocked lake is perfect for making instructional videos because it saves me a lot of time and I've never hidden the fact that it is better than any lake Bill Dance ever fished.
Hey i LOVE all of your videos! they help me out so much! i am involved in Bass recorse a little and it helps alot. I want your opinion on how to fish a wacky rig. Please??
wow great video, i have some keel weighted hooks however they don't have the twist spring at the tip to make it easier to put a new plastic on... what are some tips to easily put a new plastic on after the hooks been tied because if you try to hook a new plastic on you would have to do it like a weedless texas rigged bait however that weight gets in the way and youll ruin your new bait if you pull it through. this confuses me, maybe a video to explain? thanks.
It works with any soft plastic.
I haven't found one that I can't use it with. Even the Anaconda looks awesome falling on one.
I heard you say you prefer a space monkey??? Sounds interesting. I just started watching videos. I went out and spent $150.00 on different jerks,, football jigs Rap jigs grubs w/crawdad trailers and so on. Went out today super exited, the water is still 44 degrees and super windy. One fish on my normal go to's Drop shot on a Robo Margaritamadness. The pole was just sitting while i was messing with new baits and the wind. There are lots of fish I can find, but no luck. I hope i'm not stuck with flukes and pink worms for the rest of my life. I really hope when I go back out Monday less wind and I can try some of your tips for cold water fishing. My fishing buddies only use top water and drop shot. I would love to be able to catch fis this time of the year. I live in So Cal. Pyramid lake is huge and full of fish. I hope I don't have to wait another month or two before Ican catch some fish again. Not sure If you or someone watching could help me. Great job! I would rather watch these vidioes than TV. Thanks buddy. I hope you could respond with an email...Red Wrangler
Gene, would you recommend pitching (flipping) this? With the more ideal horizontal fall, I wonder if it might be a better presentation than a standard Trig soft plastic for pitching.
Great Video as Always Dawg!..What did you have for breakfast *Flap-jacks, Bacon & eggs*?
Either way will be just fine. It just depends on how the fish want it so try both.
I don't know what to say. In the 20 plus years that I've been fishing I've only broken a hook twice. The first time was because I tried to modify it by bending it and it broke on a hookset and the other time was after catching about 100 fish on the same jig.
U should do a video on telling the difference between male and female bass
Also, the hooks I use are the Gamakatsu Weighted Superline SPR-Lock hooks.
This is the first time I've seen anyone use these hooks on CZcams. I use them all the time for all my worms cause my local ponds and canals are thick hydrania with limited bank access needing a little cast to get out and everything else I try doesn't come back cause the weight gets caught. In the grass or it comes back with so much grass the bait is worthless during retrieve.
I don't think I've ever seen the Big Bopper. My local stores stopped carrying Netbait products two years ago.
can you do both? i am new to trick worm and senkos. im trying to make up a list for my parents to buy me for christmas. could you review both of them and show the advanteges to both and the disadvantages to both in a seperate video?
thanks, GOD BLESS
Only a week til 2018 were still here!
2018 now
The hook was designed after a weighted swimbait hook so I shouldn't be a problem using it with a fluke.
Hey, do you keep a baitcaster/rod setup for with 15lb. test for this light craw/senko rig? It seems like light enough a rig to throw on a spinning reel, so I'm guessing that you just prefer baitcasting.
That's why I don't use the ones without the screw keeper. The ones that are just molded onto a Wide Gap hook suck. First of all the wide gap hook has a lousy hookset. Had I been using one in this video I guarantee that I would have missed that fish on that type hook set. Second of all the fact that there is no other option but to cut the line in order to put a new plastic on and then retie. I tossed all of the ones I used to have in the trash.
Gene if don't have any keel weighted hooks. Do you thing the bell sinker added to the hook would work. I'm referencing what you showed in your Fluke video.
the little pinch on hook weights work best as back up weights but I guess a bell sinker would work ok.
Cheers. Thanks Gene.
Great videos. What model moaner hook do you use for the rage rig? I know you said a 4/0 but is there a #? Thankds
Fish this rig often with a VMC swim bait hook. Works great
It's called Richmond Mill Lake in Laurel Hill, North Carolina. I travel up there to guide when the company who owns it calls me.
