This is probably my favorite inventoon, I'm definitely going to learn it now.
Thank you for breaking down the mystery why I always fascinating with Bach's invention particular with this one.
Wonderful explanation, making this lovely piece more interesting!
Learnt this last year, nice to see all the details of how it was composed why everything is how it is.
Love this ! Can't wait to start learning it.
I learned Bach inventions. When I was young. I played them differently from everyone else I've ever heard them play. This was many years ago when in Junior High and the dinosaurs roam the hallways. I always bring forward the melody while keeping the accompaniment section staccato and softer. Interestingly my piano teacher actually thought it sounded well. Forward a couple of decades my Senior year at Belmont University School of Music teaching a student this inversion and my own piano teacher and I get into a debate about interpreting this invention 😅. Dr. Robert Marler staring me down shaking his head. Me bringing my eyebrows together staring back in disagreement. Epic confrontation at the rehearsal hall while others are frozen in place watching concert pianist and under grad student unwilling to back down over a Bach invention.
That's my experience with Bach invention no. 8.😅😂 we made peace and I graduated.
Amazing video! Really great 👍
Thanks for sharing : )
Thank you a million for sharing the analysis!!
Thank you so much for the detailed analysis! They help me not only in playing piano, but also in composition. They're really refreshing comments!

Thank You for Your Kind Analysis and Your Beautiful Piano Playing♪♪♪ I Could Caught the Image of the No. 8 of Bach!!!You are Very Smart♪♪♪
I first heard this around age 10 or 11 and loved it. Still my favorite.
Great stuff! I really enjoy your vids. Do mind explaining the other two-part inventions by Bach as well in the same way with harmonies?
No. 13,14,15 ?
Noteable about this invention is that it has certain similarities to the fugue in Bb major in WTC 1.
Thanks for your great videos, keep up the good work!
Really superb video! I loved this explanation.
Thank you for your very clear entertaining walk through the piece. I am learning this piece and spending a long time on perfecting each voice (hand) have not yet tried hands together. Not sure if this is the most efficient way to practice this piece but I'm loving it all the same. Can anyone suggest a breakdown of how to learn inventions..?
Thanks again🙏
Thank you. This was very informative.
Bach maior nome da musica barroca. É também muito bonito a Missa em Si menor de Bach. Excelente video ♥️👏
very understandable analysis 👍👍👍
This is my favorite bach two part invention, thank you very much😁
It striked my after I did this how similar it was to no. 4, very similar with the time signature and the texture between the hands. But still they take very different turns in the development parts.
I enjoyed your channel. Especially watching both of your hands playing piano. Very beautiful fingers choreography! Is your piano a Petrof? Sounds amazing! Thank you for presenting your best!!
Thank you from Québec Canada!
Outstanding!! I am analyzing this piece for music theory 3 right now. Timely discovery. Will you or do you analyze some Fugues too? Thanks!!!
Inventions are too advanced for me, for now. But my teacher thinks I can play them hands seperately. You videos are short and to the point. merci.
Thank you so much, really helpful
Thank you
Thanks!!
Excelente!
Thank!!!

isn't it B half diminished? and why does this make sense in this sequence if b natural is not in the d minor scale?
Thanks for the video!
Interesting to hear a proper concert pianist talk about these kind of pieces. Also to hear how solid you are no matter where you start. I am just a mere composer hoping to get some of his pieces played by a proper pianist. Maybe one day. I don't know whether it's just my ears, your piano has a weird ring that sounds slightly out of tune but something was bothering me, might just be my ears.
You should do more Liszt
Bach is way underrated. That's how good he is
I had a music professor in college who was convinced that all music before Bach was just preparation for him, and everything after him was just going downhill.
Bach is the greatest genius the world will ever know. If there’s ever been a clear, astounding, out of all discussion absolute, that is the supremacy of JS Bach in His field. He is simply second to no one. There’s Bach, then everybody else.
When sonata-form exists in the Baroque period
The Beatles brought me here!
Love your music, adore Bach, but after years I still don't buy this "concert tempo". It just always sounds much too fast. Did they really play that fast, was tempo halved back then, or is that just a "goal" tempo? Or do modern musicians just not sound as good at fast tempi? Maybe it is just a matter of subjective opinion?
I’m not quite sure what you mean by “concert tempo”, but if this piece was originally performed on an instrument like a harpsichord with a much faster attack and decay than a modern piano, it is natural that a faster tempo might sound more appropriate.
I have wondered that about several pieces that I personally think sound better at a slower tempo.
Is this a difficult Piece? I play piano for two years now Could i play it?
There's no good answer, it depends, What are some peaces you can already play? Do you practice piano exercises regularly?
Technically you could play it, yes but to play it beautifully and how it is meant to play is extremely difficult.
I've been practicing this piece for 3 month...for just 2 page but its worth it, really fun
