After copyright debates regarding this video, Nikitaventures Music who claims to own the content of this performance featuring @Dr Koncerthuset (Danish National Symphony Orchestra), has decided that this video is not an appropriate project using Fair Use. This is despite the 20+ hours of work and over 500% increase of added commentary and education when compared to the original video. They have given me a final notice to cancel my appeal on their claims (admitting that this video is not Fair Use) and then the video can remain on CZcams. I will not submit to this. As a result, this video will be taken down on June 12, 2024 and my channel will receive another strike.
I am a one-woman "team" and have a faint voice in CZcams's copyright dispute process as well as copyright owners. If you'd like to support, I've created a Google Form asking everyone to add their name as signatures as a way to support this Masterclass Video as Fair Use. It will also show that you appreciate the value of this video and the music education on the channel. Thank you in advance for your support.

Just a quick thought: Are they able to prove to you that they are indeed the publisher for that Danish Radio Production? Because there are a lot of bad actors out there that claim a lot of Videos despite not being the rightful owner of the copyright. Just a couple of weeks ago I was notified of claims against videos where a malicious actor claimed copyright to several music pieces while both the publisher for and the creator of the music had no idea this was going on and were actually quite furious that this was happening at all.
I signed the form, thank you!!!đđđ©
Signed and submitted. I have seen reaction videos where I thought the limits of Fair Use were being tested. This presentation is not among those, and I found it highly educational in relation to the music performed here. The fact that you haven't seen the movie made no difference. Sincere thanks, Jess!
Done.
Someone once pointed out that the wah wah lady was wearing revolver earrings. I love that
Oh so she is!!!
When Christine Nonbo Andersen, the soprano, sang this piece, she became instantly world famous. Her voice is amazing, and she now performs the world over.
I saw an interview where she said that this was actually her first performance with the Danish NSO.
Ms. Andersen has an amazing voice. The original was sung by Edda Dell'Orso, whose voice is also stunning.
@@ugaladh Yes, and she's very humble in the video and describes the emails she gets from fans around the world. I think how people reacted to her singing, took her by surprise. When I first saw and heard this video, I saw and heard an angel in the heavens. It hit me that hard.
Ennio Morricone (1928-2020) and Sergio Leone (1929-1989) went to School together, they've known each other and were Friends their whole Life.
Morricone also composed classical Pieces besides approx. 500 Film- and Theaterscores...
He was THE Pioneer of using unconventional Instruments/Noises in Filmscores, like E-Guitar, whistling, Harmonica, Ocarina, Recorder etc.
The Untouchables' score was amazing.
After watching 2000 reaction videos I think this "girl" is the first reactionist who actually knows what she's talking about. Excellent!
Can I ask why you have the word girl in inverted commas?
@@catherinemoran9037I guess because she rather seems to be a woman than a girl? đ
@svenlima you should definitely watch Elisabeth Zharoffâs reaction too, then every possible analysis should be complete⊠nothing more to add. đ
The âwah wah â lady is Tuva Semmingsen, a mezzo with an incredible voice, which is definitely not on display in this piece, but she does feature prominately in many other Danish National Orchestra productions.
Tuva is an amazing singer.
the singers are Swedish & Norwegian.......THE CONDUCTOR IS AMERICA & has conducted all over the world.
She is great singing Who Wants to Live Forever
She was great - where can we see more?
@@user-qj6fk9px8l The soprano is danish.
Im so damn proud of our NSO, they are so insanely talented and in their catalogue are tons of movie and video game scores.. so so good
Should be!
The effect on the long note from the flute in the beginning is not a vibrato. Itâs called flutter tongue. Itâs basically a rolling R while holding the note. Often used on brass instruments.
I was lucky enough the be in the audience of the very last concerto of Maestro Ennio Morricone in Lucca, Italy in July 2019, since he passed an year later. To hear this music and many others directly from the baton of the Maestro himself and his orchestra was a mystic experience. Best concert I've ever attended to.
Hard not to get a bit teary hearing this music now, grew up with these movies and Ennio's amazing music (The Mission).. One of the best.
Props for giving so much info on an epic movie and an epic performance †Ennio Moricone... A genius â€
Nobody answered your question, so as a pianist, I'll try to explain.
There's actually two simili : ./. and .//.
The first one is used to repeat one bar and is place in the middle of the bar after the one you are supposed to repeat.
The second one is used to repeat two bars at once and is placed on the seperation between the next two bars.
Gosh, that's where images are helpful ^^ great reaction of a great composer
Incredibly helpful, thank you!
â@@jessicasopranonotesYour character description didn't match the trailer. The trailer said Tuco is the BAD and Angel Eyes is the UGLY!! âźïž
đđ Yes! I was almost afraid to come to the comments. I wanted to explain that but wasn't sure how I was going to say it without it being a long, unwieldy paragraph. @fabricepellet9105 said what I wanted to say, probably better than I could have said it.
- Trombone player and bass guitar player with lots of experience with repetitive parts, lol, but haven't played either in years.
I was happy to see the 33 minute length for this. Kinda bummed, though, that all 33 went by so fast. Thanks, Jess.
Ecstasy of Gold gives me chills every time. Such a great piece.
You want that gold, huh? đ
You get the impression these performers are enjoying themselves immensely. The make it seem like it's playtime for them. That applies especially for Tuva.
A sister who got it
And the pistol earrings just adds to it.
@@hhound4283as does the hanging man and Blondie at the end of the performance
đšđŠ The DNSO has over 70 Choir members and over 100 Musicians !
They often hold outdoor concerts in summer with well known invited guests !
One of these, you should react to, is the 2006 concert with Procol Harum ! Best song suggestion is "A whiter shade of pale" !
P.S. notice that the Soprano (Christine) was without a 'close' mic ! đšđŠ
Procol Harum - A Whiter Shade of Pale, live in Denmark 2006: czcams.com/video/St6jyEFe5WM/video.html
Regarding the 'close' mic - I am not certain what specifically a 'close' mic is, but following 26:41 we can see that she has a mic by her ear. Especially the shadow is clearly seen. That mic seems quite close to me, but I am not familiar enough with the subject to determine if that is considered a 'close' mic.
The wind instrument at the beginning is a recorder., like in baroque music.. The second section is titled 'The Ecstacy' of Gold'
The other wind instrument is an ocarina, it is a type of vessel flute.
I used to think the recorder was just for torturing children in music class, but surprisingly it can actually sound good.
@@Valjean666dk I played the recorder in grade school. It can sound quite lilting and ethereal. I learned to play it quite well. I wanted to learn the violin, but my mother knew a violin would require many years of lessons and practice and upgrades, and we were poor. The recorder was my consolation instrument....and the school provided it at no charge :)
I play a recorder at a small amateur orchestra (mostly baroque music for recorders and strings) and when I saw the questions in this analysis I tried to replicate the vibrato sound. We normally play with no vibrato at all so this might be why I could not do much. But the only way I could do something resembling that huge vibrato like that guy did on the last high note was by fluttering my tongue. Not sure if that was how he did it or if he can control just his breath to that degree.
In dutch a "recorder" is called blokfluit don't ask me why.
Jess, I've watched dozens of reactions to this piece, and I have NEVER seen anyone put as much analysis into this as you did. I learned SO MUCH MORE because of that, and I now appreciate this piece more than before. Thanks for sharing your incredible knowledge of the craft.
Please do watch the movie. It's the third in a trilogy known as the dollars trilogy. 1. A fistful of Dollars. 2. For a Few Dollars More. 3. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
A couple of years after the final movie was released, the director, Sergio Leone, released what is widely hailed as his masterpiece, Once Upon a Time in the West. The music in that movie, as well as the cinematography, storytelling, and acting performances, make it a longtime favorite for people of all generations. You will most likely find a genre you never knew you needed.
Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
Happy to hear you enjoyed the video! I do look forward to someday watching the entire trilogy đ€
Jess, I hope you watch "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly". You probably won't like the violence in it, but the acting and the script in the Clint Eastwood movies are wonderful, imho.
The best westerns every made are those by Sergio Leone. And the best of them is probably Once Upon a Time in the West.
@@Nikioko Completely agree with you!
The Orchestration is absolutely Brilliant here. Incredible. Also My hat is off to the Audio Engineers'. Mic Placement , Mixing, Dynamic Range and Timbre on all the instruments' is nothing short of phenomenal, There's a recorder type wood flute and an ocarina playing lead lines in there too. Slap Stick which can grab your fingers sounding like a whip.(Nice Touch) Electric Harmonica and vocal's are mixed on the wah-wah. When I played MT as a Percussionist if I had a repetitive part that repeated over and over I would just notate the score with a repeat number and count it out. Saved alot of ink. Bolero was the same except you needed the entire score there because of the dynamic markings parts notation you needed to follow. I retired before IPADS became a thing and usually had two books with clothes pins and a wire in front of me with hanging score sheets. Watching the conductor on a small TV monitor was loads of fun too while in an isolation booth or under the stage lol
Anyway I digress...This orchestra is one of the best I've heard and can play everything from serious Classical, Movie Themes to games and cartoon music. Good reaction to a really super talented group of musicians. Oh One more thing that helped me a lot was something I called the " Go Machine" which produced a click track that we played too. It had many counter functions besides producing a click track . You always could set it to keep track of every time a repetitive beat came around to the first beat of a measure. You always knew where you were as too how any times you played it . It also kept track of the line numbers in the score. Less panic that way đ
when an extraordinary piece of music meets an extraordinary orchestra magic happens
I have seen this piece reviewed by different reactors. It is becoming one of my favorites. I am someone who plays viola for different ensembles and film music is becoming my favorite genre to play. First of all I applaud your analysis of the orchestra. You speak with knowledge that some other reactors have not displayed. It is wonderful.
I am like you, have only seen images and a scattering of scenes from this movie so I have never fully understand the plot. I enjoy the fact that you talked the plot. As I was listening to the plot I realize the soprano theme is for the final character----the GOLD. It is a beautiful siren song that calls to them. The fact it disappears into the ensemble is a symbol that the quest gets lost in the detours they take to get to it. It gets lost in the fights and the noise that happens on the quest.
Than you for the great reaction and analysis.
Thank you for your compliments and your insights. I will have to remember the Gold theme whenever I get a chance to watch the trilogy.
At this concert, the themes for "A Fist Full Of Dollars" and "For A Few Dollars More." Both of them are great pieces.
Love this performance, never tire of it.
Jess' reaction channel deserves a lot more subscribers! She reminds me of the art historian Ernest Gombrich who said to a student of painting: "Actually, I see a little more."
I agree! She is to music what Sister Wendy was to art......
Gombrich. A name from a 51 year old past when I was studying art at school. Being given The Story of Art to read was a substitute for the teacher teaching art history.
I'm 69 and I still have Gombrich's Story of Art from high school
I normally hate it when reactors interrupt for too long or too much, but that you went and checked out the trailer and shared it with us was actually a pretty good move. Made me want to watch that movie again.
God I love this rendition.
Itâs my favorite, even including the arrangements/versions I played in high school and college.
When Sergio and Ennio started working together, they realized that they were schoolmates.
2 geniuses who changed their genres forever.
You should watch the movie. It is epic. This music is some of the cleverest, best written music of all time.
The movie and the music is a perfect fit.
Morricone was king of matching the music with the film in a way that was exciting, appropriate and just genuinely good music in and of itself. Genius.
Excellent review and analysis! I found it very interesting! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The last 8 mins of this movie are some of the greatest that have ever been filmed
Thank you so much. I have watched this video at least 200 times. You have pointed out things I never noticed.
That was one of the best reactions Iâve witnessed. Too many mightâve written this off as their grandfathers western. But you marveled at the symphonic elements to make such a production. I loved it!
You got to see this film. So good. One of the best films ever made.
Sergio Leone
check out patricia janeckova singing 'ecstasy of gold' from the same film & also her version of, 'once upon a time in the west', another spaghetti western, when she was 12!! you are probably aware that patricia died last october from breast cancer aged 25!
you should also listen to her brilliant rendition of, 'quel guardo il cavaliere', which she recorded just before she was diagnosed with cancer!!
Great analysis as always! To answer your question around the 19:45 mark regarding similes (or just repeats as they are also commonly called), what you showed on screen means repeat the previous one measure. Itâs a shorthand to save space on the page, and should be treated as if the preceding measure was written again. (i.e. same notes, rhythms, articulations, markings, etc)
There is a separate symbol to repeat the previous two measures like you referred to. However, in the example you showed on screen you would only repeat the one measure. (you can google âmusic notation 2 bar repeatâ if youâre curious)
(Source: Iâm a percussionist/drummer/composer/engraver)
Thank you!!
Glad that I'm not the only one who didn't know what an ocarina is. The lovely wind instrument solo in the Ectasy of Gold section is an English horn, a double reed instrument with a lower range than an oboe and a higher range than a bassoon, easily identified by the curve between the reed and the instrument. The other unidentified instrument is part of the percussion section, and is known as the chimes, more popularly known as tubular bells (as in Michael Oldfield). Also, check out Tuva's singing in the other spaghetti western pieces by the DNSO.
When Segio Leone (The Director) was making his movies, the Music was already written and finaly recorded by Enio. Then Sergio plays the music on set when they where filming the scenes. This makes some scenes much more intense also for the actors when they where acting so they get in a special mood which helps to create a huge immersion for the audience when they see the the movie in cinemas. This is one technic which make Sergio Leones Films so special. He only made 10 films. Everyone is a masterpiece. The Good, the Bad & the Ugly is the third film of the so called Dollar Trilogy. (A Fistful of Dollars, A few Dollars more, The Good, The Bad & The Ugly)
Great reaction. This movie is and always has been my favorite movie. I wish you did movie reactions. I still get emotional when I hear the music from this film. Ennio was the Master. Thank you.
I have watched reaction videos many times on this song and you have done it the BEST using the trailer. I watched this in the theaters when I was a young man in the 60s and I am watching it now as a man in my 70s as an old man Thank you
Sorry to say dear but your general cultural knowledge canât be complete unless you watch these Leone/Clint few movies . It s a must do in a left time and the better the sooner. Please start now.
Morriconeâs music are always exquisite in these spaghetti western movies and is much part of the whole films.
No one's explanations and analyses has come close to yours. BRAVA!!!!!!
Wow, thank you!
A lot of people are impressed, but you are the 1st i have seen really appreciate the music deep into your soul.
The only way I can express the feeling I got when I saw you enjoying the music, not what you are saying but your body language and face expression.
Thanks from a proud Dane!
Love this comment, thank you!
Yes the soprano there at the mezzanine ,give a voice cames from unknow and far away like in the movie . What a beautiful interpretation i will never forget .
Thank you for your breakdown and analysis of this piece, I've seen it multiple times before, and you opened my eyes and ears to aspects that I hadn't noticed before.
My pleasure!
I absolutely love your search for understanding of the music and arrangement by going back to the trailer of the original movie. So much better than the reactors I have gone to to keep my appreciation of Enrico Marconi's masterpiece alive in me. It refreshed your own refreshed sample. Please continue the presenting of the original from the cover
Weel, I did it again. This song is going to play in my head for at least a day. My opinion is that this is Morricone done right, not just the a bit budget restricted soundtrack in the movie. My hat's off to the Danish National Symphony orchestra.
Only a day, I canât stop watching it, itâs perfect in every possible way.
Well Done. I have watched this performance some 50 times. Many are reactions. By far your reaction taught me many things. Many blessings and good luck to you.
You have to watch the movie! It's a masterpiece. And you gonna enjoy the music even more if you know the story it enhances.
As a big fan of the movies and the music, I've watched these movies hundred of times, and
I can tell that this version performed by the Danish National Symphony Orchestra,
is one of the most accurate and close to the original from the movie.
They've managed to add all the small sounds and unusual instruments to make it true to the original.
This one is a classic but my favorite is 'For a few dollars more'.
Chill bumps over and over !
Ennio Morricone Ăš un genio
Reinforces the GENIUS that was Ennio Morricone â€â€
Really nice, a great reaction, thanks ! It made me a bit nostalgic because I watched this Sergio Leone's movie for the first time thirty years ago.... The soprano's vocalises and the whistles are just insane. Morricone composed the most epic music, which seems sometimes quite simple in the movie, but actually is not, of course.
What you said about the responsability of the drummer and the flutist made me think about the short flute solo introducing Casta diva aria in Bellini's Norma. And also about the bass drum at the beginning of Also sprach Zarathustra by Richard Strauss. Great analysis, really !
PS. Ennio Morricone composed many other outstanding melodies, often with a more operatic and classic sound. So it would be a pleasure hearing your reaction to two of his themes..
Here'to you, performed by Joan Baez for the soundtrack of Sacco and Vanzetti in 1971.
And Nella fantasia, sung by Amira Willighagen in 2016 to the tune of the soundtrack of the movie The Mission.
czcams.com/video/2RGrz1mZve8/video.html look at Ennio Morricone play an direct his music
This was filmed in Spain. The cemetery was starting to crumble and they decided to redo it as it was in the movie. One of the greatest Spaghetti Westerns ever made.
Well, I just fell in love with a new channel. I paused this one to find one of you singing. Lady, that voice is a weapon! As a, lets say, neurospicy individual, the math of music is always very soothing to me, but your tone and projection was like a physical blanket of peace big and strong enough to wrap my near two meters entirely. Opera gets me down in the soul bits sometimes and you have got the magic.
edit: also, I'm a big enough man to say this piece makes me shed actual tears. Ennio is a story teller; no doubt.
Excellent review, love Tuva and Christine.
you might wanna react to a special kind of performance of the 2nd song of the video "L'estasi dell'Oro" (Ecstasy of Gold).... at an open air concert in venice, italy in 2007... the COMPOSER arranged and CONDUCTED this performance.... awesome choir & solo singer... the best version in my opinion....
I really like to watch your a face and your reactions to the different instruments and singers. A mirror of your emotions in that special moment. Your explanations were very interesting. Thank you.
thanks for the great reaction and analysis. Just to mention: the duo Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone created a couple of movies, some gained a wolrdwide recognition. Interesting: some scenes in their movies were shot AFTER the score was created, I.e. in Once apon a time in the west, it becomes really visible. My most remembered Morricone soundtrack was My Name is Nobody. The Wild Horde theme is taken afaik from the Valkures Theme, but rerendered for Italo Western. Unfortunately the film score is a bit cut, but i recommend the audio version.
The "flute" is actually a Recorder. Don't know how it works in the US, but here in the UK, LOTS of kids get taught (or used to) to play recorder at primary school, because it's relatively easy and cheap for parents to buy. You should definitely watch The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. It's a superb exercise in stylish movie making, and so iconic in it's day that people my age find it really jarring when people your age say they've never seen it. Another thing you might like (it'd make a good reaction video too) is the cover of this theme by The Ukulele Orchestra Of Great Britain. Yes, that's what I said, and yes, it's a real and very wonderful thing...đ
Seconded, for the Ukulele Orchestra .
Concur on the Uke Orchestra and add the Spaghetti Western Orchestra to the list.
Also, a Recorder (learned it in Music in grade school here in the US back in the '70s) is just a variation of Baroque Flute, as the Ocarina is known as a Sweet Potato commonly.
In dutch a "recorder" is called blokfluit don't ask me why.
Also,the Trinity Films,are worth
a view,same Director, I think đ€
A recorder is a flute. A fipple flute, to be precise.
You should do a "First Time Watching Reaction" for all four Spaghetti Westerns, "A Fistful of Dollars", "For a Few Dollars More", "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" and "Once Upon a Time In the West". All were scored and directed by Ennio Morricone. I would love to see your "reaction" to the MUSIC and how it works with the scenes in each of the movies.
Thank you. Your comments were amazing. We need to remember that this was a spaghetti western - that equals no money. I have been amazed at the intricacy of musical intimacy that was created on a very (no really no money) low budget film. The Danish National Symphony Orchestra just blows it away. Wah, Wah - where does that whistle come from. And the soprano is amazing. The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly was and is the epitome of production for a western.
This is the best review I have seen of this music, this lady knows her stuff and held my interest all th way through. Now review the same orchestra doing the Wonder Woman theme.
WOW -- what a fabulous, informed reaction. Spectacular, Jess. By far the best response I've seen to this performance. You certainly provide a masterclass analysis!
Wow, thank you kindly! Glad you enjoyed the video đ
Thank you Jess!! I haven't been to your channel for a while but I'm very happy to be back!! You are still grrrrrrrrrrrrreat!!!!
Welcome back and thank you very much!
Excellent work!
DNSO is part of DR - the first Danish radio- and television station, going back to the 1920s. It's their orchestra and at the same time it's our national symphony orchestra. DR is funded via TV licence and is a public station entity. They have several choirs, like boys, girls and the ones you see here. They also have a big band and others.
*Was* funded by TV license.
Pr. 2022 the TV license was phased out and DR has since then been funded via taxes.
So if you are still paying for the old TV license (medielicens) then you are being scammed.
A great reaction. Usually when I view one of these, I''ll fast forward through the reactor's commentary. Yours was different in that it was interesting, educational without being pedantic and thoroughly enjoyable.
Thank you Soprano Notes, I agree, incredible performance by the conductor (I think I'll have to go back and study her some more!).
This is now officially my favorite video review you did. So much information you gathered!
I felt the soprano ladies voice was 'just' another instrument and didn't have to stand out volume wise, but to give her the noticabillity this instrument deserved she was put away from all other. I may be completely wrong, it just made sense to me.
Always enjoy watching your video's. Sometimes multiple tumes.
Have always loved this!
Nice touch, showing the trailer. Thanks.đ
I have watched tons of reactions to this video because I am Danish and it is the Danish National Symphony Orchestra performing live. I have watched countless of other reactions to other music. But you reaction sky rokects to heaven. It is so good that you deserve millions to watch it. You analyze the instruments, the singers, the conductor and you compare it to the movie. This is the best reaction vidieo I have EVER seen
A big compliment, thank you! âșïž
Arguably one of the best films ever made.
The Danish National Symphony does quite a few theme nights for prominent and popular franchises, including Star Wars, in which they even do the original ending "YUB NUB" Ewok song, that got replaced when Lucas added all the CGI to the original trilogy. But they also covered The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, The Godfather, the Bond films and many more, so definitely check out more of their videos.
The trailer mixes up the bad and the ugly.... Ee-lie (long e-l-long i) Eli Wallach was also in The Magnificent 7. I love that you actually got technical in the analysis. I'm not a muscian, but I know what I like and sometimes it's nice to know the why you like something.
Love you Jess brains and beauty. Hoping you'll do another Rush reaction. Loved the 2 you've done.
I am working with another musician to put together my next RUSH reaction. It will take a bit of time since sound engineering is a big part of the final video process. But I look forward to when i can begin the project đ
Just saw them last weekend at the fabulous DR Konserthus preforming X Games with Eivor as guest vocalist. Sarah Hicks the conductoris is American. The Danish National Symphony orchestra and Choir rated as the nr #1 Symphony Orchestra last year. Top level, Going again in August for The Hollywood film Soundtrack performance.
These themed concerts by the DNSO are great, been following them for years, alas a lot of their music is blocked here in Belgium (copyright) and a VPN is needed here. DRK had the full concerts on their website and I got to see and hear them there, would love to go to one of their concerts.
Tuva (wah wah lady) is a wonderful singer, and she sings a lot of jazz too as well as the classical pieces.
DRK/DNSO is a wonderful rabbit hole to disappear down :)
Now I'm awaiting my next live concert in Maastricht with André Rieu and his Straus Orchestra in July
Ennio Morricone was probably the best film music composer ever, who unfortunately received only late accolade with the Oscar for his score for The Hateful Eight.
Great reaction đ
Have this record. My dad bought the album when the movie came out. Still whistling the main theme.
For the simile question: It's called a measure-repeat or bar-repeat and this shows to repeat the previous notated bar. F.e. two slashes // in the sign (would be written between 2 bars) refers to the last two notated bars.
Ennio Morricone was THE giant among giants. I grew up on these soundtracks. That music, it stays with you forever. The movies too! I saw them on afternoon TV and those were violents! đ And the theme from "Once Upon a Time in the West" would make me cry every time as a kid. Still does!
They also do the theme to "Once upon a time in the west", the woman that does the Wa Wa parts in this does the main vocal in it.
Your reaction was beautiful. Keep it up.
Thank you! Will do!
Danish National Symphony Orchestra.
is world class they did several movie game theme etc concerts cheers from Denmark
Respect. Greates job!!!
The second part, L'estasi del oro, is a perfect cannon and the best way to wake up in the morning. The oboe is like nature coming to life, then the constant grow of harmonics is like a constant injection of energy. This truly is a peerless creation.
Vibrato on a recorder can also be done (you can see it in the video) by opening and closing a hole (AT LEAST two holes down from the note you are actually playing) rapidly. You can see the recorder player do this with a finger at the bottom of it (safe distance from the note he is playing).
Definitely one of the most iconic theme songs in movie history, and the orchestra's performance is amazing.
The "hanged man" is a major part of the Movie even though its seen in Trailer.
The danish national Symphony Orchestra. have made several theme Nights where they play parts of famous Movies and as you can guess this from their Western Theme, they have also made Sci-fi, Fantasy, Agent Nights and a lot more.
Fun fact, This is actually two songs from the Movie, at 26:06 is called "the esctacy of Gold", and Metallica starts all their Concerts with that Song, as they go on stage. This is because James Hetfeld is a huge Western fan.

Absolutely loved your reaction to, and analysis of, this wonderful film score by the great Ennio Morricone. One small note, Eli name is pronounced with a long E. Love your stuff, keep up the great work !! Be well.
