- Welcome back for episode 88 of It's Alive with Brad Leone where this week our man with the plan sets out to pickle peppers. Now, pickled peppers obviously present a great tongue twister for a master linguist like Mr. Leone, but the real appeal lies in that they're delicious and add a kick to nearly anything. Make a jar and it will keep in the fridge for up to two weeks, giving you access to these chill chilies right when you want them.

Brad Makes Pickled Peppers | It's Alive | Bon Appétit
Brad is literally the only reason I subbed to this channel. Wish he just started his own channel. Love his stuff.
he has mentioned somewhere before he doesn't want to do that as he is not very tech savvy
Agreed. A channel with him and hunzy would be the best!
What happened to Vinchinzo? Did he leave the same time as everyone else?
@@MoKiShea He's at Binging with Babish now
@@jgrill110 Is he helping out with that Claire show too?
He used garlic without mentioning allicin! Brad, say wourder twice if you need help!
AND HE JUST SLICED THE GARLIC !
Brad has been replaced by a Doppelgänger
There's only one explanation
DELANEY!
I am absolutely here for Brad dragging the daylights out of the cooking set.
It looks so small
I like how brad smiled and posed with the pickles like it’s show and tell at school.

Brad is practically my internet uncle at this point.
Basically a shot of NJ that I need to stay sane after moving to the south.
No, I am. Call your mother some time, she loves you.
Brad is such a lovely combination of cooking, ADHD and a golden retriever! Gotta love him!
Brad is the onlyyy reason I keep coming back to BA. He should move on his own asap, go back to Vinnie and friends *.*
brad Vincenzo matty and babish. . . can you imagine!
I think they have him locked into a pretty aggressive contract.
I feel like Brad has more fun being out in the woods or at his own house lol
Well ya duh
Isn’t that everyone?
@@mziskin He seemed pretty happy in the older test kitchen videos, idk
@@johnprior3746 I think he liked the human energy. This, here, is not lighting his fire.
The little “honk” when he pressed the bread down had me cacklin’
10:14
God knows BA needs more hosts to exploit and not pay
Hey Brad, you should do an episode on mead.
I feel like that episode would make less sense than when he's sober!
that would be interesting for sure
The pot looks like the top half of a shallow double boiler.
Also, kiwis almost always seem to be looking down. Maybe they’re sad they can’t fly.
maybe they are sad because they have to share name with hairy green balls
good call
I agree that it looks like the top half of a double boiler and the matching pot looks likes in on the shelf to the left behind him.
It's definitely the top of a double boiler, it's thin on purpose and that weird ridge in the side is meant to fit the lip of the pot below it.
Agree with the double boiler… I believe kiwi birds are always looking down because they are always looking for food. They have nostrils at the end of their beaks that allow them to sense their prey underground (as well as many other interesting characteristics like being flightless)
I've been making pickled peppers like this but with fermented garlic honey as the sugar source ever since I saw your video a couple years ago. Always in my fridge now and my coworkers are always asking for them. Thanks to Brad for cooking the way I like and just being great!
could they last a long time if you used smaller cans? i would like to make a lot in 1 go
how much salt?
@@derek9087 certainly if you can them they’d last longer and making more in smaller containers would mean less of the overall batch would be open and exposed to air at any given time. So, yes, I think that’s the way to go if you’re looking for longevity of the product.
@@stephencupp7587 usually only a few tablespoons of salt and 1/4 cup or less of the honey in 1:1 water to vinegar. I’ll use more vinegar if I want it to last longer but it’s usually a pretty quick pickle that gets better over a couple days to weeks in the fridge.
@@BrandonMSwan thank you!
It's a kiwi brad. I look forward to more Keanu co-host content.
Yea man! And they have their heads down foraging for bugs in the soil. So let him be!! 😆🤙
It's what we New Zealanders turn into before we die.
I love the fragment of concern when he asks 'Are they always sad?'
Imagine an episode with Keanu AND the return of Garla.
Found it
Best thing is when he says he’s going to make a “sammich”
i'd step out into traffic for a brad sammich right now tbh
His "careless" and "jokester" teaching style made it so I was less anxious and more confident when trying to pickle/ferment foods.
Nobody cares!
@@ItzzTesta hey get those bad vibes outta here right now bud
about to get sappy but my dad died a few months ago and watching this video, it’s the first time since that i have truly laughed and have felt happy! i’m so thankful for brad
I'm so sorry for your loss..
I would totally watch Brad telling his stories.
Brad is keeping the channel alive, but yet give him the worst kitchen with the worst tools.
Seriously
@1 2 I don't think this is his house, looks like a new set
@@corzahazard444 it's a rented apartment turned into a studio/kitchen.
Its meant to be homely.
To be fair that pan isn't for that, it's the top pan of a double boiler.
Honestly, the best outcome of NJ going recreational is the *incredible* Brad content we get out of it
"Bury it in the ground" bit had me dying 💀🪦
Came for the pickled peppers.
Subscribed for Keanu.
i dooo have to say i miss seeing claire and brad figure stuff out together. they were a hilarious coworker duo. thankful brad is still making its alive!
I appreciate Brad for carrying this dying channel on his shoulders.
Poor pronunciator Brad proudly presents a pair of prim pots properly packed with pickled peppers.
Poor pronunciator Brad tries pronounce Zack Gala- Galiq- Galifianakis name.
The editor and animator deserve just as much acclaim as Brad. Great stuff!
Brad is the guy everyone calls to smoke with. 💨☺️
Please get Zach Galifianakis on taste buds now.
Zach Galifinackinus.
I love how everything brad makes revolves around sandwich condiments
Points accrued for accessibility
Brad is a good guy for trying to lift up the kiwis birds head.
Ya know, brad whenever I’m feeling anxious I watch your videos and they just calm me down and get me back to regular. Thanks for everything bud.
I was Rollling this whole episode 😂😂😂
Seeing Brad’s face makes me really happy and hopeful that things are actually getting back to normal. ☺️☺️ Thank you
Brad is keeping the lights on for BA.
6:40 Those scrolling news headlines 😂
ahhh the only reason i watch bon appers anymore... my god, imagine the YT channel of brad, claire, andy and the crew, id be there in a second
Kiwi bird is now my favorite anime character.
I missed you, Brad. You bring me pure joy with every video. Thank you!
Back to the depressing "kitchen" studio, man i miss fermentation station CHOO CHOO
Agreed
Looking at the rim near the bottom of the saucepan it might be designed to be used in a double boiler setup. This would also explain the thin bottom.
Everything’s a story is why we watch you, Brad. That and the beautiful editing haha
I bet if Brad and Zach gala-fish-nakis put out some kitchen content together it would be comedy gold. Great energy.
Sometimes, the algorithm is a blessing. You only click on brads videos, you'll see every new video on your timeline.
Brad is single handedly keeping this channel alive. Everything else is noise
Uncle Harold will remember this.
I like the Chris recreates series too, but not as much as the its alive/goin places series
Him and Chris.
Gotta love chris man
People don't know hot to lift someone up without putting others down anymore. Quite sad
As a linguist, I laughed just a bit too much at: BRAD LEONE, LINGUIST
At this point, I'm just waiting for Zach to check in to say hi...
Making a mental note the the inevitable Taste Buds episode
@@rheonotic oooh. Great idea.
Brad can butcher his name to his face. Sort of.
My dad also has a Taurus moon, and the way they talk about food like they’re taking care of it is so cute
That pan looks like the top pan for a "bain marie" which would explain why the bottom is so thin.
Yes! I half expected him to reveal it was perforated bc it looked like the top of a steamer set. 😆
I'm not gonna lie I watch his videos almost daily it's such a comfort show for me
I can't even tell you how much I have missed old school "It's Alive!" Episodes. I rewatched ALL of them during quarantine lol.
"There's something in there. Editing is a beautiful thing."
I think that saucepan is really a double boiler that sits on top of the other saucepan in the back rack. That's why it has the flared bottom. Either way, Brad should start his own channel.
Almost halfway in we get to the first ingredient. Reminds me of when you look up recipes online and there's a full blown article before you even get to the recipe.
Exactly. Seems like all recipe places are like that now. Gotta read their whole life story first.
Brad is literally the only reason I’m still subscribed.
Loved this! Hunzi's editing and Brad's chaotic energy are truly the best combo on the internet. 😂
Is this Hunzi though? I thought it was just someone trying to imitate his style.
The small pot is the top to a double boiler. Usually for melting chocolate. So glad Brad is back
wasn't expecting to watch brad bullying this kiwi...
i need a follow-up video of Brad learning about kiwis or meeting one.
And once again, the editors go above and beyond. They deserve a raise.
I like brad. Like, I LIKE like him. Like more than a friend like.
I've started growing Fresno's in my garden now because of Brad. I can't find them in any market near me so I'm excited to try them this season!
Brad literally makes life so much better
No way! I was literally looking to pickle my garden peppers this week!!
Waiting on mine to finish ripening
That pan is for a double boiler, that's why it's thin and has that ring at the base. 😋🤪
I love brad. Seems like the sweetest guy
The garlic on the Uncle Sam had edit was the most underrated thing ever
When he said, “are they always sad?” 🥺🥺
I cackled at 7:59 "was it Igor?" "So close... Zach Galifinakis" 🤣🤣
Brad yelling at the kiwi bird was one of the best moments 😂
Even if the episodes sucked (which they dont), the theme song alone makes my whole day!
Add some carrots to this one trust me.
that little Pinocchio bit was gold
I just started making pickled peppers last weekend! Awesome timing I can try your way on the next batch.
The rolling headlines in the LaGuardia bit 😂😂😂
No garlic crush and subsequent Allicin shpeal!?You’re already forgetting your roots Brad; you’ve changed man.
the editing was back to being on point again on this one
I would love to see a pepper jelly recipe! And a pickled diakon / carrot / beans / asparagus recipe... oh! And dill pickles!
I'm not gonna lie, I don't think I've literally ever made something Brad cooks, I just watch it for him.
The best way I have found to remove that membrane or separator is scraping it out with a spoon and that very thin bottomed sauce pan is not a sauce pan its the top part of a double boiler evidence of the weird rim on the bottom and why the base is so thin
I scrape it out with a grapefruit spoon!
Thank you editor, you’ve put together a beautiful thing.
That final attempt on the name was hilarious
That pot is a boiling pot. You insert it into another pot. That is what the lower lip at the bottom is for. It seals the pot inside the larger pot. You put water in the lower pot and it heats up that pot without searing.
6:19 when you learn that it’s Brad’s first attempt at making this recipe lol
I love the sad kiwi cohost and all of Brad's energy its the balance we needed
I need to make a small jar of these! I agree, if you get a nice Italian meat sub it should have a dash of dried oregano.
This felt more like a comedy skit then a cooking show hahahh
"I'm gonna make you a sandwich, Kev!"
Makes sandwich.
Eats sandwich.
Brad is the reason why I'm still subscribed to this channel
Did Chris lace Brad’s Cheerios with something?
6:54 Xmas in a Jar (sorta) splash sherry vinegar, oregano, pink peppercorn, 1 bottle of rice vinegar and a little the bit water and splash of maple 🍁 syrup.
Brad is the best tv chef ever to not have his own show
When you next come to New Zealand Brad you need to see the bush chickens in person. Truly amazing creatures and bigger than people think.
Gotta appreciate the person who left the plant atleast they’re trying to help u get some fernisher
I love dodo-bird-brain Brad so much 😭😭😍
That Pinocchio bit was hilarious to me
This video is so calm and organised :))))))))))
I love chef Brad.
The man is an absolute treasure.
"Are they always sad?" He was in some kind of mood during this shoot
Not Brad using a double-boiler pot on direct heat lol. It's so thin because it's meant to sit over a steam bath - that ridge around the bottom fits into the other pot and holds it steady.
you and your team are so excellent, you carry these guys. i have looked through all the rest of them there is one who is kind of ok but basically it's all you bro
Brad thinks for a minute about kiwi birds. “…Are they ALWAYS sad??”
I love that bird...sends love
