Movie Hunting : Out of Print Blu-ray/Dvds and Vhs Tapes at Half Price Books

Video I filmed while I was out in Seattle last month going to check out a Half Price Books locations and looking for any rare and out of print Blu-rays as well as Dvd and seeing what Vhs Tapes they have for sale. I also give a little tour of Half Price Books as well.
Some of the rare and out of print titles I talk about in the video are :
- Two Fat Ladies Complete Series Dvd
- Walt Disney Treasures Tins - The Mickey Mouse Cub and Disneyland Secrets Stores and Magic - Zábava
I cant tell you how much i love the vhs finds real nostalgia rush i can never forget the sound whilst lying in bed watching star wars i was half asleep the movie would finish then it would automatically rewind the tape you just dont get those nechanical sounds today everything is digital and sterile and i loved the movie trailers that used to be on vhs great video shawn enjoyed this very much cheers mate
I totally miss Vhs as well. I always remember rewinding all the takes I rented from Blockbuster

Just what I needed a Nice relaxing video before Peaky Blinders at 9:00pm here in England. I remember two fat ladies. No false advertising on that show, you get exactly what the title promises.

I go to this half price books every week, it’s 10 minutes away from where I live. That’s crazy you were in my home town.
So cool. I went to another pretty cool dvd and record store near that half price books as well. Didnt film a video though.

How cool is tbat store its has alot of good stuff and to see they have books as well as they seem to be going the sameway as movie buying as book stores are closing here where i live i don't read alot but they do bring back memories as well so thank you mate for sharing that little tour with me as i always enjoy them as they are an adventure to me ok takecare
I agree on rewatching films sometimes you have to be in the right frame of mind to watch and you weren’t maybe the first time and that’s why you didn’t like it. I remember that happens to me with pee weed big adventure but it became one of my all time favorite films.
Ya Pee Wee is one I can watch over and over but some films you like you dont always like its strange how it works

My Half Price made the bad decision of mixing all of the blurays and dvds together.. I miss when they were split. Still an awesome store!!

I dont always mind that kinda stuff. I think to me the main thing is I like things to have their own sections.

The two Half Prices near me have a large selection of tapes underneath the records.
Cool I have some some videos of the stores and I know some seem to have bigger sections then others
I still have over a thousand VHS tapes but I had many more, I had to get rid of them because of all the space they take:( I want to go that store:). I love Flash Gordon! I saw Brigsby Bear in the theatre I didn't care too much for it:(. I like Dr Demento! I love Space 1999, I have a couple seasons on dvd!
Ya that is the one pain with VHS they totally do take up a lot of space.
@@coolduder I was pretty upset I had to get rid of some really great films on VHS but my dvd and blu ray collection is getting bigger:)

Did a hunt at Salvation Army on Thursday but didn't find much. Some disney but not in good condition so had to pass. Did pick up Kingdom Hearts though so I was happy about that. This Friday I plan on checking at Dollar Tree.

Oh U-Turn is really good and you never hear about it. It was made when Oliver Stone was actually creative.
Ya I loved the film so much. It always has a natural born killers vibe. I really miss when he made those kinda films.

The closest thing we have to Half Price Books in San Diego is a place in Kearny Mesa called Book-Off. Have you had the chance to visit that place?

Ther VHS selection was actually pretty good a lot of times VHS sections have absolutely nothing interesting

Two Fat Ladies is great. Glad I found mine for a lot less than that. Half Price Books used to be a great place for rare and OOP but over the years they've taken most of that away (unless you want to pay up). Their asking prices on used vinyl is often bonkers. Rarely taking condition into consideration. If I buy more than a few things there it's a good day. I used to walk out with loaded bags.
Ya I bought it years back when it first released. Always is my favorite cooking show of all time.

I'll never get rid of all my VHS tapes, so much history with them and stuff recorded over decades, etc. Still use VCR every other day or so. To me the story has always been the important experience when watching a movie anyway, rather than picture quality unless it's total crap and p&s. Incidentally Shawn, just wondering if you ask for a permission first to film in all these stores or just do it and most are okay with that.
Why haven't you gone to monsterpalooza?

I’m lucky since I’m from Dallas home to HPB headquarters. We have the hub store & it’s huge.
Also every HPB tends to price differently. Some I’ve seen price ridiculous others fair & others very good.
So cool I wish they were out in my area.

That would be my idea of heaven having so much too look at over here in the UK I would go home totally broke as I would buy loads and loads.
I signed up for that horror pack based on your recommendation. They are a bad, shady company. They took my money and so far it has three weeks to get one dvd to me. What a con job.
How wonder how ofen people really buy those old VHS tapes now days?
I really dont know but usually I would think if its something that is not on Dvd or Blu-ray.
Well it looks like you did have any luck finding any good OOP dvds in this but I have found that they can slip on some dvds because I found a copy of a 80s double feature of teen witch/Heavenly kid for $2 which is about a $20 combo and the Masada miniseries dvd set for $14.99 which can sell for $40-$50+ and the love comes softly 10th anniversary dvd set for $10 which can go for $50+! So it’s possible to find some great deals at half price books it just depends on how lucky you are and if no one else knows how rare and expensive it really is on eBay! So it doesn’t always have to be a sales week to get a good deal on something at HPB but it does help for the more rare and OOP movies or games that they do know about and price correctly!
Half price books by where I live in Illinois stop buying vhs taps . There are definitely some gems at the one I went to .
