How To Teach Your Horse To Sidepass Towards You

  • In this video I show one way I start teaching my horses to sidepass towards me. I use a few different horses to show this progress, for most of them this was their first day learning this. By the end of their first session they all had the general concept down! This is great to use as a trick, but also to gain or improve body control. If you have a horse that you need to move the mounting block to them... this will help with that!
If you try teaching your horse to sidepass towards you and have any questions I'd be glad to answer them or help. More 'How To's and training videos coming in the future!

I love how gentle you are. Many people will hit the horse to get the results and it’s disgusting.

      1BayHorse Thank you!
I don’t use it with every horse. It’s not my initial “go to”... I really only use it with special case horses. When used correctly and if it benefits the horse, then I think it’s great! Whatever makes the learning process easier for the horse, but I find most are fine with other methods 👍

I love your content. I tried the link you shared for UCMC and reach advertisements for various things only arriving at the UCMC site on the third try, only to be asked for my e-mail, before I could receive any information about ACMC. As I was already hesitant after two misdirects I declined to share my e-mail. Please continue the great content.

Thank you! No mentor in particular :) For the majority, I'm self-taught... but I take every opportunity I can to learn from every trainer!

Just found your videos and I really like them. My mare is blind in one eye. She sidepasses from the saddle and will sidepass away from me. But I can't get her to sidepass towards me. We can't get past the whip tap. Any suggestions or tips?

You may now see this but I have a horse that is not able to be rode right now. He is good to do the groundwork with the liberty but he likes to reach over and nibble me when walking, tries to grab my whip (playing) and won’t focused and sometimes will move his head to move me over. Is there any way I can help him to want to do things instead of playing
