I wanted to tell you about that area, but didn't want to come off as a you should kind of person. F-Troop, and the lagoon from Giligans island is there also. You were very close to there when you did the Lost Boys bridge which I had no clue about. This video was full of things I didn't know about, and used to hike all those hills. Very very good video! Thank you

I've worked out on the golden oak movie ranch for a chevy commercial. We built a house out there and on my breaks I had fun exploring the lot and facades. I believe old shows like old yeller were shot out there back in the day. I was unaware the park behind it was there so thanks for showing us. I will have to visit with the family and do some exploring. 👍👍👍

Supposedly, as I remember it, Francisco Lopez was herding cattle and decided to take a nap and have a small lunch under an oak. Legend has it he pulled up a wild onion only to find some placer gold clinging to the roots. I'm amazed that oak is still there, as it was rather sickly in the 60s and 70s when I lived in the area!

That tree wouldn't last 10 minutes without a fence. I'm reminded of the 3,500 year old tree in Florida called the Senator that was burned down. Gotta keep these special trees protected!

when i lived in the sfv years ago i loved to go to placerita canyon park, a very neat area, also areas in the angeles national forest
I like the quietness out there. The painted murals were cool too. You should have taken an afternoon siesta near the tree and tested out to see if the luck wore off on you too.

Placerita Canyon and the Golden Oaks Ranch are a couple filming locations of the Dukes of Hazzard. On one of the Dukes dvds, John Schneider, Tom Wopat, and Catherine Bach were doing a voice over for an episode. They said that when they were filming there the crew would take a break from filming and pan for gold.
I remember hearing this story in grade school, circa 1968
