There are so many reasons to love this fight and one of them includes that these two are so so passionate and violent without ever trash talking or bringing up personal issues. True fighters.
Imagine a world where you can damage your opponent as much as they damaged you, except you outstruck him by triple and still lose. Much respect to Lawler, but Condit won that fight.

Condit always got a bad rep from his fight with Diaz , everyone thought he was a boring fighter because of that, Condit lived up to his nickname dude was a killer

Condit was a class act all the way through, even in defeat - but he was never the same after this fight. The horrendous damage that he sustained in the fight (especially in the 5th round) definitely doesn't help, but more importantly - he lost the love for the game after the bad judging that night. You can tell, he's holding all his emotions in in order to act nicely and all that - but deep down inside, you know he's heartbroken and that roaring fire is not there anymore. After this, he went on a long losing streak, fell out of the top 15, got a couple of wins and ended his career on a loss. His granite chin was no more, and his mind was no longer fully committed to the game.

Robbie's third win in his fight if the year streak...both fighters declined after this unfortunately. Although it was a shit decision it was one of the greatest fights of all time...I believe it was better than his fight against Rory 2 cuz the pace was fast from the beginning along with the actions.

I completely agree!!! This fight is so underrated. Everyone always brings up the Rory fight (which was a great fight) when talking Lawler, or just the greatest fights in UFC history in general. But I'm always perplexed why this incredible war is almost never brought up, especially when it was a better fight than Robbie vs Rory. As you said, apart from the robbery descision, the fight was amazing from start ro finish- how both men had their arms on the cage after giving everything they had. Everyone at the pub i was at, watching this were applauding as if we were there in the arena.
