I have found it helpful to keep a notebook where I write down the best speed/power settings for different materials and projects I'm working on. Its not necessary to always use high power settings, and for some materials a slower speed and lower power setting produces a better image. There is also a place in the output tab where you can make it do multiple passes which is great to prevent excessive burning or melting. Just use lower power and multiple passes. For cutting thin plywood multiple lower power passes can produce a cleaner cut with less charring and smoke marks.

engraving backwards is very nice on acrylic because it hides the rough part and the light glows more nicely this way

Chad the reason why you have to mirror the design because your Datum/Base Point (look on arrow at upper right corner), it should be on the left upper corner with horizontal arrow pointing to the right and vertical arrow pointing to down.

Chad, the two laser settings are for 2 lasers. If you a 50w laser and you add a second 50w laser then you can have a 100w laser but off course your machine has to accommodate for this. I just bought a RayJet 300 and am still working the kinks out myself.

Chad, if you decide to do more videos like this, check out the free CamStudio screen capture software. You can capture all of your desktop right to video and then edit it right into your final video. I have been using it for years on my company CZcams page. Works great and you can't beat free. :)

chad good video i have the same machine i think your problem is your table in the software is setup wrong hence the reason you mirror your text for it to engrave the right way if you go up to the config system settings click mirror y axis un tick x axis mirror on the right side of that you will see laser head position think there is about 9click the top left position and try that on a test piece this will set your table on the program to match the laser table don't forget to change the area to 500x300 i have done alot of glass engraving using the rotary it's easy done but at the same time you have to be cautious of your power what i do is put a large rubber band on the rim of the glass this gives it more grip on the rollers because of the backlash the glass will tend to slip past your starting point if you need to re engrave it wont be in the same position my speed and power settings for glass engraving on drinking glasses is speed 60 power max 30 and the focal length 22mm if you use to much power your glass will crack if you need more info and a picture of my settings feel free to email me at usagi_13@hotmail.com

Chad: At around the 10:40 mark you made mention of the image (Frame) not being clear. I learned that most of these Chinese laser machines, and probably the American ones as well, will not work well with bitmap images and that one must convert images into vector files (Mathematical Mapping) before applying them on to a project. I bought one of these Chinese laser machines just recently, and I have not had the chance to fire it up due to learning that the laser machine only works with CorelDraw, actually the plug-in (USB thumb drive) called CoreLaser will only work with CorelDraw. So as soon as I can fork out another $500.00 for the CorelDraw suites I will get to play with mine. The interface of my 60 Watt Laser Machine is much different from yours though, mine looks more simple and doesn't have as many buttons/options as yours has on it.
Also, I have read from other sources that you can work on your art projects with the Adobe products, and then transfer them on to what ever program the laser machine uses.
One interesting thing that I read while doing research on these laser machines is this, CorelDraw (Canadian product) seems to be the vector based drawing suit that most laser machines use worldwide. But here in America it seems that Adobe (American product) became the standard for its machines. Now that we are capable of buying a bit more easier overseas products, we are starting to see that most laser printers worldwide support CorelDraw.
    Thanks for posting Chad.

The dots could be used for cutting thicker materials that the laser cannot handle. Trace the dot pattern on your 3/4 plywood, and finish the job with a jigsaw...

A lot has changed since this was made. The inversion problem and the scan, dot, etc is opposite. I really need the screen on the machine to read English, otherwise I need to hook up to a computer all the time which isn't practical. The USB flash drive input made is much better.

Chad, great information. Thank you for taking the time to post up this information. I am glad we found you.
Do you have any information about obtaining spare parts, software or manuals? We have the same machine, but it was a bit damaged when it arrived. The seller is of little help. They do not speak English and my Chinese is non existent.
We have been able to get some engraving complete using an old version of Coral Draw, but have had learning curve limits due to missing information.
One thing that we have learned. We cover the wood with blue painters tape before cutting. This limits the "over burn" to the areas outside the engravings and cuts. This helps when we want to add color to the engraved areas. We can spray paint the color before we remove the tape. This works well for to make black letters on signage for example.
Have you had errors when engraving? Many times during the process we will get an error that stops the machine. My best guess is it is an out of range error, but I am not sure. If I realign the start point of the laser, it will change when the error comes in, but I am not really sure if this is a software or hardware issue. As I mentioned, the machine was damaged and may need calibration. Hence the reason we are looking for a manual to obtain base settings. Another error we see has to do with "slop", but I am not sure what that term may mean.
Thanks again for posting and any help you can provide
    Dave

      @paullavin6708 Před 8 lety

+arwa khoury My sympathies but I have a possible solution. Not elegant but I'm using the machine now.
You need use two codes RD8888 and CC8888 in the RDworks bundled application. You use the first in the File > Vendor settings. When you open that with the first you will get a two panel dialogue box. One is called history... you need to clear history and use the second code to unlock the clearing function... then it should work. You may have to use it again and again and again every time you boot the machine or the software but, hey, it works.
I have been using the USB drive in my dedicated laser laptop. I wonder if there is something in trying to plug it directly into the machine? Perhaps the codes are in the USB drive?
If this is unclear, let me know and I will do it with the programme running in front of me.
      Best of luck!
