League of Legends esports has now been a thing for over a decade. With time the game has improved and tournaments and events are now over all better. However, Riot Games stays true to their roots and every once in a while mistakes happen. From computer issues, to the game just now working, today we take a look at some of more interesting technical difficulties at esports events.

Start using Porofessor and maybe you'll be on stage playing a never ending esports match too! link.overwolf.com/porofessor-nicolai
Also, I'm currently away from my usual set up so apologies for the different sounding audio.
Will be back to normal next month!
wish it could work for mac
Title makes no sense
@@dragogaming5164 it does. The game that was delayed, was eventually counted as a victory without actually ending. It NEVER ended.
I love playing against folks that use porofessor. They come into games acting overconfident seeing what its labeled me as I crush them every time. It really is hilarious to watch. Just two nights ago, had a nasus telling his team in all chat it was an easy win because I was a feeding support. Ended the game in a victory with hiugher KDA than him, most damage in the game, and a 14 minute victory. So please, keep using porofessor.
do pros use porofessor in pro games?
Riot: We’ll be refunding your tickets
The crowd: aww
Riot: And add $25 in riot points
The crowd: YEAH
That's because in the US, Americans sort of just expect you to refund things when things go poorly. Like seriously, there's an entire website dedicated to customers expecting free shit just because one tiny insignificant detail is wrong on their order. No, you don't get a refund on your dinner just because your bag is the wrong shade of green.
So Riot announcing refunding tickets was just the crowd going "oh wow, you want a cookie with that shit? Am I supposed to be impressed?"
@@jyashin as a muslim when i order chicken nuggets and get pork chops i expect a refund .......thats not a small shade of green
thats the difference between going to heaven and hell to me
@@wahabalrefai4987 yeah thats because its different, a chicken nugget and pork chops are different, the other person was describing entitled people wanting to get something for free and not just a refund. I personally dealt with people wanting to get a gift card because they wanted the burger without pickles without telling me to remove it. The thing you described and what the other person said are 2 different situations.
I mean when youve sat throught multiple issues in hope to see the competition finish "refunding your tickets" is the nail in the coffin cementing that your left on a clifhanger and you cant watch the rest of thrle competition in person (at least not that day, with the possibility of not at all.) 😅
Riot points are a gun bonus for people who willingly sat through tech issues.
@@jyashin Well tbf most people would want a refund after those matches if they spent more time watching them fix a tech problem than actually playing the game.
the chair one is understandable
if you lose a game just remember that the other team has just better gaming chair 👍
Gaming chair diff do be real...
Bruh ima be using this from now on every time I win.. "Gaming chair diff"
i'm playing on my bed, keyboard / mouse/mousepad on my bed, i'm doing alright ♥
Gaming couch diff
gaming beanbag diff. Furniture scrubs
Uncomfortable chair is absolutely valid. Would not be able to focus, or would feel back pain due to that
Same with the numb feet one, it is distracting and can lead to Trombrosis
Imagine playing Final, your chair is too low and you can't raise it up
Agreed
I'm used to it. Got a shitty high dining room table, with no leg room so I'm a bit further away from the keyboard. As long as I get up after a game it's no issue.
Sir I sit on a plastic chair and have one of my feet up the table playing league for years.
For context; Heng actually was really sick. Reports after the game said that he played with a very bad flu
yeah riiiiiiiiiight...
@@celeste4034 I mean just google "heng ill on stage". With that u should find a Dexerto article about the situation, which contains a bit more information and some twitter posts about the situation.
@@celeste4034 He looked like he was nauseous imo. When the stakes are high while you're sick it can make you feel a lot worse. Stress not good while sick. Like I'm sure it was influenced by what just happened to some degree but dude looked like he seriously was suppressing the urge to puke there when the pause hit
Booo hooo Michael Jordan played with the flu triple g fought with the flu in his boxing match😂 gamers got no excuse
@@masoudshairzadeh6820no one cares about what one guy did in another game lol
2:55 I like how nobody cheered for getting ticket refund but hearing they get 25 dollars worth of Riotpoints they go crazy. Crowd full of gamers.
I bet the tickets cost way more than $25 as well lmao
@@stevenglikin3219 not in those days. The tickets were like 20-40$
Oh man… I can’t believe the Internet would go out in a pro match 😭 they should’ve done a friendly irl match where the pros just attack each other with puffy gloves on 🥊
That was way, WAY back in the day. Riot didn't have studios back then. No dedicated local area connections specifically for 5v5 with referees, pause ability, and chronobreak.
But I'm surprised the video didn't mention that one LCS game where an entire team had to play from home because of Covid, and then a lightning storm cut off their entire district's power.
i wouldve paid to watch that
@@jyashin Counter Strike 1.6 tournament play offline via LAN server connection , why cant they do the same?
@@s0meRand0m129 dunno
@@s0meRand0m129Probably too incompetent to do a LAN server, seeing how many unfixed and swept under the rug bugs there are. It’s so bad, they fine their pro players for ACCIDENTALLY doing an exploit.
"We will refund your tickets"
😐
"And you will also receive $25 in Riot Points"
😜🎉
XD
not me literally typing a similar thing on discord using the same emojis and then finding this comment, my man 🤝
way back then it was probably like 10$ for a ticket, spent more money on the merch and the drive down there
I'm laughing so much but we have to account how long ago this was. Things were probably A LOT cheaper.
Yo say what you want about gamers but LoL crowds are a vibe lmao. When the guy announced the $25 RP for the canceled venue that was the exact reaction I hoped for
I cannot understand. Tournament matches in virtually all games are played offline, on a local network that only the players and the moderators are connected to. The match can then be proxied out onto the Internet for remote spectators, but the number of external spectators has no effect on the local network. So what the hell did Riot mess up so terribly about their infrastructure than they had a tournament match crash? Did they seriously run a local in-person tournament online over the Internet? Were they so ignorant and irresponsible?
There game probably needs to get certain assets from the server it's hosted on. I thought the same thing. That LAN would make way more sense.
of course this happens in south american league
Orgullo peruano
So much shit happening in south american esport scene, this, valorant disrespect by crowd, and cheating on a dota 2major both by players and crowd. South america is wild but currently not fit for pro tournaments. Hope things change for the better there. Oh , and also players being robbed in broad daylight.
love how the video just ends abruptly
Too be fair, in hockey, if your stick is messed up you signal the coach to grab you another stick. He tosses it and you skate by and your good to go like a NASCAR pit stop. I know esports is gaming but the gamers should have excess equipment on standby instead of having to use someone else’s setup or sit in someone else’s chair. The players should be able to signal the coach and have a new chair swiftly exchanged.
Agreed, it's all in good fun making fun of pro gamers because of the stigma of any sort of physical or mental discomfort is supposedly nothing compared to other sports (which I totally don't agree with), but then you do lack the same equal standards given.
I'd probs shit myself in stress sitting at a computer that's not my own infront of an audience, let alone if I made a mistake that could cost my whole team the tournament. I'd rather wanna do a physical activity which is more likely to exhaust my brain so I don't overthink the whole situation and also numb me from minor discomforts.
When the Spanish Superliga did an offline day of competition, they came to my city in one occasion but this day became the "SuperPausa Naranja" due to games constantly being delayed and paused which was weird because the first game happened without any hiccups. But the rest, holy shit, the last one was scheduled for 18:00 iirc but was postponed into another day due to this issue. I remember the last game that happened ended up at like near 22:00. And this was in 2018 so it wasn't in the beginning of League of Legends' esports
Bugsplat OMG, such a good times
Nostalgic, but I dont miss it! lol
The CLG EU vs WE was pure robbery, mainly because CLG EU was winning hard in all the games that got affected, and in the final one they lost so they got eliminated. This was a worlds, not an LCS playoff
actually post mistake depression or guilt is a genuine phenomenon
yeah, it's called feeling guilty, mr psychologist
Longest match i had was 2 and a half hours back in season 3. i was the game changer on the team and was top lane lulu with a broken attack speed build with all attackspeed runes at that time. my team was raging all match against me for not playing the way they wanted even tho i was beyond too outmatched against my top lane enemy champion i refused to talk back since i believed they would all report me. After 40 minutes of hearing them rage at me i held back and just guarded my turret leaving them to deal with a 4v5. the match kept going and around 80 minutes into it everyone was fully built but evenly matched and my team started raging at each other and the enemy team was doing the same thing and when we hit the 2 hour mark i finally responded to them and said "okay i think ill end it now". over the last 30 minutes i took every turret 1 by 1 untill i took the whole base. After it was over i didnt get reported but my teamates did by the enemy team. The enemy team honored me and 2 had apoligized for what they were reading in chat. btw the build was 2 phantom dancers, wits end, bork, bloodthirster, and runans. This was before the massive item and runes reworks.
I think during T1’s last game vs KT, the game was paused because Keri’s was feeling unwell
*Employee:* "Sry boss I can't work."
*Boss:* "Why not? Is something wrong?"
*Employee:* "This chair is so f* uncomfortable."
You clearly have no desk job, that would be a fair complaint. Try working 8 hours+ every day in an awful chair.
@@SpiceAndFox yea man
a good chair can make a difference when you are working 8 hours on a desk
Here where I'm living it can absolutely be a valid reason for a workplace lawsuit
Man.
You have no fucking clue what a shit chair can do to you for a long ass while.
Say what you want about manning up- ain't no level of manning up is worth the years of chronic back pain that will be instilled unto your sorry ass.
I can understand the chair thing ngl. Being comfortable while playing can make a huge difference between performing well or not. On the other hand if I sit down and I'm not comfortable I'm calling that out before the match even starts.
Hearing people talk about CLG EU like it wasn't clg's sister team makes me realize how long ago that was. Never forget Pulling a CLG EU. Never FF.
The EG vs TSM series actually worked in my favor. I'm a big EG fan, but that day I was out of town helping my buddy work on his car. By the time we got wrapped up I was able to sit down and watch the rest of the series play out. Jojopyun and Solo were both playing so well in that series and I was really hyped when EG won game 5.
The next week, they defeated TL in a wild 5 game series to secure their spot in worlds. I wish Danny was as happy as I was.
7:10 For reference, this happened like 3 days ago.
I was watching live during that toilet issue and it was the most hilarious break I've ever seen even up to now HAHAHA
love the music you use!! va-11 hall-a and persona are awesome choices
so many happy teemos in the crowd recieving 25$ worth of riot points, they say some were even invisible
Idk how expensive the tickets are but. They got so excited for the 25$ where I wouldv asumed that the ticket wouldv been more expensive lmao.
Weird that you didn't mention the 1hr pauses at Play-In in Worlds 2022 due to a mix of technical and health (iykyk) issues, at some point the lolesports twitch started making dumb polls on twitch to keep ppl on stream lol
chair thing makes sense, it might have had a spring poking out or something was broken on it, same with the foot falling asleep. if ur a professional soccer player and ur shoe was broken youd need to run off an get another pair of cleats, or if ur foot fell asleep you would need to sub out or call a timeout
if you’re a soccer player and your foot falls asleep you‘ve done something wrong
Yep, feels horrid as well, it's icky
honestly playing on an uncomfortable chair is definitely not ideal for a possibly long session. I bought an ergonomic one recently, and the difference was night and day
Thank You for showing (Profersor) I'm new and trying to improve and this helped! Thank You!
love the persona 4 bg music
Appreciate you 🤝
For those wondering who the girl in the thumbnail is, shes spcat doremi
man i love u
why would they EVER base the tourney on WIFI when all the equipment is on stage, presumably on a preset version of the game meant for tourney gameplay only as well? How did people in the mid-2000s figure out proper local competitions with LAN setups better than a major game company?
Mid 2000s? Nobody had proper LAN setups back then. In those days most video game tournaments were played on consoles, where you had 2 or 4 people playing on the same system and sharing a screen.
One of the reasons Korea had such a head start in organized video games was because they were the first to have dedicated LAN setups in Starcraft. And that was only a 1v1 game.
@@jyashin proper LAN setups were something that were happening in the 90's. Quake LAN parties were a thing that were already established.
This is why lan is better for these kinds of things. Games need to support lan play for in person tournaments.
The 2020 CBLOL final was acctually played during night
Nicolai can you do a video on champions with the most skins on league of legends? Love your content keep it up
Thanks for the video! :D
2 hours game? that's like the minimum duration of a Dota game
handing out free Pizza is a total gigachad move
Video is cutted?
that game basically got expert-level trolled by the ISP
my favorite pro league moment is the lilia 9 player sleep
3:56 filter/effect name? i know it's on tiktok aswell and searched for it for a while xD
I'm so upset that I won't play pre S8 anytime sooner than 10 years.
Since you can even use the emergency lane on the highway, if nature calls, riot not having it in their rules is quite the overlook (once again).
Also @8:14 -- so they prefer being sued for trauma (witnessing a heart attack on stage)?
Even though I never play LOL but i like your videos so much that i already watched more than 10 videos
1:42 False, WE won the first game and they also took the lead in game 2, that was also the start of connection issue.
Did silver scrapes originate in that CLG match or it was another series?
all of season 2 and 3.
Pretty sure it was from that
About the CBLOL game that happened on top of a building, I haven't seen any complaints about the sun on behalf of the players. Maybe it was because the game occurred at the end of the day
Your jokes are so funny… the player themselves stop working 😂
what happend to the video? why did it just ended like that?
It ended
Bugsplat, duh
at that time it wasnt so easy to get riot points , we all were a much younger audience and most parents didnt want to pay for online stuff like that, thats why people also went so crazy
I dont get it how technical problems are still a thing in Riot tournaments today. They have 10+ years of experience in organising games and they still have "audio issues"
Did you know that they have 200+ years of experience in champions balancing
But you still have to admit Riot is the best esport tournament organizer ever. (I'm bored with kids who only play and watch league and spam X+ years experience meme every day.)
If they were always using the same venue and computer and same version of League, I'm sure they wouldn't. The problem is that they are using different venues, likely different computers, and different versions of League. Experience can only help so much then
@@byeguyssry not to mention riot upgrading and trying to increase production of events with better stages/performances and such with the finals/internationals
Bruh $25 dollars?!?!?!? I CAN BUY 2 EPIC SKINS WITH THAT LETS GOOO
You can get pulsefire ez. That should be the only skin at 25$ at that time
Sun prolems? Did Riot not realise the sun is shining? 😮
"We're sorry the event didn't go as planned. Here, have FREE RIOT POINTS!" Shit, we're square.
did u get a new microphone :3
Holy crap dude an 8 minute video and a 1 minute in video ad? Greedy dude to the absolute max
NEED THUMBNAIL SAUCE
why I watched this video:
looks at cute egurl in the thumb
reads the title
asks himself wtf an egurl has to do with a 2 hour pro game of league.
..so good job on the thumb i guess
love the video, commenting for good video and algorithm
free pizza, 25 bucks, but i flew across the world paid hotel to get to see nothing
I remember one time TheOddOne from TSM pause the game to go throw up in the bathroom for having the flu. And he had his little brother stand in for him, I think. Altho, I don't remmeber what year or what turnament it was, But I'm sure some one here might remmember aswell?
Of course he wanted a new chair, It wasn't secretlab.
Secret trash
Riot today: "We're going to give you $100 of riot points... All to split equally amongst yourselves... You also have to pay to get out."
3:15 According to reports, this match is what pushed Danny's burnout/mental health issue over the edge.
imagine riot caring more about chat logs of the top laner typing to their 0/6 jungler with no ganks, than fixing the actual problem
200 yrs of collective... You know the know the meme, and at this point it is sad I can't even type back lol
Hironic how my video got stuck loading at 2:02 ...
2:50 "We'll be refunding your tickets, sure you don't care about that" **random: "naaaah"** "We'll be giving you guys $25 in riot points" YAAAAAAAASJKDfhjkladehjlsdhjgklhsdfjghdjsbv!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 But this was pretty interesting video
"We are giving you back your real money"
-No reactions
"We are giving you virtual currency"
-Huge crowd reaction
i feel like the WE vs WBG he probably was disgusted by his play or something
Can someone tell me who's the Ahri Cosplay is?
Honestly, I think the ahri cosplayer, "may" be a dude. Apparently thats a thing. Now I'm not against that, But I'm also not gonna be looking into that stuff. Not my cup of coffee.
poro app thing is 3rd party add on and illegal to use
Lol the look on that kids face after he got all hyped up on adderall just to have to wait 2 hours.
did you reupload this ? :/
No! But features a couple clips from a video I made 3 years ago lol
bruh the video started buffering at 1:56 LMAO
i feel like teams should be allowed to call in a time out.
other sports have it. why not online sports?
2:03 sauce? 🤔
i canttt the way they were all booing his ass but as soon as he talked about giving free rp they started cheering and safghkjasfghjkasfkghjsagfkh
the thing with the Brazilian outside finals is that it's actually really common to have your setup near a window, I myself play games sometimes with a massive flash of light on the screen
Why is Doremi in the thumbnail ?!?
I just clicked on this vid only because of this cute ahri on preview
how nuts they go for some free riot points
To be fair this was back when skins cost like 750 at most so that's like 3 or 4 skins xd
League crowds are always the best.
8:18 I think that's justified. Why those garbage "racer" chairs are used in lieu of actually comfortable chairs is beyond me
jisas... toilet issue?? no big brain moment there
Refund tickets. Not much cheer. 25 bucks in riot points? Go wild
imagine waiting 2 hours for a NA game.
W persona music

VCS 2023 first bo3 has a same game time as a bo5 man :))
porofessor is great, any red bars on my team I flame the noobs then dodge. Any red bars on the enemy team I flame riot for making me play against noobs then dodge.

ngl bro, you're my first comment of 2024.
Happy New Year!
Imagine being a pro lol player spending a large portion of your time inside, practicing... only to show up to the thing you've been training for all year and it's entirely outdoors to the point there's sun glaring off the screen
I'd legitimately refuse to play... If I was these orgs I would attempt to boycott any future events where players are going to be forced outside
That's like having a bunch of NFL dudes show up to the Superbowl only to realise it's being held in an Olympic size swimming pool
Genuinely stupid
